So “p±pakamma½ me matthaka½ pattan”ti tath±gatassa guºe anussaritv±–
“Imehi aµµh²hi tamaggapuggala½, dev±tideva½ naradammas±rathi½;

Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na bhikkhave, id±neva devadatto l±bhasakk±ragiddho hutv± an±gatabhaya½ na olokesi, pubbepi an±gatabhaya½ anoloketv± paccuppannasukhagiddhena saddhi½ paris±ya mah±vin±sa½ patto”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.

Tattha te jan±ti te jambud²pav±sino jan±. Kammaphal³paj²vinoti n±n±kamm±na½ phal³paj²vino satt±.
Atha te d²paka½ pariggaºhant± puris± tassa g²tasadda½ sutv± “manussasaddo viya suyyati, j±niss±ma nan”ti sadd±nus±rena gantv± ta½ purisa½ disv± “yakkho bhavissat²”ti bh²tatasit± sare sannahi½su. Idha pana vasant±na½ amh±ka½ añño paripantho natthi, añña½ bhaya½ ettha natthi, aya½ pana amanussapariggahito, amanuss± tumh±ka½ ucc±rapass±va½ disv± kujjheyyu½, tasm± ta½ karont± v±luka½ viy³hitv± v±luk±ya paµicch±deyy±tha, ettaka½ idha bhaya½, añña½ natthi, nicca½ appamatt± bhaveyy±th±ti. Te tattha v±sa½ upagacchi½su. Tasmi½ pana kulasahasse pañcanna½ pañcanna½ kulasat±na½ jeµµhak± dve va¹¹hak² ahesu½. Tesu eko b±lo ahosi rasagiddho, eko paº¹ito rasesu anall²no.
Aparabh±ge sabbepi te tattha sukha½ vasant± th³lasar²r± hutv± cintayi½su “cira½ p²t± no sur±, ucchurasena meraya½ katv± piviss±m±”ti. Te meraya½ k±retv± pivitv± madavasena g±yant± naccant± k²¼ant± pamatt± tattha tattha ucc±rapass±va½ katv± appaµicch±detv± d²paka½ jeguccha½ paµik³la½ kari½su. Tattha uplavissanti ima½ d²paka½ uplavanto ajjhottharanto abhibhavissati. M± vo vadh²ti so s±garavego tumhe m± vadhi.
Iti so tesa½ ov±da½ datv± attano µh±nameva gato. Seµµhanti uttama½ tatha½ sacca½. Kaniµµhanti paµhamavacana½ up±d±ya pacchimavacana½ kaniµµha½ n±ma. Idh±pi “na ve sugaºhan”ti anuvattateva. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– ambho va¹¹hak², yena kenaci paµhamena vuttavacana½ “idameva seµµha½ tatha½ saccan”ti sukha½ na gaºhitabbameva, yath± ca ta½, eva½ kaniµµha½ gacch± vuttavacanampi “idameva tatha½ saccan”ti na gaºhitabba½. Ya½ pana sotavisaya½ ±p±thagata½ hoti, ta½ ±p±thagata½ gahetv± yo idha paº¹itapuriso purimavacanañca pacchimavacanañca paviceyya vicinitv± t²retv± upaparikkhitv± taccha½ gaºh±ti, ya½ tatha½ sacca½ sabh±vabh³ta½, tadeva paccakkha½ katv± gaºh±ti. Sa ve naro seµµhamupeti µh±nanti so uttama½ µh±na½ upeti adhigacchati vindati labhat²ti.
So evañca pana vatv± ±ha– “ambho, maya½ dvinnampi devat±na½ vacana½ kariss±ma, n±va½ t±va sajjeyy±ma. Sace paµhamassa vacana½ sacca½ bhavissati, ta½ n±va½ abhiruhitv± pal±yiss±ma, atha itarassa vacana½ sacca½ bhavissati, n±va½ ekamante µhapetv± idheva vasiss±m±”ti. Eva½ vutte b±lava¹¹hak² “ambho, tva½ udakap±tiya½ susum±ra½ passasi, at²va d²gha½ passasi, paµhamadevaputto amhesu dosavasena kathesi, pacchimo sineheneva, ima½ evar³pa½ varad²pa½ pah±ya kuhi½ gamiss±ma, sace pana tva½ gantuk±mo, tava parisa½ gaºhitv± n±va½ karohi, amh±ka½ n±v±ya kicca½ natth²”ti ±ha. Paº¹ito attano parisa½ gahetv± n±va½ sajjetv± n±v±ya sabb³pakaraº±ni ±ropetv± sapariso n±v±ya aµµh±si.
Tato puººamadivase candassa uggamanavel±ya samuddato ³mi uttaritv± j±ºukapam±º± hutv± d²paka½ dhovitv± gat±. Paº¹ito samuddassa uttaraºabh±va½ ñatv± n±va½ vissajjesi. B±lava¹¹hakipakkhik±ni pañca kulasat±ni “samuddato ³mi d²padhovanatth±ya ±gat±, ettakameva etan”ti kathent± nis²di½su. Tato paµip±µiy± kaµippam±º± purisappam±º± t±lappam±º± sattat±lappam±º± s±gara-³mi d²pakampi vuyham±n± ±gañchi. Paº¹ito up±yakusalat±ya rase alaggo sotthin± gato, b±lava¹¹hak² rasagiddhena an±gatabhaya½ anolokento pañcahi kulasatehi saddhi½ vin±sa½ patto.

ta½ t±disa½ paµikatakiccak±ri½, na ta½ kicca½ kiccak±le byadhet²”ti.
Tattha sakammun±ti an±gatabhaya½ disv± puretara½ katena attano kammena. Sotthi vahi½s³ti khemena gami½su. V±ºij±ti samudde vicaraºabh±vena va¹¹hak² vutt±. Paµivijjhiy±n±ti eva½, bhikkhave paµhamatara½ kattabba½ an±gata½ attha½ paµivijjhitv± idhaloke bh³ripañño kulaputto appamattakampi attano attha½ na acceti n±tivattati, na h±pet²ti attho. Appaµivijjhiyatthanti appaµivijjhitv± attha½, paµhamameva kattabba½ akatv±ti attho. Paccuppanneti yad± ta½ an±gata½ atthaj±ta½ uppajjati, tad± tasmi½ paccuppanne s²danti, atthe j±te attano patiµµha½ na labhanti, samudde te b±lava¹¹hak² manuss± viya vin±sa½ p±puºanti.
An±gatanti bhikkhave, paº¹itapuriso an±gata½ paµhamatara½ kattabbakicca½ sampar±yika½ v± diµµhadhammika½ v± paµikayir±tha, puretarameva kareyya. Ki½k±raº±? M± ma½ kicca½ kiccak±le byadhesi, pure kattabbañhi pure akayiram±na½ pacch± paccuppannabh±vappatta½ attano kiccak±le k±yacitt±b±dhena byadheti, ta½ ma½ m± byadhes²ti paµhamameva na½ paº¹ito kareyya. Ta½ t±disanti yath± paº¹ita½ purisa½. Paµikatakiccak±rinti paµikacceva kattabbakiccak±rina½. Ta½ kicca½ kiccak±leti an±gata½ kicca½ kayiram±na½ pacch± paccuppannabh±vappatta½ attano kiccak±le k±yacitt±b±dhak±le t±disa½ purima½ na byadheti na b±dhati. Kasm±? Pureyeva katatt±ti.
