Athassa bhagav± cittamudubh±vajananattha½ ujuvipaccan²kabh±va½ pariharanto aññath± tassa vacanassattha½ attani sandassento “atthi khvesa br±hmaºa pariy±yo”ti-±dim±ha.
Tattha pariy±yoti k±raºa½; ayañhi pariy±yasaddo desan±-v±ra-k±raºesu vattati. “Madhupiº¹ikapariy±yotveva na½ dh±reh²”ti-±d²su (ma. ni. 1.205) hi esa desan±ya½ vattati. “Kassa nu kho, ±nanda, ajja pariy±yo bhikkhuniyo ovaditun”ti-±d²su (ma. ni. 3.398) v±re. “S±dhu, bhante, bhagav± añña½ pariy±ya½ ±cikkhatu, yath±ya½ bhikkhusaªgho aññ±ya saºµhaheyy±”ti-±d²su (p±r±. 164) k±raºe. Sv±yamidha k±raºe vattati Tasm± ettha evamattho daµµhabbo– atthi kho, br±hmaºa, eta½ k±raºa½; yena k±raºena ma½ “arasar³po bhava½ gotamo”ti vadam±no puggalo samm± vadeyya, avitathav±d²ti saªkhya½ gaccheyya. Katamo pana soti? Ye te br±hmaºa r³paras±…pe… phoµµhabbaras± te tath±gatassa pah²n±ti. Ki½ vutta½ hoti? Ye te j±tivasena v± upapattivasena v± seµµhasammat±nampi puthujjan±na½ r³p±rammaº±d²ni ass±dent±na½ abhinandant±na½ rajjant±na½ uppajjanti k±masukhass±dasaªkh±t± r³parasasaddagandharasaphoµµhabbaras±, ye ima½ loka½ g²v±ya bandhitv± viya ±viñchanti, vatth±rammaº±dis±maggiyañca uppannatt± s±maggiras±ti vuccanti, te sabbepi tath±gatassa pah²n±ti. Mayha½ pah²n±ti vattabbepi mam±k±rena att±na½ anukkhipanto dhamma½ deseti. Desan±vil±so v± esa bhagavato.
Tattha pah²n±ti cittasant±nato vigat± jahit± v±. Etasmi½ panatthe karaºe s±mivacana½ daµµhabba½. Ariyamaggasatthena ucchinna½ taºh±vijj±maya½ m³lametesanti ucchinnam³l±. T±lavatthu viya nesa½ vatthu katanti t±l±vatthukat±. Yath± hi t±larukkha½ sam³la½ uddharitv± tassa vatthumatte tasmi½ padese kate na puna tassa t±lassa uppatti paññ±yati; eva½ ariyamaggasatthena sam³le r³p±dirase uddharitv± tesa½ pubbe uppannapubbabh±vena vatthumatte cittasant±ne kate sabbepi te “t±l±vatthukat±”ti vuccanti. Avir³¼hidhammatt± v± matthakacchinnat±lo viya kat±ti t±l±vatthukat±. Tattha padacchedo anu-abh±va½ gat± anabh±va½ gat±ti, yath± anu-acchariy± anacchariy±ti. ¾yati½ anupp±dadhamm±ti an±gate anuppajjanakasabh±v±. Ye hi abh±va½ gat±, te puna katha½ uppajjissanti? Ten±ha– “anabh±va½ gat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±”ti.
Aya½ kho br±hmaºa pariy±yoti ida½ kho, br±hmaºa, k±raºa½ yena ma½ samm± vadam±no vadeyya “arasar³po samaºo gotamo”ti. No ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²ti yañca kho tva½ sandh±ya vadesi, so pariy±yo na hoti. Kasm± pana bhagav± evam±ha? Nanu eva½ vutte yo br±hmaºena vutto s±maggiraso tassa attani vijjam±nat± anuññ±t± hot²ti. Vuccate, na hoti. Yo hi ta½ s±maggirasa½ k±tu½ bhabbo hutv± na karoti, so tadabh±vena arasar³poti vattabbo bhaveyya. Bhagav± pana abhabbova eta½ k±tu½, tenassa karaºe abhabbata½ pak±sento ±ha– “no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti. Ya½ pariy±ya½ sandh±ya tva½ ma½ “arasar³po”ti vadesi, so amhesu neva vattabboti.
4. Eva½ br±hmaºo attan± adhippeta½ arasar³pata½ ±ropetu½ asakkonto ath±para½ nibbhogo bhava½ gotamoti-±dim±ha. Sabbapariy±yesu cettha vuttanayeneva yojanakkama½ viditv± sandh±ya bh±sitamatta½ eva½ veditabba½. Br±hmaºo tameva vayovu¹¹h±na½ abhiv±danakamm±di½ loke s±maggiparibhogoti maññam±no tadabh±vena bhagavanta½ nibbhogoti ±ha. Bhagav± pana yv±ya½ r³p±d²su satt±na½ chandar±gaparibhogo tadabh±va½ attani sampassam±no aparampi pariy±ya½ anuj±n±ti.
5. Puna br±hmaºo ya½ loke vayovu¹¹h±na½ abhiv±dan±dikulasamud±c±rakamma½ lokiy± karonti tassa akiriya½ sampassam±no bhagavanta½ akiriyav±doti ±ha. Bhagav± pana, yasm± k±yaduccarit±d²na½ akiriya½ vadati tasm±, ta½ akiriyav±da½ attani sampassam±no aparampi pariy±ya½ anuj±n±ti. Tattha ca k±yaduccaritanti p±º±tip±ta-adinn±d±na-micch±c±racetan± veditabb±. Vac²duccaritanti mus±v±da-pisuºav±c±-pharusav±c±-samphappal±pacetan± veditabb±. Manoduccaritanti abhijjh±by±p±damicch±diµµhiyo veditabb±. Ýhapetv± te dhamme, avases± akusal± dhamm± “anekavihit± p±pak± akusal± dhamm±”ti veditabb±.
6. Puna br±hmaºo tameva abhiv±dan±dikamma½ bhagavati apassanto ima½ “±gamma aya½ lokatanti lokapaveº² ucchijjat²”ti maññam±no bhagavanta½ ucchedav±doti ±ha. Bhagav± pana yasm± aµµhasu lobhasahagatacittesu pañcak±maguºikar±gassa dv²su akusalacittesu uppajjam±nakadosassa ca an±g±mimaggena uccheda½ vadati. Sabb±kusalasambhavassa pana niravasesassa mohassa arahattamaggena uccheda½ vadati. Ýhapetv± te tayo, avases±na½ p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ yath±nur³pa½ cat³hi maggehi uccheda½ vadati; tasm± ta½ ucchedav±da½ attani sampassam±no aparampi pariy±ya½ anuj±n±ti.
7. Puna br±hmaºo “jigucchati maññe samaºo gotamo ida½ vayovu¹¹h±na½ abhiv±dan±dikulasamud±c±rakamma½, tena ta½ na karot²”ti maññam±no bhagavanta½ jegucch²ti ±ha. Bhagav± pana yasm± jigucchati k±yaduccarit±d²hi; ki½ vutta½ hoti Yañca tividha½ k±yaduccarita½, yañca catubbidha½ vac²duccarita½, yañca tividha½ manoduccarita½, y± ca µhapetv± t±ni duccarit±ni avases±na½ l±makaµµhena p±pak±na½ akosallasambh³taµµhena akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ sam±patti sam±pajjan± samaªgibh±vo, ta½ sabbampi g³tha½ viya maº¹anakaj±tiyo puriso jigucchati hir²yati, tasm± ta½ jegucchita½ attani sampassam±no aparampi pariy±ya½ anuj±n±ti. Tattha “k±yaduccariten±”ti upayogatthe karaºavacana½ daµµhabba½.

Puna br±hmaºo tameva abhiv±dan±dikamma½ bhagavati apassanto “aya½ ima½ lokajeµµhakakamma½ vineti vin±seti, atha v± yasm± eta½ s±m²cikamma½ na karoti tasm± aya½ vinetabbo niggaºhitabbo”ti maññam±no bhagavanta½ venayikoti ±ha. Tatr±ya½ padattho– vinayat²ti vinayo, vin±set²ti vutta½ hoti. Vinayo eva venayiko, vinaya½ v± arahat²ti venayiko, niggaha½ arahat²ti vutta½ hoti. Bhagav± pana, yasm± r±g±d²na½ vinay±ya v³pasam±ya dhamma½ deseti, tasm± venayiko hoti. Ayameva cettha padattho– vinay±ya dhamma½ deset²ti venayiko. Vicitr± hi taddhitavutti! Sv±ya½ ta½ venayikabh±va½ attani sampassam±no aparampi pariy±ya½ anuj±n±ti.
