Tath± hi devadattopi vajjiputtake pakkhe labhitv± saªgha½ bhindi. Vajjiputtak± eva ca vassasataparinibbute bhagavati uddhamma½ ubbinaya½ satthus±sana½ d²pesu½. Imepi tesa½ yeva ekacce eva½ paññattepi sikkh±pade y±vadattha½ bhuñji½su…pe… methuna½ dhamma½ paµisevi½s³ti.
ѱtibyasanenap²ti ettha asana½ byasana½ vikkhepo viddha½sana½ vin±soti sabbameta½ ekattha½. ѱt²na½ byasana½ ñ±tibyasana½, tena ñ±tibyasanena, r±jadaº¹aby±dhimaraºavippav±sanimittena ñ±tivin±sen±ti attho. Esa nayo dutiyapadepi. Tatiyapade pana ±rogyavin±sako rogo eva rogabyasana½. So hi ±rogya½ byasati vikkhipati vin±set²ti byasana½. Rogova byasana½ rogabyasana½, tena rogabyasanena. Phuµµh±ti adhipann± abhibh³t± samann±gat±ti attho.
Na maya½, bhante ±nanda, buddhagarahinoti bhante ±nanda, maya½ na buddha½ garah±ma, na buddhassa dosa½ dema. Na dhammagarahino, na saªghagarahino. Attagarahino mayanti att±nameva maya½ garah±ma, attano dosa½ dema. Alakkhik±ti nissirik±. Appapuññ±ti parittapuññ±. Vipassak± kusal±na½ dhamm±nanti ye aµµhati½s±rammaºesu vibhatt± kusal± dhamm±, tesa½ vipassak±; tato tato ±rammaºato vuµµh±ya teva dhamme vipassam±n±ti attho. Pubbaratt±pararattanti rattiy± pubba½ pubbaratta½, rattiy± apara½ apararatta½, paµhamay±mañca pacchimay±mañc±ti vutta½ hoti. Bodhipakkhik±nanti bodhissa pakkhe bhav±na½, arahattamaggañ±ºassa upak±rak±nanti attho. Bh±van±nuyoganti va¹¹han±nuyoga½. Aµµh±nameta½ anavak±soti ubhayampeta½ k±raºapaµikkhepavacana½. K±raºañhi yasm± tattha tad±yattavuttibh±vena phala½ tiµµhati. Yasm± cassa ta½ ok±so hoti tad±yattavuttibh±vena, tasm± “µh±nañca avak±so c±”ti vuccati, ta½ paµikkhipanto ±ha– “aµµh±nameta½, ±nanda anavak±so”ti. Eta½ µh±na½ v± ok±so v± natthi. Ya½ tath±gatoti yena tath±gato vajj²na½ v±…pe… sam³haneyya, ta½ k±raºa½ natth²ti attho. Yadi hi bhagav± etesa½ “labheyy±ma upasampadan”ti y±cant±na½ upasampada½ dadeyya, eva½ sante “p±r±jiko hoti asa½v±so”ti paññatta½ sam³haneyya. Yasm± paneta½ na sam³hanati, tasm± “aµµh±nametan”ti-±dim±ha.
So ±gato na upasamp±detabboti “yadi hi eva½ ±gato upasampada½ labheyya, s±sane ag±ravo bhaveyya. S±maºerabh³miya½ pana µhito sag±ravo ca bhavissati, attatthañca karissat²”ti ñatv± anukampam±no bhagav± ±ha– “so ±gato na upasamp±detabbo”ti. So ±gato upasamp±detabboti eva½ ±gato bhikkhubh±ve µhatv± avipannas²lat±ya s±sane sag±ravo bhavissati, so sati upanissaye nacirasseva uttamattha½ p±puºissat²ti ñatv± upasamp±detabboti ±ha.
Eva½ methuna½ dhamma½ paµisevitv± ±gatesu anupasamp±detabbañca upasamp±detabbañca dassetv± t²ºipi vatth³ni samodh±netv± paripuººa½ katv± sikkh±pada½ paññapetuk±mo “evañca pana, bhikkhave, ima½ sikkh±pada½ uddiseyy±th±”ti vatv± “yo pana bhikkhu…pe… asa½v±so”ti paripuººa½ sikkh±pada½ paññapesi.
