5. “Bhante n±gasena, imasmi½ loke naran±riyo supina½ passanti kaly±ºampi p±pakampi, diµµhapubbampi adiµµhapubbampi, katapubbampi akatapubbampi, khemampi sabhayampi, d³repi santikepi, bahuvidh±nipi anekavaººasahass±ni dissanti, kiñceta½ supina½ n±ma, ko ceta½ passat²”ti? “Nimittameta½, mah±r±ja, supina½ n±ma, ya½ cittassa ±p±ta [±p±tha (s². p².)] mupagacchati. Chayime, mah±r±ja, supina½ passanti, v±tiko supina½ passati, pittiko supina½ passati, semhiko supina½ passati, devat³pasa½h±rato supina½ passati, samud±ciººato supina½ passati, pubbanimittato supina½ passati, tatra, mah±r±ja, ya½ pubbanimittato supina½ passati, ta½ yeva sacca½, avasesa½ micch±”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, yo pubbanimittato supina½ passati, ki½ tassa citta½ saya½ gantv± ta½ nimitta½ vicin±ti, ta½ v± nimitta½ cittassa ±p±tamupagacchati, añño v± ±gantv± tassa ±rocet²”ti? “Na, mah±r±ja, tassa citta½ saya½ gantv± ta½ nimitta½ vicin±ti, n±pi añño koci ±gantv± tassa ±roceti, atha kho ta½ yeva nimitta½ cittassa ±p±tamupagacchati. Yath±, mah±r±ja, ±d±so na saya½ kuhiñci gantv± ch±ya½ vicin±ti, n±pi añño koci ch±ya½ ±netv± ±d±sa½ ±ropeti [±roceti (ka.)], atha kho yato kutoci ch±y± ±gantv± ±d±sassa ±p±tamupagacchati, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, na tassa citta½ saya½ gantv± ta½ nimitta½ vicin±ti, n±pi añño koci ±gantv± ±roceti, atha kho yato kutoci nimitta½ ±gantv± cittassa ±p±tamupagacchat²”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, ya½ ta½ citta½ supina½ passati, api nu ta½ citta½ j±n±ti ‘eva½ n±ma vip±ko bhavissati khema½ v± bhaya½ v±’ti? “Na hi, mah±r±ja, ta½ citta½ j±n±ti ‘eva½vip±ko bhavissati khema½ v± bhaya½ v±’ti, nimitte pana uppanne aññesa½ katheti, tato te attha½ kathent²”ti.
“Iªgha, bhante n±gasena, k±raºa½ me dasseh²”ti. “Yath±, mah±r±ja, sar²re tilak± p²¼ak± dadd³ni uµµhahanti l±bh±ya v± al±bh±ya v±, yas±ya v± ayas±ya v±, nind±ya v± pasa½s±ya v±, sukh±ya v± dukkh±ya v±, api nu t±, mah±r±ja, p²¼ak± j±nitv± uppajjanti ‘ima½ n±ma maya½ attha½ nipph±dess±m±”’ti? “Na hi, bhante, y±dise t± ok±se p²¼ak± sambhavanti, tattha t± p²¼ak± disv± nemittak± by±karonti ‘eva½ n±ma vip±ko bhavissat²”’ti. “Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, ya½ ta½ citta½ supina½ passati, na ta½ citta½ j±n±ti ‘eva½ n±ma vip±ko bhavissati khema½ v± bhaya½ v±’ti, nimitte pana uppanne aññesa½ katheti, tato te attha½ kathent²”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, yo supina½ passati, so nidd±yanto, ud±hu j±garanto [jagganto (s². p².)] passat²”ti? “Yo so, mah±r±ja, supina½ passati, na so nidd±yanto passati, n±pi j±garanto passati. Api ca okkante middhe asampatte bhavaªge etthantare supina½ passati. Middhasam±r³¼hassa, mah±r±ja, citta½ bhavaªgagata½ hoti, bhavaªgagata½ citta½ nappavattati, appavatta½ citta½ sukhadukkha½ nappaj±n±ti, appaµivij±nantassa supino na hoti, pavattam±ne citte supina½ passati.
“Yath±, mah±r±ja, timire andhak±re appabh±se suparisuddhepi ±d±se ch±y± na dissati evameva kho, mah±r±ja, middhasam±r³¼he citte bhavaªgagate tiµµham±nepi sar²re citta½ appavatta½ hoti, appavatte citte supina½ na passati Yath±, mah±r±ja, ±d±so, eva½ sar²ra½ daµµhabba½; yath± andhak±ro, eva½ middha½ daµµhabba½; yath± ±loko, eva½ citta½ daµµhabba½.
“Yath± v± pana, mah±r±ja, mahikotthaµassa s³riyassa pabh± na dissati sant± yeva s³riyarasmi appavatt± hoti, appavatt±ya s³riyarasmiy± ±loko na hoti, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, middhasam±r³¼hassa citta½ bhavaªgagata½ hoti, bhavaªgagata½ citta½ nappavattati, appavatte citte supina½ na passati. Yath±, mah±r±ja, s³riyo, eva½ sar²ra½ daµµhabba½; yath± mahikottharaºa½, eva½ middha½ daµµhabba½; yath± s³riyarasmi, eva½ citta½ daµµhabba½.
“Dvinna½, mah±r±ja, santepi sar²re citta½ appavatta½ hoti, middhasam±r³¼hassa bhavaªgagatassa santepi sar²re citta½ appavatta½ hoti, nirodhasam±pannassa santepi sar²re citta½ appavatta½ hoti, j±garantassa, mah±r±ja, citta½ lola½ hoti vivaµa½ p±kaµa½ anibaddha½, evar³passa citte nimitta½ ±p±ta½ na upeti. Yath±, mah±r±ja, purisa½ vivaµa½ p±kaµa½ akiriya½ arahassa½ rahassak±m± parivajjenti, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, j±garantassa dibbo attho ±p±ta½ na upeti, tasm± j±garanto supina½ na passati. Yath± v± pana, mah±r±ja, bhikkhu½ bhinn±j²va½ an±c±ra½ p±pamitta½ duss²la½ kus²ta½ h²nav²riya½ kusal± bodhipakkhiy± dhamm± ±p±ta½ na upenti, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, j±garantassa dibbo attho ±p±ta½ na upeti, tasm± j±garanto supina½ na passat²”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, atthi middhassa ±dimajjhapariyos±nan”ti? “¾ma, mah±r±ja, atthi middhassa ±dimajjhapariyos±nan”ti. “Katama½ ±di, katama½ majjha½, katama½ pariyos±nan”ti? “Yo, mah±r±ja, k±yassa on±ho pariyon±ho dubbalya½ mandat± akammaññat± k±yassa, aya½ middhassa ±di; yo, mah±r±ja, kapinidd±pareto vokiººaka½ jaggati [vokiººata½ gacchati (nisya)], ida½ middhassa majjha½; bhavaªgagati pariyosana½. Majjh³pagato, mah±r±ja, kapinidd±pareto supina½ passati. Yath±, mah±r±ja, koci yatac±r² sam±hitacitto µhitadhammo acalabuddhi pah²nakot³halasadda½ vanamajjhog±hitv± sukhuma½ attha½ cintayati, na ca so tattha middha½ okkamati, so tattha sam±hito ekaggacitto sukhuma½ attha½ paµivijjhati, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, j±garo na middhasam±panno majjh³pagato kapinidd±pareto supina½ passati.
