7. “Bhante n±gasena, bh±sitampeta½ bhagavat± ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni [vassasahass±ni (s².) passa a. ni. 8.51] saddhammo µhassat²’ti. Puna ca parinibb±nasamaye subhaddena paribb±jakena pañha½ puµµhena bhagavat± bhaºita½ ‘ime ca, subhadda [d². ni. 2.214 passitabba½], bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti, asesavacanameta½, nissesavacanameta½, nippariy±yavacanameta½. Yadi, bhante n±gasena, tath±gatena bhaºita½ ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti, tena hi ‘asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti ya½ vacana½, ta½ micch±. Yadi tath±gatena bhaºita½ ‘asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti, tena hi ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti tampi vacana½ micch±. Ayampi ubhato koµiko pañho gahanatopi gahanataro balavatopi balavataro gaºµhitopi gaºµhitaro, so tav±nuppatto, tattha te ñ±ºabalavipph±ra½ dassehi makaro viya s±garabbhantaragato”ti.
“Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti. Parinibb±nasamaye ca subhaddassa paribb±jakassa bhaºita½ ‘ime ca, subhadda, bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti. Tañca pana, mah±r±ja, bhagavato vacana½ n±natthañceva hoti n±n±byañjanañca, aya½ s±sanaparicchedo, aya½ paµipatti parid²pan±ti d³ra½ vivajjit± te ubho aññamañña½. Yath±, mah±r±ja, nabha½ pathavito d³ra½ vivajjita½ niraya½ saggato d³ra½ vivajjita½, kusala½ akusalato d³ra½ vivajjita½, sukha½ dukkhato d³ra½ vivajjita½. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, te ubho aññamañña½ d³ra½ vivajjit±.
“Api ca, mah±r±ja, m± te pucch± mogh± assa [assu (s². sy±.)], rasato te sa½sanditv± kathayiss±mi ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti ya½ bhagav± ±ha, ta½ khaya½ parid²payanto sesaka½ paricchindi, vassasahassa½, ±nanda, saddhammo tiµµheyya, sace bhikkhuniyo na pabb±jeyyu½. Pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²ti. Api nu kho, mah±r±ja, bhagav± eva½ vadanto saddhammassa antaradh±na½ v± vadeti abhisamaya½ v± paµikkosat²”ti? “Na hi bhante”ti. “Naµµha½, mah±r±ja, parikittayanto sesaka½ parid²payanto paricchindi. Yath±, mah±r±ja, puriso naµµh±yiko sabbasesaka½ gahetv± janassa parid²peyya ‘ettaka½ me bhaº¹a½ naµµha½, ida½ sesakan’ti Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, bhagav± naµµha½ parid²payanto sesaka½ devamanuss±na½ kathesi ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti. Ya½ pana, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± bhaºita½ ‘pañceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassat²’ti, s±sanaparicchedo eso.
“Ya½ pana parinibb±nasamaye subhaddassa paribb±jakassa samaºe parikittayanto ±ha ‘ime ca, subhadda, bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti, paµipattiparid²pan± es±, tva½ pana ta½ paricchedañca parid²panañca ekarasa½ karosi. Yadi pana te chando, ekarasa½ katv± kathayiss±mi, s±dhuka½ suºohi manasikarohi avikkhittam±naso [avicalam±naso (s².) avim±naso (p². ka.)].
“Idha, mah±r±ja, ta¼±ko bhaveyya navasalilasampuººo sammukhamuttariyam±no paricchinno parivaµumakato, apariy±diººe yeva tasmi½ ta¼±ke udak³pari mah±megho apar±para½ anuppabandho abhivasseyya, api nu kho, mah±r±ja, tasmi½ ta¼±ke udaka½ parikkhaya½ pariy±d±na½ gaccheyy±”ti? “Na hi bhante”ti. “Kena k±raºena mah±r±j±”ti? “Meghassa, bhante, anuppabandhat±y±”ti. “Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, jinas±sanavarasaddhammata¼±ko ±c±ras²laguºavattapaµipattivimalanavasalilasampuººo uttariyam±no bhavaggamabhibhavitv± µhito. Yadi tattha buddhaputt± ±c±ras²laguºavattapaµipattimeghavassa½ apar±para½ anuppabandh±peyyu½ abhivass±peyyu½. Evamida½ jinas±sanavarasaddhammata¼±ko cira½ d²ghamaddh±na½ tiµµheyya, arahantehi loko asuñño bhaveyya, imamattha½ bhagavat± sandh±ya bh±sita½ ‘ime ca, subhadda, bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti.
“Idha pana, mah±r±ja, mahati mah±-aggikkhandhe jalam±ne apar±para½ sukkhatiºakaµµhagomay±ni upasa½hareyyu½, api nu kho so, mah±r±ja, aggikkhandho nibb±yeyy±”ti “Na hi, bhante, bhiyyo bhiyyo so aggikkhandho jaleyya, bhiyyo bhiyyo pabh±seyy±”ti. “Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, dasasahassiy± [dasasahassimhi (bah³su)] lokadh±tuy± jinas±sanavarampi ±c±ras²laguºavattapaµipattiy± jalati pabh±sati. Yadi pana, mah±r±ja, taduttari½ buddhaputt± pañcahi padh±niyaªgehi samann±gat± satatamappamatt± padaheyyu½, t²su sikkh±su chandaj±t± sikkheyyu½, c±rittañca s²la½ samatta½ parip³reyyu½, evamida½ jinas±sanavara½ bhiyyo bhiyyo cira½ d²ghamaddh±na½ tiµµheyya, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±ti imamattha½ bhagavat± sandh±ya bh±sita½ ‘ime ca, subhadda, bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti.
“Idha pana, mah±r±ja, siniddhasamasumajjitasappabh±savimal±d±sa½ [sappabha½ suvimal±d±sa½ (s².)] saºhasukhumagerukacuººena apar±para½ majjeyyu½, api nu kho, mah±r±ja, tasmi½ ±d±se malakaddamarajojalla½ j±yeyy±”ti? “Na hi, bhante, aññadatthu vimalatara½ yeva bhaveyy±”ti. “Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, jinas±sanavara½ pakatinimmala½ byapagatakilesamalarajojalla½, yadi ta½ buddhaputt± ±c±ras²laguºavattapaµipattisallekhadhutaguºena jinas±sanavara½ sallakkheyyu½ [sallikkheyyu½ (s². p².)], evamida½ jinas±sanavara½ cira½ d²ghamaddh±na½ tiµµheyya, asuñño ca loko arahantehi ass±ti imamattha½ bhagavat± sandh±ya bh±sita½ ‘ime ca, subhadda, bhikkh³ samm± vihareyyu½, asuñño loko arahantehi ass±’ti. Paµipattim³laka½, mah±r±ja, satthus±sana½ paµipattik±raºa½ paµipattiy± anantarahit±ya tiµµhat²”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, ‘saddhammantaradh±nan’ti ya½ vadesi, katama½ ta½ saddhammantaradh±nan”ti? “T²ºim±ni, mah±r±ja, s±sanantaradh±n±ni. Katam±ni t²ºi? Adhigamantaradh±na½ paµipattantaradh±na½ liªgantaradh±na½ adhigame, mah±r±ja, antarahite suppaµipannass±pi dhamm±bhisamayo na hoti, paµipattiy± antarahit±ya sikkh±padapaññatti antaradh±yati, liªga½yeva tiµµhati, liªge antarahite paveºupacchedo hoti, im±ni kho, mah±r±ja, t²ºi antaradh±n±n²”ti.
“Suviññ±pito, bhante n±gasena, pañho, gambh²ro utt±n²kato, gaºµhi bhinno, naµµh± parav±d± bhagg± nippabh± kat±, tva½ gaºivaravasabham±sajj±ti.
