Atha kho milindo r±j± yen±yasm± n±gaseno tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± ±yasmat± n±gasenena saddhi½ sammodi, sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. ¾yasm±pi kho n±gaseno paµisammodan²yeneva [paµisammodi, teneva (s².)] milindassa rañño citta½ ±r±dhesi. Atha kho milindo r±j± ±yasmanta½ n±gasena½ etadavoca “katha½ bhadanto ñ±yati, kinn±mosi bhante”ti? “N±gaseno”ti kho aha½, mah±r±ja, ñ±y±mi, “n±gaseno”ti kho ma½, mah±r±ja, sabrahmac±r² samud±caranti, api ca m±t±pitaro n±ma½ karonti “n±gaseno”ti v± “s³raseno”ti v± “v²raseno”ti v± “s²haseno”ti v±, api ca kho, mah±r±ja, saªkh± samaññ± paññatti voh±ro n±mamatta½ yadida½ n±gasenoti, na hettha puggalo upalabbhat²ti.
Atha kho milindo r±j± evam±ha “suºantu me bhonto pañcasat± yonak± as²tisahass± ca bhikkh³, aya½ n±gaseno evam±ha ‘na hettha puggalo upalabbhat²’ti, kalla½ nu kho tadabhinanditun”ti. Eva½ vutte pañcasat± yonak± ±yasmato n±gasenassa s±dhuk±ra½ datv± milinda½ r±j±na½ etadavocu½ “id±ni kho tva½, mah±r±ja, sakkonto bh±sass³”ti.
Atha kho milindo r±j± ±yasmanta½ n±gasena½ etadavoca “n±ha½, bhante n±gasena, mus± bhaº±mi, ²sañca paµicca akkhañca paµicca cakk±ni ca paµicca rathapañjarañca paµicca rathadaº¹akañca paµicca ‘ratho’ti saªkh± samaññ± paññatti voh±ro n±mamatta½ pavattat²”ti.
“S±dhu kho, tva½ mah±r±ja, ratha½ j±n±si, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, mayhampi kese ca paµicca lome ca paµicca…pe… matthake matthaluªgañca paµicca r³pañca paµicca vedanañca paµicca saññañca paµicca saªkh±re ca paµicca viññ±ºañca paµicca ‘n±gaseno’ti saªkh± samaññ± paññatti voh±ro n±mamatta½ pavattati, paramatthato panettha puggalo n³palabbhati. Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, vajir±ya bhikkhuniy± bhagavato sammukh±–

eva½ khandhesu santesu, hoti “satto”ti sammut²”’ti [passa sa½. ni. 1.171].
“Acchariya½, bhante n±gasena, abbhuta½, bhante n±gasena, aticitr±ni pañhapaµibh±n±ni visajjit±ni, yadi buddho tiµµheyya s±dhuk±ra½ dadeyya, s±dhu s±dhu n±gasena, aticitr±ni pañhapaµibh±n±ni visajjit±n²”ti.
