107. Arańńaµµhe arańńa½ t±va dassento “arańńa½ n±ma ya½ manuss±na½ pariggahita½ hoti, ta½ arańńan”ti ±ha. Tattha yasm± arańńa½ n±ma manuss±na½ pariggahitampi atthi, apariggahitampi; idha pana ya½ pariggahita½ s±rakkha½, yato na vin± m³lena kaµµhalat±d²ni gahetu½ labbhanti, ta½ adhippeta½. Tasm± “ya½ manuss±na½ pariggahita½ hot²”ti vatv± puna “arańńan”ti vutta½. Tena imamattha½ dasseti– “na pariggahitabh±vo arańńassa lakkhaŗa½. Ya½ pana attano arańńalakkhaŗena arańńa½ manuss±nańca pariggahita½, ta½ imasmi½ atthe arańńan”ti. Tattha vinicchayo ±r±maµµh±d²su vuttasadiso.
Tatthaj±takesu panettha ekasmimpi mahaggharukkhe chinnamatte p±r±jika½. Lata½ v±ti ettha ca vettopi lat±pi lat± eva; tattha yo vetto v± lat± v± d²gh± hoti, mah±rukkhe ca gacche ca vinivijjhitv± v± veµhetv± v± gat±, s± m³le chinn±pi avah±ra½ na janeti agge chinn±pi, yad± pana aggepi m³lepi chinn± hoti, tad± avah±ra½ janeti. Sace pana veµhetv± µhit± hoti, veµhetv± µhit± pana rukkhato mocitamatt± avah±ra½ janeti.
Tiŗa½ ti ettha tiŗa½ v± hotu paŗŗa½ v±, sabba½ tiŗaggahaŗeneva gahita½; ta½ gehacchadan±d²namatth±ya parehi chinna½ v± attan± chinditv± v± gaŗhanto bhaŗ¹agghena k±retabbo. Na kevalańca tiŗapaŗŗameva, ańńampi ya½kińci v±kachalli ±di, yattha s±mik± s±lay±, ta½ gaŗhanto bhaŗ¹agghena k±retabbo. Tacchetv± µhapito addhagatopi rukkho na gahetabbo. Yo pana agge ca m³le ca chinno hoti, s±kh±pissa p³tik± j±t±, challiyopi ga¼it±, “aya½ s±mikehi cha¹¹ito”ti gahetu½ vaµµati. Lakkhaŗacchinnass±pi yad± lakkhaŗa½ challiy± pariyonaddha½ hoti, tad± gahetu½ vaµµati. Geh±d²na½ atth±ya rukkhe chinditv± yad± t±ni kat±ni ajjh±vutth±ni ca honti, d±r³nipi arańńe vassena ca ±tapena ca vinassanti, ²dis±nipi disv± “cha¹¹it±n²”ti gahetu½ vaµµati. Kasm±? Yasm± arańńas±mik± etesa½ anissar±. Yehi arańńas±mik±na½ deyyadhamma½ datv± chinn±ni, te eva issar±, tehi ca t±ni cha¹¹it±ni, nir±lay± tattha j±t±ti.
Yopi bhikkhu paµhama½yeva arańńap±l±na½ deyyadhamma½ datv± arańńa½ pavisitv± yath±rucite rukkhe g±h±peti, tassa tesa½ ±rakkhaµµh±na½ agantv±pi yath±rucitena maggena gantu½ vaµµati. Ath±pi pavisanto adatv± “nikkhamanto dass±m²”ti rukkhe g±h±petv± nikkhamanto tesa½ d±tabba½ datv± gacchati, vaµµati eva. Ath±pi ±bhoga½ katv± gacchati “deh²”ti vutte “dass±m²”ti, “deh²”ti vutte d±tabbameva. Sace koci attano dhana½ datv± “bhikkhussa gantu½ deth±”ti vadati, laddhakappameva, gantu½ vaµµati. Sace pana koci issaraj±tiko dhana½ adatv±va “bhikkh³na½ bh±ga½ m± gaŗhath±”ti v±reti, arańńap±l± ca “maya½ bhikkh³na½ t±pas±nańca bh±ga½ agaŗhant± kuto lacch±ma, detha, bhante”ti vadanti, d±tabbameva.
Yo pana arańńap±lesu nidd±yantesu v± k²¼±pasutesu v± katthaci pakkantesu v± ±gantv± “kuhi½ arańńap±l±”ti pakkositv±pi adisv± gacchati, bhaŗ¹adeyya½. Yopi ±rakkhaµµh±na½ patv± kammaµµh±n±d²ni manasikaronto v± ańńavihito v± assatiy± atikkamati, bhaŗ¹adeyyameva. Yass±pi ta½ µh±na½ pattassa coro v± hatth² v± v±¼amigo v± mah±megho v± vuµµhahati, so ca tamh± upaddav± muccitukamyat±ya sahas± ta½ µh±na½ atikkamati, rakkhati t±va, bhaŗ¹adeyya½ pana hoti. Ida½ pana arańńe ±rakkhaµµh±na½ n±ma suŖkagh±tatopi garukatara½. SuŖkagh±tassa hi pariccheda½ anokkamitv± d³ratova pariharanto dukkaµameva ±pajjati. Ida½ pana theyyacittena pariharantassa ±k±sena gacchatopi p±r±jikameva. Tasm± ettha appamattena bhavitabbanti.
