At²te pana b±r±ºas² sudassana½ n±ma nagara½ ahosi, tattha brahmadatto n±ma r±j± ajjh±vasi. Bodhisatto tassa aggamahesiy± kucchimhi nibbatti, dasam±saccayena m±tukucchito nikkhami. Tassa pana puººacandasassirika½ mukha½ ahosi, tenassa “somakum±ro”ti n±ma½ kari½su. So viññuta½ patto sutavittako savanas²lo ahosi, tena na½ “sutasomo”ti sañj±ni½su. So vayappatto takkasil±ya½ sabbasipp±ni uggahetv± ±gato pitu santaka½ setacchatta½ labhitv± dhammena rajja½ k±resi, mahanta½ issariya½ ahosi. Tassa cand±devippamukh±ni so¼asa itthisahass±ni ahesu½. So aparabh±ge puttadh²t±hi va¹¹hanto ghar±v±se anabhirato arañña½ pavisitv± pabbajituk±mo ahosi.
So ekadivasa½ kappaka½ ±mantetv± “yad± me, samma, sirasmi½ palita½ passeyy±si, tad± me ±roceyy±s²”ti ±ha. Kappako tassa vacana½ sampaµicchitv± aparabh±ge palita½ disv± ±rocetv± “tena hi na½, samma kappaka, uddharitv± mama hatthe patiµµhapeh²”ti vutte suvaººasaº¹±sena uddharitv± rañño hatthe µhapesi. Tattha abhunti ava¹¹hi½. Urasi kappes²ti urasmi½ sunisitadhotasatti½ c±resi. Sattasat±ti samaj±tik± khattiyakaññ± sandh±yeta½ vutta½. Katha½ nu te t± bhavissant²ti t± tava bhariy± tayi pabbajite an±th± nippaccay± katha½ bhavissanti, et± an±th± katv± tumh±ka½ pabbajj± n±ma na yutt±ti.

197. “Paññ±yihinti et±, dahar± aññampi t± gamissanti;
saggañca patthay±no, tena aha½ pabbajiss±m²”ti.
Tattha paññ±yihint²ti attano kammena paññ±yissanti. Aha½ et±sa½ ki½ homi, sabb±pet± dahar±, yo añño r±j± bhavissati, ta½ et± gamissant²ti.
Amacc±dayo bodhisattassa paµivacana½ d±tu½ asakkont± tassa m±tu santika½ gantv± tamattha½ ±rocesu½. S± turitaturit± ±gantv± “sacca½ kira tva½, t±ta, pabbajituk±mos²”ti vatv± dve g±th±yo abh±si–
198. “Dulladdha½ me ±si sutasoma, yassa te homaha½ m±t±;
ya½ me vilapantiy±, anapekkho pabbajasi deva.
199. “Dulladdha½ me ±si sutasoma, ya½ ta½ aha½ vij±yissa½;
ya½ me vilapantiy±, anapekkho pabbajasi dev±”ti.
Tattha dulladdhanti ya½ eta½ may± labhantiy± putta½ jamma½ laddha½ dulladdha½. Ya½ meti yena k±raºena mayi n±nappak±raka½ vipalantiy± tva½ pabbajitu½ icchasi, tena k±raºena t±disassa puttassa labhana½ mama dulladdha½ n±m±ti.
Bodhisatto eva½ paridevam±n±yapi m±tar± saddhi½ kiñci na kathesi. S± roditv± kanditv± sayameva ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Athassa pitu ±rocesu½. So ±gantv± eka½ t±va g±tham±ha–
200. “Ko n±meso dhammo, sutasoma k± ca n±ma pabbajj±;
ya½ no amhe jiººe, anapekkho pabbajasi dev±”ti.
Tattha ya½ no amheti ya½ tva½ amh±ka½ putto sam±no amhe jiººe paµijaggitabbak±le appaµijaggitv± pap±te sila½ pavaµµento viya cha¹¹etv± anapekkho pabbajasi, tena ta½ vad±mi ko n±meso tava dhammoti adhipp±yo.

201. “Putt±pi tuyha½ bahavo, dahar± appattayobban±;
mañj³ tepita½ apassant±, maññe dukkha½ nigacchant²”ti.
Tattha mañj³ti madhuravacan±. Nigacchant²ti nigacchissanti k±yikacetasikadukkha½ paµilabhissant²ti maññ±mi.

202. “Puttehi ca me etehi, daharehi appattayobbanehi;
mañj³hi sabbehipi tumhehi, cirampi µhatv± vin±sabh±vo”ti.
Tattha sabbehipi tumheh²ti, t±ta, na kevala½ putteheva, atha kho tumhehipi aññehipi sabbasaªkh±rehi cira½ µhatv±pi d²ghamaddh±na½ µhatv±pi vin±sabh±vova niyato. Sakalasmimpi hi lokasanniv±se ekasaªkh±ropi nicco n±ma natth²ti.

m±ha½ ek± vidhav±, pacch± dukkh±ni addakkhin”ti.
Tattha ya½ meti yasm± mama vilapantiy± tva½ anapekkho pabbajasi, tasm± ya½ may± tava santik± aggamahesiµµh±na½ laddha½, ta½ dulladdhameva ±si. Dutiyag±th±ya yasm± ma½ tva½ kucchipaµisandhi½ pah±ya anapekkho pabbajasi, tasm± ya½ may± tava bhariyatta½ laddha½, ta½ dulladdha½ meti attho. Tattha puttanti, bhadde, tava gabbho paripakkoti j±n±mi, tva½ pana vij±yam±n± putta½ vij±yissasi, na dh²tara½, s± tva½ sotthin± vij±yassu putta½, aha½ pana saddhi½ tay± ta½ putta½ hitv± pabbajiss±miyev±ti.
S± tassa vacana½ sutv± soka½ sandh±retu½ asakkont² “ito d±ni paµµh±ya, deva, amh±ka½ sir² n±ma natth²”ti ubhohi hatthehi hadaya½ dh±rayam±n± ass³ni muñcant² mah±saddena paridevi. Atha na½ samass±sento mah±satto g±tham±ha–
209. “M± tva½ cande rudi, m± soci vanatimiramattakkhi;
±roha varap±s±da½, anapekkho aha½ gamiss±m²”ti.
Tattha m± tva½ cande rud²ti, bhadde cand±devi, tva½ m± rodi m± soci. Vanatimiramattakkh²ti girikaººikapupphasam±nanette. P±¼iya½ pana “kovi¼±ratambakkh²”ti likhita½, tass± kovi¼±rapuppha½ viya tambanetteti attho.

Tattha kopes²ti, amma! Ko n±ma ta½ kopesi, ko te appiya½ ak±si. Pekkhasi c±ti ma½ b±¼ha½ pekkhant² ki½k±raº± rodas²ti adhipp±yo. Ka½ avajjha½ gh±tem²ti agh±tetabbampi ka½ gh±temi attano ñ±t²na½ udikkham±n±naññeva, akkh±hi meti pucchati.
