Pañcavidhen±ti vakkham±nena pañcappak±rena veditabbo. “P²tipharaºat±”ti-±d²su p²ti½ pharam±n± uppajjat²ti dv²su jh±nesu paññ± p²tipharaºat± n±ma. Sukha½ pharam±n± uppajjat²ti t²su jh±nesu paññ± sukhapharaºat± n±ma. Paññ± p²tipharaºat±ti-±d²su sam±dhisahagat± ev±ti tattha sam±dhivasena samatho uddhaµo. Tasm± p²tisukhacetopharaºat± visesato sam±dhivipph±ravasena ijjhant²ti t± “samatho”ti vutt±. Itar±ni ñ±ºavipph±ravasen±ti t±ni “vipassan±”ti vutt±ni.

Tattha kasiºajjh±nasaªkh±t±ni kasiº±ni ca t±ni yogino sukhavises±na½ adhiµµh±nabh±vato, man±yatanadhamm±yatanabh±vato ca ±yatan±ni c±ti kasiº±yatan±ni. Pathav²kasiºanti kataparikamma½ pathav²maº¹alampi, tattha pavatta½ uggahapaµibh±ganimittampi, tasmi½ nimitte uppannajjh±nampi vuccati. Evanti imin± nayena. Sabbo ariyamaggoti samm±diµµhi-±dibh±vena abhinnopi ariyamaggo satipaµµh±n±dipubbabh±gapaµipad±bhedena anekabhedabhinno niravaseso ariyamaggo. Yena yena ±k±ren±ti anabhijjh±d²su, paccuppannasukhat±d²su ca ±k±resu yena yena ±k±rena vutto. Tena ten±ti tesu tesu ±k±resu ye ye samathavasena, ye ca ye ca vipassan±vasena yojetu½ sambhavanti, tena tena ±k±rena samathavipassan±hi ariyamaggo vicinitv± yojetabbo. Teti samath±dhiµµh±navipassan±dhamm±. T²hi dhammehi saªgahit±ti t²hi anupassan±dhammehi saªgahit±, gaºana½ gat±ti attho. Katamehi t²h²ti? ¾ha “aniccat±ya dukkhat±ya anattat±y±”ti. Aniccat±ya sahacaraºato vipassan± “aniccat±”ti vutt±. Esa nayo sesesupi.
So samathavipassana½ bh±vayam±no t²ºi vimokkhamukh±ni bh±vayat²ti so ariyamagg±dhigam±ya yuttappayutto yog² k±lena samatha½ sam±pajjanavasena k±lena vipassana½ sammasanavasena va¹¹hayam±no animittavimokkhamukh±disaªkh±t± tisso anupassan± br³heti. Tayo khandhe bh±vayat²ti tisso anupassan± upar³parivisesa½ p±pento s²lakkhandho sam±dhikkhandho paññ±kkhandhoti ete tayo khandhe va¹¹heti. Yasm± pana t²hi khandhehi ariyo aµµhaªgiko maggo saªgahito, tasm± “tayo khandhe bh±vayanto ariya½ aµµhaªgika½ magga½ bh±vayat²”ti vutta½.
Id±ni yesa½ puggal±na½ yattha sikkhant±na½ visesato niyy±namukh±ni yesañca kiles±na½ paµipakkhabh³t±ni t²ºi vimokkhamukh±ni, tehi saddhi½ t±ni dassetu½ “r±gacarito”ti-±di vutta½. Tattha animittena vimokkhamukhen±ti anicc±nupassan±ya. S± hi niccanimitt±disamuggh±µanena animitto, r±g±d²na½ samucchedavimuttiy± vimokkhoti laddhan±massa ariyamaggassa mukhabh±vato dv±rabh±vato “animittavimokkhamukhan”ti vuccati. Adhicittasikkh±y±ti sam±dhismi½. Sukhavedan²ya½ phassa½ anupagacchantoti sukhavedan±ya hita½ sukhavedan±k±raºato phassa½ taºh±ya anupagacchanto. Paññ±dhikassa santatisam³hakicc±rammaº±dighanavinibbhogena saªkh±resu attasuññat± p±kaµ± hot²ti visesato anatt±nupassan± paññ±padh±n±ti ±ha– “suññatavimokkhamukha½ paññ±kkhandho”ti. Tath± saªkh±r±na½ sarasapabhaªgut±ya ittarakhaºatt± uppann±na½ tattha tattheva bhijjana½ samm± sam±hitasseva p±kaµa½ hot²ti visesato anicc±nupassan± sam±dhippadh±n±ti ±ha– “animittavimokkhamukha½ sam±dhikkhandho”ti.
