Tad± hi bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½ “±vuso, dhammabhaº¹±g±rika-±nandatthero sekkhapaµisambhid±ppatto hutv± dhanap±lake ±gacchante samm±sambuddhassa j²vita½ pariccaj²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi ±nando mayha½ j²vita½ pariccajiyev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te r±jagahassa pubbapasse s±lindiyo n±ma br±hmaºag±mo hoti. Tad± bodhisatto tasmi½ g±me kassakabr±hmaºakule nibbattitv± vayappatto kuµumba½ saºµhapetv± tassa g±massa pubbuttar±ya dis±ya ekasmi½ g±makhette kar²sasahassamatta½ kasi½ k±resi. So ekadivasa½ manussehi saddhi½ khetta½ gantv± kammak±re “kasath±”ti ±º±petv± mukhadhovanatth±ya khettakoµiya½ mahanta½ sobbha½ upasaªkami. Tasmi½ kho pana sobbhe eko suvaººavaººo kakkaµako paµivasati abhir³po p±s±diko. Bodhisatto dantakaµµha½ kh±ditv± ta½ sobbha½ otari. Tassa mukhadhovanak±le kakkaµako santika½ ±gam±si. Atha na½ so ukkhipitv± attano uttaris±µakantare nipajj±petv± gahetv± khette kattabbakicca½ katv± gacchanto tattheva na½ sobbhe pakkhipitv± geha½ agam±si. Tato paµµh±ya khetta½ ±gacchanto paµhama½ ta½ sobbha½ gantv± kakkaµaka½ ukkhipitv± uttaris±µakantare nipajj±petv± pacch± kammanta½ vic±resi. Iti tesa½ aññamañña½ viss±so da¼ho ahosi.
Bodhisatto nibaddha½ khetta½ ±gacchati, akkh²su ca panassa pañca pas±d± t²ºi maº¹al±ni visuddh±ni hutv± paññ±yanti. Athassa khettakoµiya½ ekasmi½ t±le k±kakul±vake k±k² akkh²ni disv± kh±dituk±m± hutv± k±ka½ ±ha– “s±mi, doha¼o me uppanno”ti. “Ki½ doha¼o n±m±”ti? “Etassa br±hmaºassa akkh²ni kh±dituk±m±mh²”ti. “Duddoha¼o te uppanno, ko et±ni ±haritu½ sakkhissat²”ti. “Tva½ na sakkos²”ti ahampeta½ j±n±mi, yo panesa t±lassa avid³re vammiko, ettha kaºhasappo vasati. “Ta½ upaµµhaha, so eta½ ¹a½sitv± m±ressati, athassa akkh²ni upp±µetv± tva½ ±harissas²”ti So “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± tato paµµh±ya kaºhasappa½ upaµµhahi. Bodhisattenapi v±pitasass±na½ gabbhaggahaºak±le kakkaµako mah± ahosi. Athekadivasa½ sappo k±kam±ha “samma, tva½ nibaddha½ ma½ upaµµhahasi, ki½ te karom²”ti. “S±mi, tumh±ka½ d±siy± etassa khettas±mikassa akkh²su doha¼o uppajji, sv±ha½ tumh±ka½ ±nubh±vena tassa akkh²ni labhiss±m²ti tumhe upaµµhah±m²”ti. Sappo “hotu, nayida½ garuka½, labhissas²”ti ta½ ass±setv± puna divase br±hmaºassa ±gamanamagge ked±ramariy±da½ niss±ya tiºehi paµicchanno hutv± tass±gamana½ olokento nipajji.
Bodhisatto ±gacchanto paµhama½ sobbha½ otaritv± mukha½ dhovitv± sineha½ paccupaµµh±petv± suvaººakakkaµaka½ ±liªgetv± uttaris±µakantare nipajj±petv± khetta½ p±visi. Sappo ta½ ±gacchanta½ disv±va vegena pakkhanditv± piº¹ikama½se ¹a½sitv± tattheva p±tetv± vammika½ sandh±ya pal±yi. Bodhisattassa patanañca kakkaµakassa s±µakantarato laªghanañca k±kassa ±gantv± bodhisattassa ure nil²yanañca apacch±-apurima½ ahosi. K±ko nil²yitv± akkh²ni tuº¹ena pahari. Kakkaµako “ima½ k±ka½ niss±ya mama sah±yassa bhaya½ uppanna½, etasmi½ gahite sappo ±gacchissat²”ti saº¹±sena gaºhanto viya k±ka½ g²v±ya½ a¼ena da¼ha½ gahetv± kilametv± thoka½ sithilamak±si. K±ko “kissa ma½ samma, cha¹¹etv± pal±yasi, esa ma½ kakkaµako bhiyyo viheµheti, y±va na mar±mi, t±va eh²”ti sappa½ pakkosanto paµhama½ g±tham±ha–

Tattha siªg²migoti siªg²suvaººavaººat±ya v± a¼asaªkh±t±na½ v± siªg±na½ atthit±ya kakkaµako vutto. ¾yatacakkhunettoti d²ghehi cakkhusaªkh±tehi nettehi samann±gato. Aµµhimeva taco ass±ti aµµhittaco. Hare sakh±ti ±lapanameta½, ambho sah±y±ti attho.
Sappo ta½ sutv± mahanta½ phaºa½ katv± k±ka½ ass±sento agam±si. Satth± imamattha½ d²pento abhisambuddho hutv± dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
95. “So passasanto mahat± phaºena, bhujaªgamo kakkaµamajjhapatto;
sakh± sakh±ra½ parit±yam±no, bhujaªgama½ kakkaµako gahes²”ti.
Tattha kakkaµamajjhapattoti kakkaµaka½ sampatto. Sakh± sakh±ranti sah±yo sah±ya½. “Saka½ sakh±ran”tipi p±µho, attano sah±yanti attho. Parit±yam±noti rakkham±no. Gahes²ti dutiyena a¼ena g²v±ya½ da¼ha½ gahesi.
Atha na½ kilametv± thoka½ sithilamak±si. Atha sappo “kakkaµak± n±ma neva k±kama½sa½ kh±danti, na sappama½sa½, atha kena nu kho k±raºena aya½ amhe gaºh²”ti cintetv± ta½ pucchanto tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
96. “Na v±yasa½ no pana kaºhasappa½, gh±satthiko kakkaµako adeyya;
pucch±mi ta½ ±yatacakkhunetta, atha kissa hetumha ubho gah²t±”ti.

97. “Aya½ puriso mama atthak±mo, yo ma½ gahetv±na dak±ya neti;
tasmi½ mate dukkhamanappaka½ me, ahañca eso ca ubho na homa.
98. “Mamañca disv±na pavaddhak±ya½, sabbo jano hi½situmeva micche;
s±duñca th³lañca muduñca ma½sa½, k±k±pi ma½ disva viheµhayeyyun”ti.
Tattha ayanti bodhisatta½ niddisati. Atthak±moti hitak±mo. Dak±ya net²ti yo ma½ sampiy±yam±no uttaris±µakena gahetv±na udak±ya neti, attano vasanakasobbha½ p±peti. Tasmi½ mateti sace so imasmi½ µh±ne marissati, etasmi½ mate mama k±yika½ cetasika½ mahanta½ dukkha½ bhavissat²ti d²peti. Ubho na hom±ti dvepi jan± na bhaviss±ma. Mamañca disv±n±ti g±th±ya ayamattho– idañca apara½ k±raºa½, imasmi½ mate an±tha½ nippaccaya½ ma½ pava¹¹hitak±ya½ disv± sabbo jano “imassa kakkaµakassa s±duñca th³lañca muduñca ma½san”ti ma½ m±retu½ iccheyya, na kevalañca jano manusso, tiracch±nabh³t± k±k±pi ma½ disv± viheµhayeyyu½ viheseyyu½ m±reyyu½.

99. “Sacetassa hetumha ubho gah²t±, uµµh±tu pose visam±vam±mi;
mamañca k±kañca pamuñca khippa½, pure visa½ g±¼hamupeti maccan”ti.
Tattha sacetassa het³ti sace etassa k±raº±. Uµµh±t³ti nibbiso hotu. Visam±vam±m²ti ahamassa visa½ ±ka¹¹h±mi, nibbisa½ na½ karomi. Pure visa½ g±¼hamupeti maccanti imañhi macca½ may± an±vamiyam±na½ visa½ g±¼ha½ balava½ hutv± upagaccheyya, ta½ y±va na upagacchati, t±vadeva amhe dvepi jane khippa½ muñc±ti.
Ta½ sutv± kakkaµako cintesi “aya½ ekenup±yena ma½ dvepi jane vissajj±petv± pal±yituk±mo, mayha½ up±yakosalla½ na j±n±ti, aha½ d±ni yath± sappo sañcaritu½ sakkoti, eva½ a¼a½ sithila½ kariss±mi, k±ka½ pana neva vissajjess±m²”ti eva½ cintetv± sattama½ g±tham±ha–
100. “Sappa½ pamokkh±mi na t±va k±ka½, paµibandhako hohiti t±va k±ko;
purisañca disv±na sukhi½ aroga½, k±ka½ pamokkh±mi yatheva sappan”ti.
Tattha paµibandhakoti p±µibhogo. Yatheva sappanti yath± bhavanta½ sappa½ muñc±mi, tath± k±ka½ pamokkh±mi, kevala½ tva½ imassa br±hmaºassa sar²rato s²gha½ visa½ ±vam±h²ti.
Evañca pana vatv± tassa sukhasañc±raºattha½ a¼a½ sithilamak±si. Sappo visa½ ±vamitv± mah±sattassa sar²ra½ nibbisa½ ak±si. So niddukkho uµµh±ya pakativaººeneva aµµh±si. Kakkaµako “sace ime dvepi jan± arog± bhavissanti, mayha½ sah±yassa va¹¹hi n±ma na bhavissati, vin±sess±mi ne”ti cintetv± kattarik±ya uppalamaku¼a½ viya a¼ehi ubhinnampi s²sa½ kappetv± j²vitakkhaya½ p±pesi. K±k²pi tamh± µh±n± pal±yi. Bodhisatto sappassa sar²ra½ daº¹ake veµhetv± gumbapiµµhe khipi. Suvaººakakkaµaka½ sobbhe vissajjetv± nhatv± s±lindiyag±mameva gato. Tato paµµh±ya kakkaµakena saddhi½ adhikataro viss±so ahosi.
