Ye pamatt±ti, mah±r±ja, ye puggal± pamatt±, te yath± mat±, tatheva daµµhabb±. Kasm±? Akiccas±dhanat±ya. Matassapi hi “aha½ d±na½ dass±mi, s²la½ rakkhiss±mi, uposathakamma½ kariss±mi, kaly±ºakamma½ p³ress±m²”ti ±bhogo v± patthan± v± pariyuµµh±na½ v± natthi apagataviññ±ºatt±, pamattassapi appam±d±bh±v±ti tasm± ubhopete ekasadis±va.
Mad±ti, mah±r±ja, ±rogyayobbanaj²vitamadasaªkh±t± tividh± mad± pam±do n±ma j±yati. So madappatto pam±d±panno p±º±tip±t±d²ni p±pakamm±ni karoti. Sir²ti yasavibhavo. Tacanti yath± urago jiººataca½ jigucchanto jahati, na puna oloketi, eva½ t±disa½ r±j±na½ sir² jahati. Susa½vihitakammantanti k±yadv±r±d²hi p±pakamma½ akaronta½. Abhiva¹¹hant²ti abhimukha½ gacchant± va¹¹hanti. Sa-usabh±miv±ti sa-usabh± iva. Appamattassa hi sa-usabhajeµµhako gogaºo viya bhog± va¹¹hanti. Tattha maggeyy±ti vijjheyya. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yadi tva½ attano abyattat±ya kaºµakena viddho, ko ettha rañño doso. Yena r±j±na½ akkosi, ki½ te raññ± kaºµako oloketv±va ±cikkhitabboti.

Tattha caº¹±ti pharus±. Aµanak±ti pal±yanas²l±. Kh²rak±meh²ti adhammikarañño purisehi bahu½ kh²ra½ ±har±pentehi upaddut± duh±ma. Sace hi so dhammena rajja½ k±reyya, na no evar³pa½ bhaya½ ±gaccheyy±ti.
Te “so yutta½ kathet²”ti tamh± g±m± nikkhamma mah±magga½ ±ruyha nagar±bhimukh± gami½su. Ekasmiñca g±me balis±dhak± asikosatth±ya eka½ taruºa½ kabaravacchaka½ m±retv± camma½ gaºhi½su. Vacchakam±t± dhenu puttasokena tiºa½ na kh±dati p±n²ya½ na pivati, paridevam±n± ±hiº¹ati. Ta½ disv± g±mad±rak± r±j±na½ akkosant± g±tham±ha½su–
362. “Eva½ kandatu pañc±lo, viputto vippasukkhatu;
yath±ya½ kapaº± g±v², viputt± paridh±vat²”ti.

Tattha mah±brahmeti mah±br±hmaºa. R±jinoti rañño. Katha½ noti katha½ nu kena n±ma k±raºena. Kh²rap± haññate paj±ti p±par±jassa sevakehi kh²rapako vacchako haññati, id±ni s± dhenu puttasokena paridevati, sopi r±j± aya½ dhenu viya paridevat³ti r±j±na½ akkosi½suyeva.
Te “s±dhu vo k±raºa½ vadath±”ti vatv± pakkami½su. Athantar±magge ekiss± sukkhapokkharaºiy± k±k± tuº¹ehi vijjhitv± maº¹³ke kh±danti. Bodhisatto tesu ta½ µh±na½ sampattesu attano ±nubh±vena maº¹³kena–
366. “Eva½ khajjatu pañc±lo, hato yuddhe saputtako;
yath±hamajja khajj±mi, g±mikehi araññajo”ti.–
R±j±na½ akkos±pesi.

367. “Na sabbabh³tesu vidhenti rakkha½, r±j±no maº¹³ka manussaloke;

Tattha j²vanti j²vanta½. Adeyyunti kh±deyyu½. Dhaªk±ti k±k±. Ett±vat± r±j± adhammiko n±ma na hoti, ki½ sakk± arañña½ pavisitv± raññ± ta½ rakkhantena caritunti.

368. “Adhammar³po vata brahmac±r², anuppiya½ bh±sasi khattiyassa;

bhutv± bali½ aggapiº¹añca k±k±, na m±disa½ j²vamadeyyu dhaªk±”ti.
Tattha brahmac±r²ti purohita½ garahanto ±ha. Khattiyass±ti evar³passa p±parañño. Viluppam±n±y±ti vilumpam±n±ya, ayameva v± p±µho. Puthuppaj±y±ti vipul±ya paj±ya vin±siyam±n±ya. P³jes²ti pasa½si. Surajjakanti chand±divasena agantv± dasa r±jadhamme akopentena appamattena raññ± rakkhiyam±na½ sace ida½ surajjaka½ bhaveyya. Ph²tanti devesu samm±dh±ra½ anuppavecchantesu sampannasassa½. Na m±disanti eva½ sante m±disa½ j²vam±naññeva k±k± na kh±deyyu½.
Eva½ chasupi µh±nesu akkosana½ bodhisattasseva ±nubh±vena ahosi.
Ta½ sutv± r±j± ca purohito ca “araññav±si½ tiracch±nagata½ maº¹³ka½ up±d±ya sabbe amheyeva akkosant²”ti vatv± tato nagara½ gantv± dhammena rajja½ k±retv± mah±sattassov±de µhit± d±n±d²ni puññ±ni kari½su.
Satth± kosalarañño ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv±, “mah±r±ja, raññ± n±ma agatigamana½ pah±ya dhammena rajja½ k±retabban”ti vatv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi “tad± gandhatindukadevat± ahameva ahosin”ti.
