R±j± ±ha “bhante n±gasena, sukh± vedan± kusal± v± akusal± v± aby±kat± v±”ti? “Siy±, mah±r±ja, kusal±, siy± akusal±, siy± aby±kat±”ti. “Yadi, bhante, kusal± na dukkh±, yadi dukkh± na kusal±, kusala½ dukkhanti nuppajjat²”ti. “Ta½ ki½ maññasi, mah±r±ja, idha purisassa hatthe tatta½ ayogu¼a½ nikkhipeyya, dutiye hatthe s²ta½ himapiº¹a½ nikkhipeyya, ki½ nu kho, mah±r±ja, ubhopi te daheyyun”ti? “¾ma, bhante, ubhopi te daheyyun”ti. “Ki½ nu kho, te mah±r±ja, ubhopi uºh±”ti? “Na hi bhante”ti. “Ki½ pana te, mah±r±ja, ubhopi s²tal±”ti? “Na hi bhante”ti. “¾j±n±hi niggaha½ yadi tatta½ dahati, na ca te ubhopi uºh±, tena nuppajjati. Yadi s²tala½ dahati, na ca te ubhopi s²tal±, tena nuppajjati. Kissa pana te, mah±r±ja, ubhopi dahanti, na ca te ubhopi uºh±, na ca te ubhopi s²tal±? Eka½ uºha½, eka½ s²tala½, ubhopi te dahanti, tena nuppajjat²”ti. “N±ha½ paµibalo tay± v±din± saddhi½ sallapitu½, s±dhu attha½ jappeh²”ti. Tato thero abhidhammasa½yutt±ya kath±ya r±j±na½ milinda½ saññ±pesi–
“Chayim±ni mah±r±ja, gehanissit±ni somanass±ni, cha nekkhammanissit±ni somanass±ni, cha gehanissit±ni domanass±ni, cha nekkhammanissit±ni domanass±ni, cha gehanissit± upekkh±, cha nekkhammanissit± upekkh±ti, im±ni cha chakk±ni, at²t±pi chatti½savidh± vedan±, an±gat±pi chatti½savidh± vedan±, paccuppann±pi chatti½savidh± vedan±, tadekajjha½ abhisaññuhitv± abhisampiº¹etv± aµµhasata½ vedan± hont²”ti.
