5. “Bhante n±gasena, bh±sitampeta½ bhagavat± ‘pubbe v±ha½ manussabh³to sam±no satt±na½ aviheµhakaj±tiko ahosin’ti. Puna ca bhaºita½ ‘lomasakassapo n±ma isi sam±no anekasate p±ºe gh±tayitv± v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yaj²’ti. Yadi, bhante n±gasena, bhagavat± bhaºita½ ‘pubbe v±ha½ manussabh³to sam±no satt±na½ aviheµhakaj±tiko ahosin’ti, tena hi ‘lomasakassapena isin± anekasate p±ºe gh±tayitv± v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yajitan’ti ya½ vacana½, ta½ micch±. Yadi ‘lomasakassapena isin± anekasate p±ºe gh±tayitv± v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yajita½’, tena hi ‘pubbe v±ha½ manussabh³to sam±no satt±na½ aviheµhakaj±tiko ahosin’ti tampi vacana½ micch±. Ayampi ubhato koµiko pañho tav±nuppatto, so tay± nibb±hitabbo”ti.
“Bh±sitampeta½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± ‘pubbe v±ha½ manussabh³to sam±no satt±na½ aviheµhakaj±tiko ahosin’ti, ‘lomasakassapena isin± anekasate p±ºe gh±tayitv± v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yajita½’, tañca pana r±gavasena visaññin±, no sacetanen±”ti.
“Aµµhime bhante n±gasena, puggal± p±ºa½ hananti. Katame aµµha? Ratto r±gavasena p±ºa½ hanati, duµµho dosavasena p±ºa½ hanati, m³¼ho mohavasena p±ºa½ hanati, m±n² m±navasena p±ºa½ hanati, luddho lobhavasena p±ºa½ hanati, akiñcano j²vikatth±ya p±ºa½ hanati, b±lo hassavasena [aññ±ºavasena (ka. s².)] p±ºa½ hanati, r±j± vinayanavasena p±ºa½ hanati. Ime kho, bhante n±gasena, aµµha puggal± p±ºa½ hananti. P±katika½ yeva, bhante n±gasena, bodhisattena katan”ti “Na, mah±r±ja, p±katika½ bodhisattena kata½, yadi, mah±r±ja, bodhisatto pakatibh±vena onameyya mah±yañña½ yajitu½, na yima½ g±tha½ bhaºeyya–
“‘Sasamuddapariy±ya½, mahi½ s±garakuº¹ala½;
na icche saha nind±ya, eva½ seyha [sayha (s². p².)] vij±nah²’ti.
“Eva½v±d², mah±r±ja, bodhisatto saha dassanena candavatiy± r±jakaññ±ya visaññ² ahosi khittacitto ratto visaññibh³to ±kul±kulo turitaturito tena vikkhittabhantalu¼itacittena mahatimah±pasugh±tagalaruhirasañcaya½ v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yaji.
“Yath±, mah±r±ja, ummattako khittacitto jalitampi j±taveda½ akkamati, kupitampi ±s²visa½ gaºh±ti, mattampi hatthi½ upeti, samuddampi at²radassi½ pakkhandati, candanikampi o¼igallampi omaddati, kaºµak±dh±nampi abhiruhati, pap±tepi patati, asucimpi bhakkheti, naggopi rathiy± carati, aññampi bahuvidha½ akiriya½ karoti. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, bodhisatto saha dassanena candavatiy± r±jakaññ±ya visaññ² ahosi khittacitto ratto visaññibh³to ±kul±kulo turitaturito, tena vikkhittabhantalu¼itacittena mahatimah±pasugh±tagalaruhirasañcaya½ v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yaji.
“Khittacittena, mah±r±ja, kata½ p±pa½ diµµhadhammepi na mah±s±vajja½ hoti, sampar±ye vip±kenapi no tath±. Idha, mah±r±ja, koci ummattako vajjham±pajjeyya, tassa tumhe ki½ daº¹a½ dh±reth±”ti? “Ko, bhante, ummattakassa daº¹o bhavissati, ta½ maya½ poth±petv± n²har±pema, esova tassa daº¹o”ti. “Iti kho, mah±r±ja, ummattakassa apar±dhe daº¹opi na bhavati tasm± ummattakassa katepi na doso bhavati satekiccho. Evameva kho, mah±r±ja, lomasakassapo isi saha dassanena candavatiy± r±jakaññ±ya visaññ² ahosi khittacitto ratto visaññibh³to visaµapay±to ±kul±kulo turitaturito, tena vikkhittabhantalu¼itacittena mahatimah±pasugh±tagalaruhirasañcaya½ v±japeyya½ mah±yañña½ yaji. Yad± ca pana pakaticitto ahosi paµiladdhassati, tad± punadeva pabbajitv± pañc±bhiññ±yo nibbattetv± brahmalok³pago ahos²”ti. “S±dhu, bhante n±gasena, evameta½ tath± sampaµicch±m²”ti.
