Tattha ta½ meti ta½ mama anatthak±ri½ br±hmaºa½ attano vasa½ ±nehi, kilesarativasenassa s²la½ bhind±h²ti.
Ta½ sutv± s± dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
2. “N±ha½ dukkhakkham± r±ja, n±ha½ addh±nakovid±;
katha½ aha½ gamiss±mi, vana½ kuñjarasevitan”ti.
Tattha dukkhakkham±ti aha½, mah±r±ja, dukkhassa kham± na homi, addh±nampi na j±n±mi, s±ha½ katha½ gamiss±m²ti.

3. “Ph²ta½ janapada½ gantv±, hatthin± ca rathena ca;
d±rusaªgh±µay±nena, eva½ gaccha ni¼inike.
4. “Hatthi-assarathe patt², gacchev±d±ya khattiye;
taveva vaººar³pena, vasa½ tam±nayissas²”ti.
Tattha d±rusaªgh±µay±nen±ti, amma, ni¼inike na tva½ padas± gamissasi, ph²ta½ pana subhikkha½ khema½ attano janapada½ hatthiv±hanehi ca rathav±hanehi ca gantv± tato parampi ajjhok±se paµicchannena vayh±din± udakaµµh±ne n±v±saªkh±tena d±rusaªgh±µay±nena gaccha. Vaººar³pen±ti eva½ akilamam±n± gantv± tava vaººena ceva r³pasampad±ya ca ta½ br±hmaºa½ attano vasa½ ±nayissas²ti.
Eva½ so dh²tar± saddhi½ akathetabbampi raµµhaparip±lana½ niss±ya kathesi. S±pi “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchi. Athass± sabba½ d±tabbayuttaka½ datv± amaccehi saddhi½ uyyojesi. Amacc± ta½ ±d±ya paccanta½ patv± tattha khandh±v±ra½ niv±s±petv± r±jadh²tara½ ukkhip±petv± vanacarakena desitena maggena himavanta½ pavisitv± pubbaºhasamaye tassa assamapadassa sam²pa½ p±puºi½su. Tasmi½ khaºe bodhisatto putta½ assamapade niv±s±petv± saya½ phal±phalatth±ya arañña½ paviµµho hoti. eso padissati rammo, isisiªgassa assamo.

maññe no aggi½ h±peti, isisiªgo mahiddhiko”ti.
Tattha kadal²saªkh±t± dhaj± paññ±ºa½ ass±ti kadal²dhajapaññ±ºo. ¾bhuj²pariv±ritoti bhujapattavanaparikkhitto. Saªkh±toti eso aggi assa isisiªgassa jh±nena saªkh±to paccakkhagato jalati. Maññe no agginti aggi½ no h±peti juhati paricarat²ti maññ±mi.
Amacc±pi bodhisattassa arañña½ paviµµhavel±ya assama½ pariv±retv± ±rakkha½ µhapetv± r±jadh²tara½ isivesa½ g±h±petv± suvaººac²rakena niv±sanap±rupana½ katv± sabb±laªk±rehi alaªkaritv± tantubaddha½ cittageº¹uka½ g±h±petv± assamapada½ pesetv± saya½ bahi rakkhant± aµµha½su. S± tena geº¹ukena k²¼ant² caªkamakoµiya½ otari. Tasmi½ khaºe isisiªgo paººas±ladv±re p±s±ºaphalake nisinno hoti. 9. “Tañca disv±na k²¼anti½, paººas±lagato jaµ²;
assam± nikkhamitv±na, ida½ vacanamabrav²”ti.
Tattha geº¹ukenass±ti assa isisiªgassa assamadv±re geº¹ukena k²¼ati. Vida½sayant²ti dassent². Guyha½ pak±sit±ni c±ti guyhañca rahassaªga½ pak±sit±ni ca p±kaµ±ni mukhahatth±d²ni. Abrav²ti so kira paººas±l±ya µhatv± cintesi– “sac±ya½ yakkho bhaveyya, paººas±la½ pavisitv± ma½ murumur±petv± kh±deyya, n±ya½ yakkho, t±paso bhavissat²”ti assam± nikkhamitv± pucchanto g±tham±ha–
10. “Ambho ko n±ma so rukkho, yassa teva½gata½ phala½;
d³repi khitta½ pacceti, na ta½ oh±ya gacchat²”ti.
Tattha yassa teva½gata½ phalanti yassa tava rukkhassa eva½gatika½ manorama½ phala½. Ko n±ma so rukkhoti citrageº¹ukassa adiµµhapubbatt± “rukkhaphalena tena bhavitabban”ti maññam±no eva½ pucchati.
Athassa s± rukkha½ ±cikkhant² g±tham±ha–
11. “Assamassa mama brahme, sam²pe gandham±dane;
bahavo t±dis± rukkh±, yassa teva½gata½ phala½;
d³repi khitta½ pacceti, na ma½ oh±ya gacchat²”ti.
Tattha sam²pe gandham±daneti gandham±danapabbate mama assamassa sam²pe. Yassa teva½gatanti yassa eva½gata½, ta-k±ro byañjanasandhikaroti.
Iti s± mus±v±da½ abh±si. Itaropi saddahitv± “t±paso eso”ti saññ±ya paµisanth±ra½ karonto g±tham±ha–
12. “Et³ bhava½ assamima½ adetu, pajjañca bhakkhañca paµiccha dammi;
idam±sana½ atra bhava½ nis²datu, ito bhava½ m³laphal±ni bhuñjat³”ti.
Tattha assamimanti assama½ ima½ bhava½ pavisatu. Adet³ti yath±sannihita½ ±h±ra½ paribhuñjatu. Pajjanti p±dabbhañjana½. Bhakkhanti madhuraphal±phala½. Paµicch±ti paµiggaºha. Idam±sananti paviµµhak±le evam±ha.
Tass± paººas±la½ pavisitv± kaµµhattharaºe nis²dantiy± suvaººac²rake dvidh± gate sar²ra½ appaµicchanna½ ahosi. T±paso m±tug±masar²rassa adiµµhapubbatt± ta½ disv± “vaººo eso”ti saññ±ya evam±ha–
13. “Ki½ te ida½ ³r³namantarasmi½, supicchita½ kaºharivappak±sati;
akkh±hi me pucchito etamattha½, kose nu te uttamaªga½ paviµµhan”ti.
Tattha supicchitanti dvinna½ ³r³na½ sam±gamak±le suphusita½ sippipuµamukhasaºµh±na½. Subhalakkhaºena hi asamann±gat±ya ta½ µh±na½ ±v±µadh±tuka½ hoti, samann±gat±ya abbhunnata½ sippipuµamukhasaºµh±na½. Kaºharivappak±sat²ti ubhosu passesu k±¼aka½ viya kh±yati. Kose nu te uttamaªga½ paviµµhanti tava uttamaªga½ liªgasaºµh±na½ na paññ±yati, ki½ nu ta½ tava sar²rasaªkh±te kose paviµµhanti pucchati.
Atha na½ s± vañcayant² g±th±dvayam±ha–
14. “Aha½ vane m³laphalesana½ cara½, ±s±dayi½ accha½ sughorar³pa½;
so ma½ patitv± sahas±jjhapatto, panujja ma½ abbahi uttamaªga½.
15. “Sv±ya½ vaºo khajjati kaº¹uv±yati, sabbañca k±la½ na labh±mi s±ta½;
paho bhava½ kaº¹umima½ vinetu½, kuruta½ bhava½ y±cito br±hmaºatthan”ti.
Tattha ±s±dayinti ghaµµesi½, ±gacchanta½ disv± le¹¹un± paharinti attho. Patitv±ti upadh±vitv±. Sahas±jjhappattoti mama½ sahas± ajjhappatto sampatto. Panujj±ti atha ma½ potetv±. Abbah²ti mukhena mama uttamaªga½ luñcitv± pakk±mi, tato paµµh±ya imasmi½ µh±ne vaºo j±to. Sv±yanti so aya½ tato paµµh±ya mayha½ vaºo khajjati ceva kaº¹uvañca karoti, tappaccay± s±ha½ sabbak±la½ k±yikacetasikasukha½ na labh±mi. Pahoti pahu samattho. Br±hmaºatthanti bhava½ may± y±cito ima½ br±hmaºassa attha½ karotu, ida½ me dukkha½ har±h²ti vadati.

16. “Gambh²rar³po te vaºo salohito, ap³tiko vaºagandho mah± ca;
karomi te kiñci kas±yayoga½, yath± bhava½ paramasukh² bhaveyy±”ti.
Tattha salohitoti rattobh±so. Ap³tikoti p³tima½sarahito. Vaºagandhoti thoka½ duggandho. Kas±yayoganti aha½ keci rukkhakas±ye gahetv± tava eka½ kas±yayoga½ karom²ti.

17. “Na mantayog± na kas±yayog±, na osadh± brahmac±ri kamanti;
ya½ te mudu tena vinehi kaº¹u½, yath± aha½ paramasukh² bhaveyyan”ti.
Tattha kamant²ti, bho brahmac±ri, imasmi½ mama vaºe neva mantayog±, na kas±yayog±, na pupphaphal±d²ni osadh±ni kamanti, anekav±ra½ katehipi tehi etassa ph±sukabh±vo na bh³tapubbo. Ya½ pana te eta½ mudu aªgaj±ta½, tena ghaµµiyam±nasseva tassa kaº¹u na hoti, tasm± tena vinehi kaº¹unti.
