Athassa etadahosi– “sace pan±ha½ bhagavato santike viharanto bhagavanta½ ay±citv± eva½ kareyya½, na meta½ assa patir³pa½; yugagg±ho viya bhagavat± saddhi½ kato bhaveyy±”ti. Tasm± y±cituk±mo ±gantv± bhagavanta½ etadavoca.
Heµµhimatala½ sampannanti pathaviy± kira heµµhimatale pathavimaº¹o pathavojo pathavi-pappaµako atthi, ta½ sandh±ya vadati. Tattha sampannanti madhura½, s±durasanti attho. Yatheva hi “tatrassa rukkho sampannaphalo ca upapannaphalo c±”ti (ma. ni. 2.48) ettha madhuraphaloti attho; evamidh±pi sampannanti madhura½ s±durasanti veditabba½. Seyyath±pi khuddamadhu½ an²¼akanti ida½ panassa madhurat±ya opammanidassanattha½ vutta½. Khuddamadhunti khuddakamakkhik±hi katamadhu. An²¼akanti nimmakkhika½ nimmakkhikaº¹aka½ parisuddha½. Eta½ kira madhu sabbamadh³hi aggañca seµµhañca surasañca ojavantañca. Ten±ha– “seyyath±pi khuddamadhu½ an²¼aka½ evamass±dan”ti.
S±dh±ha½ bhanteti s±dhu aha½, bhante. Ettha s±dh³ti ±y±canavacanameta½. Pathaviparivattana½ ±y±canto hi thero bhagavanta½ evam±ha. Parivatteyyanti ukkujjeyya½, heµµhimatala½ uparima½ kareyya½. Kasm±? Evañhi kate sukhena bhikkh³ pappaµakoja½ pathavimaº¹a½ paribhuñjissant²ti. Atha bhagav± ananuññ±tuk±mopi thera½ s²han±da½ nad±petu½ pucchi– “ye pana te, moggall±na, pathavinissit± p±º± te katha½ karissas²”ti. Ye pathavinissit± g±manigam±d²su p±º±, te pathaviy± parivattiyam±n±ya ±k±se saºµh±tu½ asakkonte katha½ karissasi, kattha µhapessas²ti? Atha thero bhagavat± etadagge µhapitabh±v±nur³pa½ attano iddh±nubh±va½ pak±sento “ek±ha½, bhante”ti-±dim±ha. Tassattho– eka½ aha½ bhante hattha½ yath± aya½ mah±pathav² eva½ abhinimminiss±mi, pathavisadisa½ kariss±mi. Eva½ katv± ye pathavinissit± p±º± te ekasmi½ hatthatale µhite p±ºe tato dutiyahatthatale saªk±mento viya tattha saªk±mess±m²ti.
Athassa bhagav± ±y±cana½ paµikkhipanto “ala½ moggall±n±”ti-±dim±ha. Tattha alanti paµikkhepavacana½. Vipall±sampi satt± paµilabheyyunti vipar²tagg±hampi satt± samp±puºeyyu½. Katha½? Aya½ nu kho pathav² ud±hu na ayanti. Atha v± amh±ka½ nu kho aya½ g±mo, ud±hu aññesan”ti. Eva½ nigamajanapadakhett±r±m±d²su. Na v± esa vipall±so, acinteyyo hi iddhimato iddhivisayo. Eva½ pana vipall±sa½ paµilabheyyu½– ida½ dubbhikkha½ n±ma na id±niyeva hoti, an±gatepi bhavissati. Tad± bhikkh³ t±disa½ iddhimanta½ sabrahmac±ri½ kuto labhissanti? Te sot±panna-sakad±g±mi-an±g±mi-sukkhavipassaka-jh±nal±bhi-paµisambhid±ppattakh²º±sav±pi sam±n± iddhibal±bh±v± parakul±ni piº¹±ya upasaªkamissanti. Tatra manuss±na½ eva½ bhavissati– “buddhak±le bhikkh³ sikkh±su parip³rak±rino ahesu½. Te guºe nibbattetv± dubbhikkhak±le pathavi½ parivattetv± pappaµakoja½ paribhuñji½su. Id±ni pana sikkh±ya parip³rak±rino natthi. Yadi siyu½, tatheva kareyyu½. Na amh±ka½ ya½ kiñci pakka½ v± ±ma½ v± kh±ditu½ dadeyyun”ti. Eva½ tesuyeva ariyapuggalesu “natthi ariyapuggal±”ti ima½ vipall±sa½ paµilabheyyu½. Vipall±savasena ca ariye garahant± upavadant± ap±yupag± bhaveyyu½. Tasm± m± te rucci pathavi½ parivattetunti.
Atha thero ima½ y±cana½ alabham±no añña½ y±canto “s±dhu, bhante”ti-±dim±ha. Tampissa bhagav± paµikkhipanto “ala½ moggall±n±”ti-±dim±ha. Tattha kiñc±pi na vutta½ “vipall±sampi satt± paµilabheyyun”ti, atha kho pubbe vuttanayeneva gahetabba½; atthopi cassa vuttasadisameva veditabbo. Yadi pana bhagav± anuj±neyya, thero ki½ kareyy±ti? Mah±samudda½ ekena padav²tih±rena atikkamitabba½ m±tik±matta½ adhiµµhahitv± na¼erupucimandato uttarakuru-abhimukha½ magga½ n²haritv± uttarakuru½ gaman±gamanasampanne µh±ne katv± dasseyya, yath± bhikkh³ gocarag±ma½ viya yath±sukha½ piº¹±ya pavisitv± nikkhameyyunti.
