Eva½ vutte verańjo br±hmaŗoti eva½ bhagavat± lok±nukampakena br±hmaŗa½ anukampam±nena vinig³hitabbepi attano ariy±ya j±tiy± jeµµhaseµµhabh±ve vijjattayapak±sik±ya dhammadesan±ya vutte p²tivipph±raparipuŗŗagattacitto verańjo br±hmaŗo ta½ bhagavato ariy±ya j±tiy± jeµµhaseµµhabh±va½ viditv± “²disa½ n±m±ha½ sabbalokajeµµhaseµµha½ sabbaguŗasamann±gata½ sabbańńu½ ‘ańńesa½ abhiv±dan±dikamma½ na karot²’ti avaca½– ‘dh²ratthu vatare ańń±ŗa”n’ti att±na½ garahitv± “aya½ d±ni loke ariy±ya j±tiy± purej±taµµhena jeµµho, sabbaguŗehi appaµisamaµµhena seµµho”ti niµµha½ gantv± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “jeµµho bhava½ gotamo seµµho bhava½ gotamo”ti. Evańca pana vatv± puna ta½ bhagavato dhammadesana½ abbhanumodam±no “abhikkanta½, bho gotama, abhikkanta½, bho gotam±”ti-±dim±ha.
Tatth±ya½ abhikkantasaddo khayasundar±bhir³pa-abbhanumodanesu dissati. “Abhikkant±, bhante, ratti; nikkhanto paµhamo y±mo, ciranisinno bhikkhusaŖgho”ti-±d²su (a. ni. 8.20) hi khaye dissati. “Aya½ me puggalo khamati, imesa½ catunna½ puggal±na½ abhikkantataro ca paŗ²tataro c±”ti-±d²su (a. ni. 4.100) sundare.
“Ko me vandati p±d±ni, iddhiy± yasas± jala½;
abhikkantena vaŗŗena, sabb± obh±saya½ dis±”ti.–

¾d²su (vi. va. 857) abhir³pe. “Abhikkanta½, bhante”ti-±d²su (d². ni. 1.250) abbhanumodane. Idh±pi abbhanumodaneyeva. Yasm± ca abbhanumodane, tasm± “s±dhu s±dhu, bho gotam±”ti vutta½ hot²ti veditabba½.

“Bhaye kodhe pasa½s±ya½, turite kot³halacchare;
h±se soke pas±de ca, kare ±me¹ita½ budho”ti.

Imin± ca lakkhaŗena idha pas±davasena pasa½s±vasena c±ya½ dvikkhattu½ vuttoti veditabbo.

Atha v± abhikkantanti ati-iµµha½ atiman±pa½ atisundaranti vutta½ hoti. Tattha ekena abhikkantasaddena desana½ thometi, ekena attano pas±da½. Ayańhi ettha adhipp±yo– “abhikkanta½, bho gotama, yadida½ bhoto gotamassa dhammadesan±, abhikkanta½ yadida½ bhoto gotamassa dhammadesana½ ±gamma mama pas±do”ti. Bhagavatoyeva v± vacana½ dve dve atthe sandh±ya thometi bhoto gotamassa vacana½ abhikkanta½ dosan±sanato abhikkanta½ guŗ±dhigamanato, tath± saddh±jananato pańń±jananato, s±tthato sabyańjanato, utt±napadato gambh²ratthato, kaŗŗasukhato hadayaŖgamato, anattukka½sanato aparavambhanato, karuŗ±s²talato pańń±vad±tato, ap±tharamaŗ²yato vimaddakkhamato, suyyam±nasukhato v²ma½siyam±nahitatoti evam±d²hi yojetabba½.
Tato parampi cat³hi upam±hi desana½yeva thometi. Tattha nikkujjitanti adhomukhaµhapita½, heµµh±mukhaj±ta½ v±. Ukkujjeyy±ti uparimukha½ kareyya. Paµicchannanti tiŗapaŗŗ±dipaµicch±dita½. Vivareyy±ti uggh±µeyya. M³¼hass±ti dis±m³¼hassa. Magga½ ±cikkheyy±ti hatthe gahetv± esa maggoti vadeyya. Andhak±reti k±¼apakkhac±tuddas² a¹¹haratta-ghanavanasaŗ¹a-meghapaµalehi caturaŖge tamasi. Aya½ t±va anutt±napadattho. Aya½ pana adhipp±yayojan±– yath± koci nikkujjita½ ukkujjeyya, eva½ saddhammavimukha½ asaddhamme patiµµhita½ ma½ asaddhamm± vuµµh±pentena; yath± paµicchanna½ vivareyya, eva½ kassapassa bhagavato s±sanantaradh±n± pabhuti micch±diµµhigahanapaµicchanna½ s±sana½ vivarantena; yath± m³¼hassa magga½ ±cikkheyya, eva½ kummaggamicch±maggappaµipannassa me saggamokkhamagga½ ±cikkhantena; yath± andhak±re telapajjota½ dh±reyya, eva½ mohandhak±re nimuggassa me buddh±diratanattayar³p±ni apassato tappaµicch±dakamohandhak±raviddha½sakadesan±pajjota½ dh±rentena, mayha½ bhot± gotamena etehi pariy±yehi pak±sitatt± anekapariy±yena dhammo pak±sitoti.
