M±taªgen±pi isin± br±hmaºakaññ±ya utunik±le dakkhiºena hatthaªguµµhena n±bhi par±maµµh±, tassa tena n±bhipar±masanena maº¹abyo n±ma m±ºavako nibbattoti. Yadi, bhante n±gasena, bhagavat± bhaºita½ ‘tiººa½ kho pana, bhikkhave, sannip±t± gabbhassa avakkanti hot²’ti. Tena hi s±mo ca kum±ro maº¹abyo ca m±ºavako ubhopi te n±bhipar±masanena nibbatt±ti ya½ vacana½, ta½ micch±. Yadi, bhante, tath±gatena bhaºita½ ‘s±mo ca kum±ro maº¹abyo ca m±ºavako n±bhipar±masanena nibbatt±”ti, tena hi ‘tiººa½ kho pana, bhikkhave, sannip±t± gabbhassa avakkanti hot²’ti ya½ vacana½, tampi micch±. Ayampi ubhato koµiko pañho sugambh²ro sunipuºo visayo buddhimant±na½, so tav±nuppatto, chinda vimatipatha½, dh±rehi ñ±ºavarappajjotan”ti.
“Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± ‘tiººa½ kho pana, bhikkhave, sannip±t± gabbhassa avakkanti hoti, idha m±t±pitaro ca sannipatit± honti, m±t± ca utun² hoti, gandhabbo ca paccupaµµhito hoti, eva½ tiººa½ sannip±t± gabbhassa avakkanti hot²’ti. Bhaºitañca ‘s±mo ca kum±ro maº¹abyo ca m±ºavako n±bhipar±masanena nibbatt±”ti. “Tena hi, bhante n±gasena, yena k±raºena pañho suvinicchito hoti, tena k±raºena ma½ saññ±peh²”ti.
“Sutapubba½ pana tay±, mah±r±ja, sa½kicco ca kum±ro isisiªgo ca t±paso thero ca kum±rakassapo ‘imin± n±ma te nibbatt±”ti? “¾ma, bhante, suyyati, abbhuggat± tesa½ j±ti, dve migadhenuyo t±va utunik±le dvinna½ t±pas±na½ pass±vaµµh±na½ ±gantv± sasambhava½ pass±va½ pivi½su, tena pass±vasambhavena sa½kicco ca kum±ro isisiªgo ca t±paso nibbatt±. Therassa ud±yissa bhikkhunupassaya½ upagatassa rattacittena bhikkhuniy± aªgaj±ta½ upanijjh±yantassa sambhava½ k±s±ve mucci. Atha kho ±yasm± ud±yi ta½ bhikkhuni½ etadavoca ‘gaccha bhagini, udaka½ ±hara antarav±saka½ dhoviss±m²’ti. ‘¾harayya ahameva dhoviss±m²’ti. Tato s± bhikkhun² utunisamaye ta½ sambhava½ ekadesa½ mukhena aggahesi, ekadesa½ aªgaj±te pakkhipi, tena thero kum±rakassapo nibbattoti eta½ jano ±h±”ti.
“Api nu kho tva½, mah±r±ja, saddahasi ta½ vacanan”ti? “¾ma bhante, balava½ tattha maya½ k±raºa½ upalabh±ma, yena maya½ k±raºena saddah±ma ‘imin± k±raºena nibbatt±”ti. “Ki½ panettha, mah±r±ja, k±raºan”ti? “Suparikammakate bhante, kalale b²ja½ nipatitv± khippa½ sa½viruhat²”ti “¾ma mah±r±j±”ti. “Evameva kho, bhante, s± bhikkhun² utun² sam±n± saºµhite kalale ruhire pacchinnavege µhit±ya dh±tuy± ta½ sambhava½ gahetv± tasmi½ kalale pakkhipi, tena tass± gabbho saºµh±si, eva½ tattha k±raºa½ paccema tesa½ nibbattiy±”ti. “Evameta½, mah±r±ja, tath± sampaµicch±mi, yonippavesena gabbho sambhavat²ti. Sampaµicchasi pana, tva½ mah±r±ja, therassa kum±rakassapassa gabbh±vakkamanan”ti? “¾ma bhante”ti. “S±dhu, mah±r±ja, pacc±gatosi mama visaya½, ekavidhenapi gabbh±vakkanti½ kathayanto mam±nubala½ bhavissasi, atha y± pana t± dve migadhenuyo pass±va½ pivitv± gabbha½ paµilabhi½su, t±sa½ tva½ saddahasi gabbhass±vakkamanan”ti? “¾ma, bhante, ya½ kiñci bhutta½ p²ta½ kh±yita½ lehita½, sabba½ ta½ kalala½ osarati, µh±nagata½ vu¹¹him±pajjati. Yath±, bhante n±gasena, y± k±ci sarit± n±ma, sabb± t± mah±samudda½ osaranti, µh±nagat± vu¹¹him±pajjanti. Evameva kho, bhante n±gasena, ya½ kiñci bhutta½ p²ta½ kh±yita½ lehita½, sabba½ ta½ kalala½ osarati, µh±nagata½ vu¹¹him±pajjati, ten±ha½ k±raºena saddah±mi mukhagatenapi gabbhassa avakkanti hot²”ti. “S±dhu, mah±r±ja, g±¼hatara½ upagatosi mama visaya½, mukhap±nenapi dvayasannip±to bhavati. Sa½kiccassa ca, mah±r±ja, kum±rassa isisiªgassa ca t±pasassa therassa ca kum±rakassapassa gabbh±vakkamana½ sampaµicchas²”ti? “¾ma, bhante, sannip±to osarat²”ti.
“S±mopi, mah±r±ja, kum±ro maº¹abyopi m±ºavako t²su sannip±tesu antogadh±, ekaras± yeva purimena, tattha k±raºa½ vakkh±mi. Duk³lo ca, mah±r±ja, t±paso p±rik± ca t±pas² ubhopi te araññav±s± ahesu½ pavivek±dhimutt± uttamatthagavesak±, tapatejena y±va brahmaloka½ sant±pesu½ Tesa½ tad± sakko dev±namindo s±ya½ p±ta½ upaµµh±na½ ±gacchati. So tesa½ garukatamettat±ya upadh±rento addasa an±gatamaddh±ne dvinnampi tesa½ cakkh³na½ antaradh±na½, disv± te evam±ha ‘eka½ me, bhonto, vacana½ karotha, s±dhu eka½ putta½ janeyy±tha, so tumh±ka½ upaµµh±ko bhavissati ±lambano c±’ti. ‘Ala½, kosiya, m± eva½ bhaº²’ti. Te tassa ta½ vacana½ na sampaµicchi½su. Anukampako atthak±mo sakko dev±namindo dutiyampi…pe… tatiyampi te evam±ha ‘eka½ me, bhonto, vacana½ karotha, s±dhu eka½ putta½ janeyy±tha, so tumh±ka½ upaµµh±ko bhavissati ±lambano c±’ti. Tatiyampi te ±ha½su ‘ala½, kosiya, m± tva½ kho amhe anatthe niyojehi, kad±ya½ k±yo na bhijjissati, bhijjatu aya½ k±yo bhedanadhammo, bhijjantiy±pi dharaºiy± patantepi selasikhare phalantepi ±k±se patantepi candimas³riye neva maya½ lokadhammehi missayiss±ma, m± tva½ amh±ka½ sammukhabh±va½ upagaccha, upagatassa te eso viss±so, anatthacaro tva½ maññe’ti.
Tato sakko dev±namindo tesa½ mana½ alabham±no garukato pañjaliko puna y±ci ‘yadi me vacana½ na ussahatha k±tu½, yad± t±pas² utun² hoti pupphavat², tad± tva½, bhante, dakkhiºena hatthaªguµµhena n±bhi½ par±maseyy±si, tena s± gabbha½ lacchati, sannip±to yevesa gabbh±vakkantiy±’ti. ‘Sakkomaha½, kosiya, ta½ vacana½ k±tu½, na t±vatakena amh±ka½ tapo bhijjati, hot³’ti sampaµicchi½su. T±ya ca pana vel±ya devabhavane atthi devaputto ussannakusalam³lo kh²º±yuko ±yukkhayappatto yadicchaka½ samattho okkamitu½ api cakkavattikulepi. Atha sakko dev±namindo ta½ devaputta½ upasaªkamitv± evam±ha ‘ehi kho, m±risa, supabh±to te divaso, atthasiddhi upagat±, yamaha½ te upaµµh±nam±gami½, ramaº²ye te ok±se v±so bhavissati, patir³pe kule paµisandhi bhavissati, sundarehi m±t±pit³hi va¹¹hetabbo, ehi me vacana½ karoh²’ti y±ci. Dutiyampi…pe… tatiyampi y±ci sirasi pañjalikato.
Tato so devaputto evam±ha ‘katama½ ta½, m±risa, kula½, ya½ tva½ abhikkhaºa½ kittayasi punappunan’ti. ‘Duk³lo ca t±paso p±rik± ca t±pas²’ti. Tasmi½, mah±r±ja, divase t±pas² ca utun² pupphavat² ahosi, devaputto ca tatth³pago paccupaµµhito ahosi, t±paso ca dakkhiºena hatthaªguµµhena t±pasiy± n±bhi½ par±masi, iti te tayo sannip±t± ahesu½, n±bhipar±masanena t±pasiy± r±go udap±di, so panass± r±go n±bhipar±masana½ paµicca m± tva½ sannip±ta½ ajjh±c±rameva maññi, ³hasanampi [hasanampi (ka.)] sannip±to, ullapanampi sannip±to, upanijjh±yanampi sannip±to, pubbabh±gabh±vato r±gassa upp±d±ya ±masanena sannip±to j±yati, sannip±t± okkamana½ hot²ti.

Tesu tesu kulesu t±dis± yeva satt± sambhavanti. Atha sakko dev±namindo tassa kulassa anukamp±ya ta½ devaputta½ ±y±cati ‘paºidhehi, m±risa, asukassa kulassa mahesiy± kucchin’ti. So tassa ±y±canahetu ta½ kula½ paºidheti. Yath±, mah±r±ja, manuss± puññak±m± samaºa½ manobh±van²ya½ ±y±citv± geha½ upanenti, aya½ upagantv± sabbassa kulassa sukh±vaho bhavissat²ti. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, sakko dev±namindo ta½ devaputta½ ±y±citv± ta½ kula½ upaneti. Eva½ ±y±canavasena satt±na½ gabbh±vakkanti hoti.
“S±mo, mah±r±ja, kum±ro sakkena dev±namindena ±y±cito p±rik±ya t±pasiy± kucchi½ okkanto. S±mo, mah±r±ja, kum±ro katapuñño, m±t±pitaro s²lavanto kaly±ºadhamm±, ±y±cako sakko, tiººa½ cetopaºidhiy± s±mo kum±ro nibbatto. Idha, mah±r±ja, nayakusalo puriso sukaµµhe an³pakhette b²ja½ ropeyya, api nu tassa b²jassa antar±ya½ vivajjentassa vu¹¹hiy± koci antar±yo bhaveyy±”ti “Na hi, bhante, nirupagh±ta½ b²ja½ khippa½ sa½viruheyy±”ti. “Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, s±mo kum±ro mutto uppannantar±yehi tiººa½ cetopaºidhiy± nibbatto.
“Api nu kho, mah±r±ja, sutapubba½ tay± is²na½ manopadosena iddho ph²to mah±janapado sajano samucchinno”ti? “¾ma, bhante, suyyati. Mahiy± daº¹ak±rañña½ [daº¹ak²rañña½ (ma. ni. 2.65)] majjh±rañña½ k±liªg±rañña½ m±taªg±rañña½, sabba½ ta½ arañña½ araññabh³ta½, sabbepete janapad± is²na½ manopadosena khaya½ gat±”ti. “Yadi mah±r±ja, tesa½ manopadosena susamiddh± janapad± ucchijjanti, api nu kho tesa½ manopas±dena kiñci nibbatteyy±”ti? “¾ma bhante”ti. “Tena hi, mah±r±ja, s±mo kum±ro tiººa½ balavant±na½ cetopas±dena nibbatto isinimmito devanimmito puññanimmitoti. Evameta½, mah±r±ja, dh±rehi.
“Tayome, mah±r±ja, devaputt± sakkena dev±namindena ±y±cit± kula½ uppann±. Katame tayo? S±mo kum±ro mah±pan±do kusar±j±, tayopete bodhisatt±”ti. “Suniddiµµh±, bhante n±gasena, gabbh±vakkanti, sukathita½ k±raºa½, andhak±ro ±loko kato, jaµ± vijaµit±, nicchuddh± parav±d±, evameta½ tath± sampaµicch±m²”ti.
