Mah±r±ja, ima½ t±pasa½ rakkhanto nisinnomhi. Ki½ pana tva½ mah±r±ja, imassa k±rakabh±va½ v± ak±rakabh±va½ v± ñatv± eva½ k±res²ti? So kammassa asodhitabh±va½ ±cikkhi. Athassa so “mah±r±ja, raññ± n±ma nisammak±rin± bhavitabba½ alaso gih² k±mabhog² na s±dh³”ti-±d²ni vatv± dhamma½ desesi. R±j± maº¹abyassa niddosabh±va½ ñatv± “s³la½ harath±”ti ±º±pesi. So sutv±va tuµµhacitto saputtad±ro bah³ gandham±latelaph±ºit±d²ni ±d±ya ta½ paººas±la½ gantv± d²p±yana½ vanditv± p±de dhovitv± telena makkhetv± p±naka½ p±yetv± ±ºimaº¹abyassa pavatti½ suºanto nis²di. ak±makov±pi aha½ car±mi, etena saccena suvatthi hotu;
hata½ visa½ j²vatu yaññadatto”ti.
Tattha ath±para½ ya½ caritanti tasm± satt±h± uttari ya½ mama brahmacariya½. Ak±makov±p²ti pabbajja½ anicchantoyeva. Etena saccena suvatthi hot³ti sace atirekapaºº±savass±ni anabhirativ±sa½ vasantena may± kassaci an±rocitabh±vo sacca½, etena saccena yaññadattakum±rassa sotthibh±vo hotu, j²vita½ paµilabhat³ti.
Athassa saha saccakiriy±ya yaññadattassa thanappadesato uddha½ visa½ bhassitv± pathavi½ p±visi. Kum±ro akkh²ni umm²letv± m±t±pitaro oloketv± “ammat±t±”ti vatv± parivattitv± nipajji. Athassa pitara½ kaºhad²p±yano ±ha– “may± t±va mama bala½ kata½, tvampi attano bala½ karoh²”ti. So “ahampi saccakiriya½ kariss±m²”ti puttassa ure hattha½ µhapetv± dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
63. “Yasm± d±na½ n±bhinandi½ kad±ci, disv±naha½ atithi½ v±sak±le;
na c±pi me appiyata½ avedu½, bahussut± samaºabr±hmaº± ca;
ak±makov±pi aha½ dad±mi, etena saccena suvatthi hotu;
hata½ visa½ j²vatu yaññadatto”ti.
Tattha v±sak±leti vasanatth±ya geha½ ±gatak±le. Na c±pi me appiyata½ avedunti bahussut±pi samaºabr±hmaº± “aya½ neva d±na½ abhinandati na amhe”ti ima½ mama appiyabh±va½ neva j±ni½su. Ahañhi te piyacakkh³hiyeva olokem²ti d²peti. Etena saccen±ti sace aha½ d±na½ dadam±no vip±ka½ asaddahitv± attano anicch±ya dammi, anicchanabh±va½ mama pare na j±nanti, etena saccena suvatthi hot³ti attho.
Eva½ tassa saccakiriy±ya saha kaµito uddha½ visa½ bhassitv± pathavi½ p±visi. Kum±ro uµµh±ya nis²di, µh±tu½ pana na sakkoti. Athassa pit± m±tara½ ±ha “bhadde, may± attano bala½ kata½, tva½ id±ni saccakiriya½ katv± puttassa uµµh±ya gamanabh±va½ karoh²”ti. “S±mi, atthi mayha½ eka½ sacca½, tava pana santike kathetu½ na sakkom²”ti. “Bhadde, yath± tath± me putta½ aroga½ karoh²”ti. S± “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± sacca½ karont² tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
64. “¾s²viso t±ta pah³tatejo, yo ta½ a¹a½s² bilar± udicca;
tasmiñca me appiyat±ya ajja, pitarañca te natthi koci viseso;
etena saccena suvatthi hotu, hata½ visa½ j²vatu yaññadatto”ti.
Tattha t±t±ti putta½ ±lapati. Pah³tatejoti balavaviso. Bilar±ti vivar±, ayameva v± p±µho. Udicc±ti uµµhahitv±, vammikabilato uµµh±y±ti attho. Pitarañca teti pitari ca te. Aµµhakath±ya½ pana ayameva p±µho. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– “t±ta, yaññadatta tasmiñca ±s²vise tava pitari ca appiyabh±vena mayha½ koci viseso natthi. Tañca pana appiyabh±va½ µhapetv± ajja may± koci j±n±pitapubbo n±ma natthi, sace eta½ sacca½, etena saccena tava sotthi hot³”ti.
Saha ca saccakiriy±ya sabba½ visa½ bhassitv± pathavi½ p±visi. Yaññadatto nibbisena sar²rena uµµh±ya k²¼itu½ ±raddho. Eva½ putte uµµhite maº¹abyo d²p±yanassa ajjh±saya½ pucchanto catuttha½ g±tham±ha–
65. “Sant± dant±yeva paribbajanti, aññatra kaºh± natth±k±mar³p±;
d²p±yana kissa jiguccham±no, ak±mako carasi brahmacariyan”ti.
Tassattho– ye keci khattiy±dayo k±me pah±ya idha loke pabbajanti, te aññatra kaºh± bhavanta½ kaºha½ µhapetv± aññe ak±mar³p± n±ma natthi, sabbe jh±nabh±van±ya kiles±na½ samitatt± sant±, cakkh±d²ni dv±r±ni yath± nibbisevan±ni honti, tath± tesa½ damitatt± dant± hutv± abhirat±va brahmacariya½ caranti, tva½ pana bhante d²p±yana, ki½k±raº± tapa½ jiguccham±no ak±mako hutv± brahmacariya½ carasi, kasm± puna na ag±rameva ajjh±vasas²ti.

66. “Saddh±ya nikkhamma puna½ nivatto, so e¼am³gova b±lo vat±ya½;
etassa v±dassa jiguccham±no, ak±mako car±mi brahmacariya½;
viññuppasatthañca satañca µh±na½, evampaha½ puññakaro bhav±m²”ti.
Tassattho kaºho kammañca phalañca saddahitv± t±va mahanta½ vibhava½ pah±ya ag±r± nikkhamitv± ya½ jahi, puna tadatthameva nivatto. So aya½ e¼am³go g±mad±rako viya b±lo vat±ti ima½ v±da½ jiguccham±no aha½ attano hirottappabhedabhayena aniccham±nopi brahmacariya½ car±mi. Kiñca bhiyyo pabbajj±puññañca n±meta½ viññ³hi buddh±d²hi pasattha½, tesa½yeva ca sata½ niv±saµµh±na½. Eva½ imin±pi k±raºena aha½ puññakaro bhav±mi, assumukhopi rudam±no brahmacariya½ car±miyev±ti.
Eva½ so attano ajjh±saya½ kathetv± puna maº¹abya½ pucchanto chaµµha½ g±tham±ha–
67. “Samaºe tuva½ br±hmaºe addhike ca, santappay±si annap±nena bhikkha½;
op±nabh³ta½va ghara½ tava yida½, annena p±nena upetar³pa½;
atha kissa v±dassa jiguccham±no, ak±mako d±namima½ dad±s²”ti.
Tattha bhikkhanti bhikkh±ya carant±na½ bhikkhañca samp±detv± dad±si. Op±nabh³ta½v±ti catumah±pathe khatas±dh±raºapokkharaº² viya.
Tato maº¹abyo attano ajjh±saya½ kathento sattama½ g±tham±ha–
68. “Pitaro ca me ±su½ pit±mah± ca, saddh± ahu½ d±napat² vadaññ³;
ta½ kullavatta½ anuvattam±no, m±ha½ kule antimagandhano ahu½;
etassa v±dassa jiguccham±no, ak±mako d±namima½ dad±m²”ti.
Tattha “±sun”ti padassa “saddh±”ti imin± sambandho, saddh± ahesunti attho. Ahunti saddh± hutv± tato uttari d±najeµµhak± ceva “detha karoth±”ti vuttavacanassa atthaj±nanak± ca ahesu½. Ta½ kullavattanti ta½ kulavatta½, aµµhakath±ya½ pana ayameva p±µho. M±ha½ kule antimagandhano ahunti “aha½ attano kule sabbapacchimako ceva kulapal±po ca m± ahun”ti sallakkhetv± eta½ “kula-antimo kulapal±po”ti v±da½ jiguccham±no d±na½ anicchantopi ida½ d±na½ dad±m²ti d²peti.
Evañca pana vatv± maº¹abyo attano bhariya½ puccham±no aµµhama½ g±tham±ha–
69. “Dahari½ kum±ri½ asamatthapañña½, ya½ t±nayi½ ñ±tikul± sugatte;
na c±pi me appiyata½ avedi, aññatra k±m± paric±rayant±;
atha kena vaººena may± te bhoti, sa½v±sadhammo ahu evar³po”ti.
Tattha asamatthapaññanti kuµumba½ vic±retu½ appaµibalapañña½ atitaruºiññeva sam±na½. Ya½ t±nayinti ya½ ta½ ±nayi½, aha½ daharimeva sam±na½ ta½ ñ±tikulato ±nesinti vutta½ hoti. Aññatra k±m± paric±rayant±ti ettaka½ k±la½ vin± k±mena anicch±ya ma½ paric±rayant±pi attano appiyata½ ma½ na j±n±pesi, sampiy±yam±nar³p±va paricari. Kena vaººen±ti kena k±raºena. Bhot²ti ta½ ±lapati. Evar³poti ±s²visasam±napaµik³labh±vena may± saddhi½ tava sa½v±sadhammo evar³po piyasa½v±so viya katha½ j±toti.

70. “¾r± d³re nayidha kad±ci atthi, parampar± n±ma kule imasmi½;
ta½ kullavatta½ anuvattam±n±, m±ha½ kule antimagandhin² ahu½;
etassa v±dassa jiguccham±n±, ak±mik± paddhacar±mhi tuyhan”ti.
Tattha ±r± d³reti aññamaññavevacana½. Atid³reti v± dassent² evam±ha. Idh±ti nip±tamatta½, na kad±c²ti attho. Parampar±ti purisaparampar±. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– s±mi, imasmi½ amh±ka½ ñ±tikule d³rato paµµh±ya y±va sattam± kulaparivaµµ± purisaparampar± n±ma na kad±ci atthi, ekitthiy±pi s±mika½ cha¹¹etv± añño puriso gahitapubbo n±ma natth²ti. Ta½ kullavattanti ahampi ta½ kulavatta½ kulapaveºi½ anuvattam±n± attano kule pacchimik± pal±labh³t± m± ahunti sallakkhetv± eta½ kula-antim± kulagandhin²ti v±da½ jiguccham±n± ak±mik±pi tuyha½ paddhacar±mhi veyy±vaccak±rik± p±daparic±rik± j±t±mh²ti.
Evañca pana vatv± “may± s±mikassa santike abh±sitapubba½ guyha½ bh±sita½, kujjheyyapi me aya½, amh±ka½ kul³pakat±pasassa sammukheyeva kham±pess±m²”ti cintetv± kham±pent² dasama½ g±tham±ha–
71. “Maº¹abya bh±si½ yamabh±saneyya½, ta½ khamyata½ puttakahetu majja;
puttapem± na idha paratthi kiñci, so no aya½ j²vati yaññadatto”ti.
Tattha ta½ khamyatanti ta½ khamayatu. Puttakahetu majj±ti ta½ mama bh±sita½ ajja imassa puttassa hetu khamayatu. So no ayanti yassa puttassa k±raº± may± eta½ bh±sita½, so no putto j²vati, imassa j²vital±bhabh±vena me khama s±mi, ajjato paµµh±ya tava vasavattin² bhaviss±m²ti.
Atha na½ maº¹abyo “uµµhehi bhadde, kham±mi te, ito pana paµµh±ya m± pharusacitt± ahosi, ahampi te appiya½ na kariss±m²”ti ±ha. Bodhisatto maº¹abya½ ±ha– “±vuso, tay± dussaªghara½ dhana½ saªgharitv± kammañca phalañca asaddahitv± d±na½ dadantena ayutta½ kata½, ito paµµh±ya d±na½ saddahitv± deh²”ti. So “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± bodhisatta½ ±ha– “bhante, tay± amh±ka½ dakkhiºeyyabh±ve µhatv± anabhiratena brahmacariya½ carantena ayutta½ kata½, ito paµµh±ya id±ni yath± tayi katak±r± mahapphal± honti, eva½ citta½ pas±detv± suddhacitto abhirato hutv± brahmacariya½ car±h²”ti. Te mah±satta½ vanditv± uµµh±ya agama½su. Tato paµµh±ya bhariy± s±mike sasneh± ahosi, maº¹abyo pasannacitto saddh±ya d±na½ ad±si. Bodhisatto anabhirati½ vinodetv± jh±n±bhiñña½ upp±detv± brahmalokapar±yaºo ahosi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± sacc±ni pak±setv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi, saccapariyos±ne ukkaºµhito bhikkhu sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi Tad± maº¹abyo ±nando ahosi, bhariy± vis±kh±, putto r±hulo, ±ºimaº¹abyo s±riputto, kaºhad²p±yano pana ahameva ahosinti.
