N±that²ti n±tho, veneyy±na½ hitasukha½ ±s²sati patthet²ti attho, mett±yanavasena cettha hitasukh±s²sana½ veditabba½, na karuº±yanavasena paµhamapadena vuttatt±. Atha v± n±thati veneyyagata½ kilesabyasana½ upat±pet²ti n±tho, n±that²ti v± n±tho, y±cat²ti attho. Saªgaraºaµµhen±ti v± saªgarakaraºaµµhena, µhitadhammat±ya “aya½ me mariy±d±, ima½ vela½ n±tikkam±m²”ti lokena saªgara½ saªketa½ karonto viya hot²ti attho. Saªgaraºa½ v± samantato galana½ sandana½ udakena karot²ti s±garo. Kappavuµµh±nak±le hi mah±samuddo ito cito ca paggharitv± sakala½ lokadh±tu½ ekogha½ karot²ti. Lokiy± pana vadanti “s±garassa rañño puttehi s±garehi nibbattito khatoti s±garo, puratthimo samuddappadeso, ta½sambandhat±ya ru¼hivasena sabbopi samuddo tath± vohar²yat²”ti. Tattha “kiccha½ vat±ya½ loko ±panno”ti-±din± (d². ni. 2.57; sa½. ni. 2.4, 10; peµako. 23) karuº±yanavaseneva abhinivisitv± anek±k±ravok±re saªkh±re sammasanta½ bhagavato sammasanañ±ºa½ chatti½sakoµisatasahassamukhena ñeyyas±gara½ ajjhog±hetv± tassa p±ra½ pariyanta½ agam±si, ya½ “mah±vajirañ±ºan”ti vuccati. Paµivedhañ±ºa½ pana sabbaññutaññ±ºapadaµµh±na½ ±savakkhayañ±ºa½, ±savakkhayañ±ºapadaµµh±nañca sabbaññutaññ±ºa½, ya½ “mah±bodh²”ti vuccati.
