Atha thero r±j±na½ etamattha½ imin± suttena saññ±pesi “cetan±ha½, bhikkhave, kamma½ vad±mi. Cetayitv± kamma½ karoti– k±yena v±c±ya manas±”ti (a. ni. 6.63).

Majjhantikatthero pana p±µaliputtato veh±sa½ abbhuggantv± himavati arav±¼adahassa upari otaritv± arav±¼adahapiµµhiya½ caªkamatipi tiµµhatipi nis²datipi seyyampi kappeti. N±gam±ºavak± ta½ disv± arav±¼assa n±gar±jassa ±rocesu½– “mah±r±ja, eko chinnabhinnapaµadharo bhaº¹u k±s±vavasano amh±ka½ udaka½ d³set²”ti. “Sadevakopi ce loko, ±gantv± t±sayeyya ma½;
na me paµibalo assa, janetu½ bhayabherava½.
“Sacepi tva½ mahi½ sabba½, sasamudda½ sapabbata½;
ukkhipitv± mah±n±ga, khipeyy±si mam³pari.
“Neva me sakkuºeyy±si, janetu½ bhayabherava½;
aññadatthu tavevassa, vigh±to urag±dhip±”ti.

Aññepi bah³ himavantav±sino yakkh± ca gandhabb± ca kumbhaº¹± ca therassa dhammakatha½ sutv± saraºesu ca s²lesu ca patiµµhahi½su. Pañcakopi yakkho saddhi½ bhariy±ya yakkhiniy± pañcahi ca puttasatehi paµhame phale patiµµhito. Ath±yasm± majjhantikatthero sabbepi n±gayakkharakkhase ±mantetv± evam±ha–
“M± d±ni kodha½ janayittha, ito uddha½ yath± pure;

Te sabbepi “s±dhu bhante”ti therassa paµissuºitv± yath±nusiµµha½ paµipajji½su. Ta½divasameva ca n±gar±jassa p³j±samayo hoti. Atha n±gar±j± attano ratanamaya½ pallaªka½ ±har±petv± therassa paññapesi. Nis²di thero pallaªke. N±gar±j±pi thera½ b²jayam±no sam²pe aµµh±si. Tasmi½ khaºe kasm²ragandh±raraµµhav±sino ±gantv± thera½ disv± “amh±ka½ n±gar±jatopi thero mahiddhikataro”ti therameva vanditv± nisinn±. Thero tesa½ ±s²visopamasutta½ kathesi Suttapariyos±ne as²tiy± p±ºasahass±na½ dhamm±bhisamayo ahosi, kulasatasahassa½ pabbaji. Tato pabhuti ca kasm²ragandh±r± y±vajjatan± k±s±vapajjot± isiv±tapaµiv±t± eva.

duµµha½ n±ga½ pas±detv±, mocesi bandhan± bah³ti.
Mah±devattheropi mahi½sakamaº¹ala½ gantv± devad³tasutta½ kathesi. Suttapariyos±ne catt±l²sa p±ºasahass±ni dhammacakkhu½ paµilabhi½su, catt±l²sa½yeva p±ºasahass±ni pabbaji½su.

codetv± devad³tehi, mocesi bandhan± bah³ti.
