9. “Bhante n±gasena, bh±sitampeta½ bhagavat±–
“‘G±th±bhig²ta½ me abhojaneyya½ [abhojan²ya½ (ka.) su. ni. 81 passitabba½], sampassata½ br±hmaºa nesa dhamm±;
g±th±bhig²ta½ panudanti buddh±, dhamme sat² br±hmaºa vuttires±’ti.
“Puna ca bhagav± paris±ya dhamma½ desento kathento anupubbikatha½ paµhama½ t±va d±nakatha½ katheti, pacch± s²lakatha½, tassa bhagavato sabbalokissarassa bh±sita½ sutv± devamanuss± abhisaªkharitv± d±na½ denti, tassa ta½ uyyojita½ d±na½ s±vak± paribhuñjanti. Yadi, bhante n±gasena, bhagavat± bhaºita½ ‘g±th±bhig²ta½ me abhojaneyyan’ti, tena hi ‘bhagav± d±nakatha½ paµhama½ kathet²’ti ya½ vacana½, ta½ micch±. Yadi d±nakatha½ paµhama½ katheti, tena hi ‘g±th±bhig²ta½ me abhojaneyyan’ti tampi vacana½ micch±. Ki½ k±raºa½? Yo so, bhante, dakkhiºeyyo gih²na½ piº¹ap±tad±nassa vip±ka½ katheti, tassa te dhammakatha½ sutv± pasannacitt± apar±para½ d±na½ denti, ye ta½ d±na½ paribhuñjanti, sabbe te g±th±bhig²ta½ paribhuñjanti. Ayampi ubhato koµiko pañho nipuºo gambh²ro tap±nuppatto, so tay± nibb±hitabbo”ti.
“Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± ‘g±th±bhig²ta½ me abhojaneyya½, sampassata½ br±hmaºa nesa dhammo. G±th±bhig²ta½ panudanti buddh±, dhamme sat² br±hmaºa vuttires±’ti, katheti ca bhagav± paµhama½ d±nakatha½, tañca pana kiriya½ sabbesa½ tath±gat±na½ paµhama½ d±nakath±ya, tattha citta½ abhiram±petv± pacch± s²le niyojenti. Yath±, mah±r±ja, manuss± taruºad±rak±na½ paµhama½ t±va k²¼±bhaº¹ak±ni denti. Seyyathida½, vaªkaka½ ghaµika½ ciªgulaka½ patt±¼haka½ rathaka½ dhanuka½, pacch± te sake sake kamme niyojenti. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, tath±gato paµhama½ d±nakath±ya citta½ abhiram±petv± pacch± s²le niyojeti.
“Yath± v± pana, mah±r±ja, bhisakko n±ma ±tur±na½ paµhama½ t±va cat³hapañc±ha½ tela½ p±yeti balakaraº±ya sinehan±ya, pacch± vireceti. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, tath±gato paµhama½ t±va d±nakath±ya citta½ abhiram±petv± pacch± s²le niyojeti. D±yak±na½, mah±r±ja, d±napat²na½ citta½ muduka½ hoti maddava½ siniddha½, tena te d±nasetusaªkamena d±nan±v±ya sa½s±ras±garap±ramanugacchanti, tasm± tesa½ paµhama½ kammabh³mimanus±sati, na ca kenaci [tena (s². p².)] viññattim±pajjat²”ti.
“Bhante n±gasena, ‘viññattin’ti ya½ vadesi, kati pana t± viññattiyo”ti? “Dvem±, mah±r±ja, viññattiyo k±yaviññatti vac²viññatti c±ti. Tattha atthi k±yaviññatti s±vajj±, atthi anavajj±. Atthi vac²viññatti s±vajj±, atthi anavajj±.
“Katam± k±yaviññatti s±vajj±? Idhekacco bhikkhu kul±ni upagantv± anok±se µhito µh±na½ bhañjati, aya½ k±yaviññatti s±vajj±. T±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Puna capara½, mah±r±ja, idhekacco bhikkhu kul±ni upagantv± anok±se µhito gala½ paº±metv± morapekkhita½ pekkhati ‘eva½ ime passant²’ti, tena ca te passanti. Ayampi k±yaviññatti s±vajj±. T±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Puna capara½, mah±r±ja, idhekacco bhikkhu hanuk±ya v± bhamuk±ya v± aªguµµhena v± viññ±peti, ayampi k±yaviññatti s±vajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Katam± k±yaviññatti anavajj±? Idha bhikkhu kul±ni upagantv± sato sam±hito sampaj±no µh±nepi aµµh±nepi yath±nusiµµhi½ gantv± µh±ne tiµµhati, d±tuk±mesu tiµµhati, ad±tuk±mesu pakkamati. Aya½ k±yaviññatti anavajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye vaººito hoti thuto pasattho sallekhit±c±ro, parisuddh±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati. Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± dev±tidevena–
‘Na ve y±canti sappaññ±, dh²ro ca veditumarahati [ariy± garahanti y±cana½ (s². p².)];
uddissa ariy± tiµµhanti, es± ariy±na y±can±’ti.
“Katam± vac²viññatti s±vajj±? Idha, mah±r±ja, bhikkhu v±c±ya bahuvidha½ viññ±peti c²varapiº¹ap±tasen±sanagil±nappaccayabhesajjaparikkh±ra½, aya½ vac²viññatti s±vajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Puna capara½, mah±r±ja, idhekacco bhikkhu paresa½ s±vento eva½ bhaºati ‘imin± me attho’ti, t±ya ca v±c±ya paresa½ s±vit±ya tassa l±bho uppajjati, ayampi vac²viññatti s±vajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Puna capara½, mah±r±ja, idhekacco bhikkhu vac²vipph±rena paris±ya s±veti ‘evañca evañca bhikkh³na½ d±tabban’ti, tañca te vacana½ sutv± parikittita½ abhiharanti, ayampi vac²viññatti s±vajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Nanu, mah±r±ja, theropi s±riputto atthaªgate s³riye rattibh±ge gil±no sam±no therena mah±moggall±nena bhesajja½ pucch²yam±no v±ca½ bhindi, tassa tena vac²bhedena bhesajja½ uppajji. Atha thero s±riputto ‘vac²bhedena me ima½ bhesajja½ uppanna½, m± me ±j²vo bhijj²’ti ±j²vabhedabhay± ta½ bhesajja½ pajahi na upaj²vi. Evampi vac²viññatti s±vajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± na paribhuñjanti. So ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye oññ±to hoti h²¼ito kh²¼ito garahito paribh³to acitt²kato, bhinn±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati.
“Katam± vac²viññatti anavajj±? Idha, mah±r±ja, bhikkhu sati paccaye bhesajja½ viññ±peti ñ±tipav±ritesu kulesu, aya½ vac²viññatti anavajj±, t±ya ca viññ±pita½ ariy± paribhuñjanti, so ca puggalo ariy±na½ samaye vaººito hoti thomito pasattho, parisuddh±j²votveva saªkha½ gacchati, anumato tath±gatehi arahantehi samm±sambuddhehi.
“Ya½ pana, mah±r±ja, tath±gato kasibh±radv±jassa br±hmaºassa bhojana½ pajahi [pajahati (ka.)], ta½ ±veµhanaviniveµhanaka¹¹hananiggahappaµikammena nibbatti, tasm± tath±gato ta½ piº¹ap±ta½ paµikkhipi na upaj²v²”ti.
“Sabbak±la½, bhante n±gasena, tath±gate bhuñjam±ne devat± dibba½ oja½ patte ±kiranti, ud±hu ‘s³karamaddave ca madhup±y±se c±’ti dv²su yeva piº¹ap±tesu ±kiri½s³”ti? “Sabbak±la½, mah±r±ja, tath±gate bhuñjam±ne devat± dibba½ oja½ gahetv± upatiµµhitv± uddhaµuddhaµe ±lope ±kiranti.
“Yath± mah±r±ja, rañño s³do rañño bhuñjantassa s³pa½ gahetv± upatiµµhitv± kaba¼e kaba¼e s³pa½ ±kirati, evameva kho, mah±r±ja, sabbak±la½ tath±gate bhuñjam±ne devat± dibba½ oja½ gahetv± upatiµµhitv± uddhaµuddhaµe ±lope dibba½ oja½ ±kiranti. Verañj±yampi, mah±r±ja tath±gatassa sukkhayavapulake [sukkhayavam³lake (ka.)] bhuñjam±nassa devat± dibbena ojena temayitv± temayitv± upasa½hari½su, tena tath±gatassa k±yo upacito ahos²”ti. “L±bh± vata, bhante n±gasena, t±sa½ devat±na½, y± tath±gatassa sar²rappaµijaggane satata½ samita½ ussukkam±pann±. S±dhu, bhante n±gasena, evameta½ tath± sampaµicch±m²”ti.
