Ida½ t±va eka½– yehi nimantit± vassa½ vasanti, na te anapaloketv± an±pucchitv± janapadac±rika½ pakkamanti. S±vak± pana apaloketv± v± anapaloketv± v± yath±sukha½ pakkamanti.
Aparampi buddh±ciººa½– vutthavass± pav±retv± janasaªgahatth±ya janapadac±rika½ pakkamantiyeva. Janapadac±rika½ carant± ca mah±maº¹ala½ majjhimamaº¹ala½ antimamaº¹alanti imesa½ tiººa½ maº¹al±na½ aññatarasmi½ maº¹ale caranti. Tattha mah±maº¹ala½ navayojanasatika½, majjhimamaº¹ala½ chayojanasatika½, antimamaº¹ala½ tiyojanasatika½. Yad± mah±maº¹ale c±rika½ carituk±m± honti, tad± mah±pav±raº±ya pav±retv± p±µipadadivase mah±bhikkhusaªghapariv±r± nikkhamitv± g±manigam±d²su mah±jana½ ±misapaµiggahena anuggaºhant± dhammad±nena cassa vivaµµupanissita½ kusala½ va¹¹hent± navahi m±sehi janapadac±rika½ pariyos±penti. Aparampi buddh±na½ ±ciººa½– ±gantukehi saddhi½ paµhamatara½ paµisanth±rakaraºa½, aµµhuppattivasena dhammadesan±, otiººe dose sikkh±padapaññ±pananti ida½ buddh±ciººa½.
Katama½ s±vak±ciººa½? Buddhassa bhagavato k±le dvikkhattu½ sannip±to pure vass³pan±yik±ya ca kammaµµh±naggahaºattha½, vutthavass±nañca adhigataguº±rocanattha½ upari kammaµµh±naggahaºatthañca Ida½ s±vak±ciººa½. Idha pana buddh±ciººa½ dassento ±ha– “±ciººa½ kho paneta½, ±nanda, tath±gat±nan”ti.
¾y±m±ti ±gaccha y±ma. Apalokess±m±ti c±rika½ caraºatth±ya ±pucchiss±ma. Evanti sampaµicchanatthe nip±to. Bhanteti g±rav±dhivacanameta½; satthuno paµivacanad±nantipi vaµµati. Bhagavato paccassos²ti bhagavato vacana½ paµi-assosi, abhimukho hutv± suºi sampaµicchi. Evanti imin± vacanena paµiggahes²ti vutta½ hoti.
Atha kho bhagav± niv±setv±ti idha pubbaºhasamayanti v± s±yanhasamayanti v± na vutta½. Eva½ santepi bhagav± katabhattakicco majjhanhika½ v²tin±metv± ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ pacch±samaºa½ katv± nagaradv±rato paµµh±ya nagarav²thiyo suvaººarasapiñjar±hi ra½s²hi samujjotayam±no yena verañjassa br±hmaºassa nivesana½ tenupasaªkami. Gharadv±re µhitamattameva cassa bhagavanta½ disv± parijano ±rocesi. Br±hmaºo sati½ paµilabhitv± sa½vegaj±to sahas± vuµµh±ya mah±raha½ ±sana½ paññapetv± bhagavanta½ paccuggamma “ito, bhagav±, upasaªkamat³”ti ±ha. Bhagav± upasaªkamitv± paññatte ±sane nis²di. Atha kho verañjo br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ upanis²dituk±mo attan± µhitapadesato yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami. Ito para½ utt±natthameva.
Ya½ pana br±hmaºo ±ha– “apica yo deyyadhammo, so na dinno”ti. Tatr±yamadhipp±yo may± nimantit±na½ vassa½vutth±na½ tumh±ka½ tem±sa½ divase divase p±to y±gukhajjaka½, majjhanhike kh±dan²yabhojan²ya½, s±yanhe anekavidha p±navikati gandhapupph±d²hi p³j±sakk±roti evam±diko yo deyyadhammo d±tabbo assa, so na dinnoti. Tañca kho no asantanti ettha pana liªgavipall±so veditabbo. So ca kho deyyadhammo amh±ka½ no asantoti ayañhettha attho. Atha v± ya½ d±navatthu½ maya½ tumh±ka½ dadeyy±ma, tañca kho no asantanti evamettha attho veditabbo.
Nopi ad±tukamyat±ti ad±tuk±mat±pi no natthi, yath± pah³tavitt³pakaraº±na½ macchar²na½. Ta½ kutettha labbh± bahukicc± ghar±v±s±ti tatr±ya½ yojan±– yasm± bahukicc± ghar±v±s±, tasm± ettha santepi deyyadhamme d±tukamyat±ya ca ta½ kuto labbh± kuto ta½ sakk± laddhu½, ya½ maya½ tumh±ka½ deyyadhamma½ dadeyy±m±ti ghar±v±sa½ garahanto ±ha. So kira m±rena ±vaµµitabh±va½ na j±n±ti, “ghar±v±sapalibodhena me satisammoso j±to”ti maññi, tasm± evam±ha. Atha br±hmaºo “ya½n³n±ha½ ya½ me t²hi m±sehi d±tabba½ siy±, ta½ sabba½ ekadivaseneva dadeyyan”ti cintetv± adhiv±setu me bhava½ gotamoti-±dim±ha. Tattha sv±tan±y±ti ya½ me tumhesu sakk±ra½ karoto sve bhavissati puññañceva p²tip±mojjañca, tadatth±ya. Atha tath±gato “sace aha½ n±dhiv±seyya½, ‘aya½ tem±sa½ kiñci aladdh± kupito maññe, tena me y±ciyam±no ekabhattampi na paµiggaºh±ti, natthi imasmi½ adhiv±sanakhanti, asabbaññ³ ayan’ti eva½ br±hmaºo ca verañj±v±sino ca garahitv± bahu½ apuñña½ pasaveyyu½, ta½ tesa½ m± ahos²”ti tesa½ anukamp±ya adhiv±sesi bhagav± tuºh²bh±vena.
Adhiv±setv± ca atha kho bhagav± verañja½ br±hmaºa½ “ala½ ghar±v±sapalibodhacint±y±”ti saññ±petv± taªkhaº±nur³p±ya dhammiy± kath±ya diµµhadhammikasampar±yika½ attha½ sandassetv± kusale dhamme sam±dapetv± gaºh±petv± tattha ca na½ samuttejetv± sa-uss±ha½ katv± t±ya sa-uss±hat±ya aññehi ca vijjam±naguºehi sampaha½setv± dhammaratanavassa½ vassetv± uµµh±y±san± pakk±mi. Pakkante ca pana bhagavati verañjo br±hmaºo puttad±ra½ ±mantesi– “maya½, bhaºe, bhagavanta½ tem±sa½ nimantetv± ekadivasa½ ekabhattampi n±damha. Handa, d±ni tath± d±na½ paµiy±detha yath± tem±sikopi deyyadhammo sve ekadivaseneva d±tu½ sakk± hot²”ti. Tato paº²ta½ d±na½ paµiy±d±petv± ya½ divasa½ bhagav± nimantito, tass± rattiy± accayena ±sanaµµh±na½ alaªk±r±petv± mah±rah±ni ±san±ni paññapetv± gandhadh³mav±sakusumavicitra½ mah±p³ja½ sajjetv± bhagavato k±la½ ±roc±pesi. Tena vutta½– “atha kho verañjo br±hmaºo tass± rattiy± accayena…pe… niµµhita½ bhattan”ti.
23. Bhagav± bhikkhusaªghaparivuto tattha agam±si. Tena vutta½– “atha kho bhagav±…pe… nis²di saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghen±”ti. Atha kho verañjo br±hmaºo buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªghanti buddhappamukhanti buddhapariº±yaka½; buddha½ saªghatthera½ katv± nisinnanti vutta½ hoti. Paº²ten±ti uttamena. Sahatth±ti sahatthena. Santappetv±ti suµµhu tappetv±, paripuººa½ suhita½ y±vadattha½ katv±. Sampav±retv±ti suµµhu pav±retv± ‘alan’ti hatthasaññ±ya mukhasaññ±ya vac²bhedena ca paµikkhip±petv±. Bhutt±vinti bhuttavanta½. On²tapattap±ºinti pattato on²tap±ºi½; apan²tahatthanti vutta½ hoti. Tic²varena acch±des²ti tic²vara½ bhagavato ad±si. Ida½ pana voh±ravacanamatta½ hoti “tic²varena acch±des²”ti, tasmiñca tic²vare ekameko s±µako sahassa½ agghati. Iti br±hmaºo bhagavato tisahassagghanaka½ tic²varamad±si uttama½ k±sikavatthasadisa½. Ekamekañca bhikkhu½ ekamekena dussayugen±ti ekamekena dussayuga¼ena. Tatra ekas±µako pañcasat±ni agghati. Eva½ pañcanna½ bhikkhusat±na½ pañcasatasahassagghanak±ni duss±ni ad±si. Br±hmaºo ettakampi datv± atuµµho puna sattaµµhasahassagghanake anekarattakambale ca paµµuººapattapaµe ca ph±letv± ph±letv± ±yoga-a½sabaddhakak±yabandhanapariss±van±d²na½ atth±ya ad±si. Satap±kasahassap±k±nañca bhesajjatel±na½ tumb±ni p³retv± ekamekassa bhikkhuno abbhañjanatth±ya sahassagghanaka½ telamad±si. Atha kho bhagav± verañj±ya½ yath±bhiranta½ viharitv±ti yath±jjh±saya½ yath±rucita½ v±sa½ vasitv± verañj±ya nikkhamitv± mah±maº¹ale c±rik±ya caraºak±le gantabba½ buddhav²thi pah±ya dubbhikkhadosena kilanta½ bhikkhusaªgha½ ujun±va maggena gahetv± gantuk±mo soreyy±d²ni anupagamma pay±gapatiµµh±na½ gantv± tattha gaªga½ nadi½ uttaritv± yena b±r±ºas² tadavasari. Tena avasari tadavasari. Tatr±pi yath±jjh±saya½ viharitv± ves±li½ agam±si. Tena vutta½– “anupagamma soreyya½…pe… ves±liya½ viharati mah±vane k³µ±g±ras±l±yan”ti.
