Idha pana satth± ta½ bhikkhu½ “sacca½ kira tva½ ukkaºµhitos²”ti pucchitv± “sacca½, bhante”ti vutte “kena ukkaºµh±pitos²”ti vatv± “pur±ºadutiyik±ya, bhante”ti vutte “bhikkhu es± itth² tuyha½ anatthak±rik±, pubbepi tva½ eta½ niss±ya caturaªginisena½ jahitv± himavantapadese mahanta½ dukkha½ anubhavanto t²ºi sa½vacchar±ni vas²”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto k±sig±me br±hmaºakule nibbattitv± vayappatto takkasil±ya½ uggahitasippo isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± vanam³laphal±h±ro abhiññ± ca sam±pattiyo ca nibbattetv± himavantapadese vasi. Tasmi½ k±le eko puññasampanno satto t±vati½sabhavanato cavitv± tasmi½ µh±ne padumasare ekasmi½ padumagabbhe d±rik± hutv± nibbatti, sesapadumesu pur±ºabh±va½ patv± patantesupi ta½ mah±kucchika½ hutv± tiµµhateva. T±paso nah±yitu½ padumasara½ gato ta½ disv± “aññesu padumesu patantesupi ida½ mah±kucchika½ hutv± tiµµhati, ki½ nu kho k±raºan”ti cintetv± udakas±µaka½ niv±setv± otaranto gantv± ta½ paduma½ vivaritv± ta½ d±rika½ disv± dh²tusañña½ upp±detv± paººas±la½ ±netv± paµijaggi. S± aparabh±ge so¼asavassik± hutv± abhir³p± ahosi uttamar³padhar± atikkant± m±nusakavaººa½, apatt± devavaººa½. Tad± sakko bodhisattassa upaµµh±na½ ±gacchati, so ta½ d±rika½ disv± “kuto es±”ti pucchitv± laddhaniy±ma½ sutv± “imiss± ki½ laddhu½ vaµµat²”ti pucchi. “Niv±saµµh±na½ vatth±laªk±rabhojanavidh±na½, m±ris±”ti. So “s±dhu, bhante”ti tass± vasanaµµh±nassa ±sanne phalikap±s±da½ m±petv± dibbasayanadibbavatth±laªk±radibbannap±n±ni m±pesi.
So p±s±do tass± abhiruhanak±le otaritv± bh³miya½ patiµµh±ti, abhiru¼hak±le laªghitv± ±k±se tiµµhati. S± bodhisattassa vattapaµivatta½ kurum±n± p±s±de vasati. Tameko vanacarako disv± “aya½, vo bhante, ki½ hot²”ti pucchitv± “dh²t± me”ti sutv± b±r±ºasi½ gantv± “deva, may± himavantapadese evar³p± n±ma ekassa t±pasassa dh²t± diµµh±”ti rañño ±rocesi. Ta½ sutv± so savanasa½saggena bajjhitv± vanacaraka½ maggadesaka½ katv± caturaªginiy± sen±ya ta½ µh±na½ gantv± khandh±v±ra½ niv±s±petv± vanacaraka½ ±d±ya amaccagaºaparivuto assamapada½ pavisitv± mah±satta½ vanditv± ekamanta½ nisinno “bhante, itthiyo n±ma brahmacariyassa mala½, tumh±ka½ dh²tara½ aha½ paµijaggiss±m²”ti ±ha. Bodhisatto pana “ki½ nu kho etasmi½ padume”ti ±saªka½ katv± udaka½ otaritv± ±n²tabh±vena tass± kum±rik±ya ±saªk±ti n±ma½ ak±si. So ta½ r±j±na½ “ima½ gahetv± gacch±”ti ujuka½ avatv± “mah±r±ja, im±ya kum±rik±ya n±ma½ j±nanto gaºhitv± gacch±”ti ±ha. “Tumhehi kathite ñass±mi, bhante”ti. “Aha½ te na kathemi, tva½ attano paññ±balena n±ma½ j±nantova gahetv± y±h²”ti. So “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± tato paµµh±ya amaccehi saddhi½ “kinn±m± nu kho es±”ti n±ma½ upadh±reti. So y±ni dujj±n±ni n±m±ni, t±ni kittetv± “asuk± n±ma bhavissat²”ti bodhisattena saddhi½ katheti. Bodhisatto “na eva½n±m±”ti paµikkhipati.
Rañño ca n±ma½ upadh±rentassa sa½vaccharo at²to. Tad± hatthi-assamanusse s²h±dayo v±¼± gaºhanti, d²ghaj±tikaparipantho hoti, makkhikaparipantho hoti, s²tena kilamitv± bah³ manuss± maranti. Atha r±j± kujjhitv± “ki½ me et±y±”ti bodhisattassa kathetv± p±y±si. ¾saªk± kum±rik± ta½ divasa½ phalikav±tap±na½ vivaritv± att±na½ dassent² aµµh±si. R±j± ta½ disv± “maya½ tava n±ma½ j±nitu½ na sakkoma, tva½ himavanteyeva vasa, maya½ gamiss±m±”ti ±ha. “Kaha½, mah±r±ja, gacchanto m±disa½ itthi½ labhissasi, mama vacana½ suº±hi, t±vati½sadevaloke cittalat±vane ±s±vat² n±ma lat± atthi, tass± phalassa abbhantare dibbap±na½ nibbatta½, ta½ ekav±ra½ pivitv± catt±ro m±se matt± hutv± dibbasayane sayanti, s± pana vassasahassena phalati, sur±soº¹± devaputt± ‘ito phala½ labhiss±m±’ti dibbap±napip±sa½ adhiv±setv± vassasahassa½ nibaddha½ gantv± ta½ lata½ ‘arog± nu kho’ti olokenti, tva½ pana ekasa½vacchareneva ukkaºµhito, ±s±phalavat² n±ma sukh±, m± ukkaºµh²”ti vatv± tisso g±th± abh±si–

Tattha ±s±vat²ti eva½n±mik±. S± hi yasm± tass± phale ±s± uppajjati, tasm± eta½ n±ma½ labhati. Cittalat±vaneti eva½n±make uyy±ne. Tasmi½ kira uyy±ne tiºarukkhalat±d²na½ pabh± tattha paviµµhapaviµµh±na½ devat±na½ sar²ravaººa½ citta½ karoti, tenassa “cittalat±vanan”ti n±ma½ j±ta½. Payirup±sant²ti punappuna½ upenti. ¾s²sev±ti ±s²s±hiyeva patthehiyeva, m± ±saccheda½ karoh²ti.
R±j± tass± kath±ya bajjhitv± puna amacce sannip±t±petv± dasan±maka½ k±retv± n±ma½ gavesanto aparampi sa½vacchara½ vasi. Tass± dasan±makampi n±ma½ n±hosi, “asuk± n±m±”ti vutte bodhisatto paµikkhipateva. Puna r±j± “ki½ me im±y±”ti turaªga½ ±ruyha p±y±si. S±pi puna v±tap±ne µhatv± att±na½ dassesi. R±j± “tiµµha tva½, maya½ gamiss±m±”ti ±ha. “Kasm± y±si, mah±r±j±”ti? “Tava n±ma½ j±nitu½ na sakkom²”ti. “Mah±r±ja, kasm± n±ma½ na j±nissasi, ±s± n±ma asamijjhanak± n±ma natthi, eko kira bako pabbatamuddhani µhito attan± patthita½ labhi, tva½ kasm± na labhissasi, adhiv±sehi, mah±r±j±”ti. Eko kira bako ekasmi½ padumasare gocara½ gahetv± uppatitv± pabbatamatthake nil²yi. So ta½ divasa½ tattheva vasitv± punadivase cintesi “aha½ imasmi½ pabbatamatthake sukha½ nisinno, sace ito anotaritv± ettheva nisinno gocara½ gahetv± p±n²ya½ pivitv± ima½ divasa½ vaseyya½, bhadraka½ vata ass±”ti. Atha ta½ divasameva sakko devar±j± asuranimmathana½ katv± t±vati½sabhavane devissariya½ laddh± cintesi ‘mama t±va manoratho matthaka½ patto, atthi nu kho añño koci aparipuººamanoratho’ti upadh±rento ta½ disv± ‘imassa manoratha½ matthaka½ p±pess±m²’ti bakassa nisinnaµµh±nato avid³re ek± nad² atthi, ta½ nadi½ oghapuººa½ katv± pabbatamatthakena pesesi. Sopi bako tattheva nisinno macche kh±ditv± p±n²ya½ pivitv± ta½ divasa½ tattheva vasi, udakampi bhassitv± gata½. “Eva½, mah±r±ja, bakopi t±va attano ±s±phala½ labhi, ki½ tva½ na labhissas²”ti vatv± “±s²satev±”ti-±dim±ha.
Tattha ±s²satev±ti ±s²satiyeva patthetiyeva. Pakkh²ti pakkhehi yuttat±ya pakkh². Dvikkhattu½ j±tat±ya dijo. T±va d³ragat± sat²ti pabbatamatthakato macch±nañca udakassa ca d³rabh±va½ passa, eva½ d³ragat± sam±n± sakkassa ±nubh±vena bakassa ±s± p³riyev±ti.
Atha r±j± tass± katha½ sutv± r³pe bajjhitv± kath±ya all²no gantu½ asakkonto amacce sannip±tetv± satan±ma½ k±resi, satan±mavasena n±ma½ gavesatopissa añña½ sa½vacchara½ at²ta½ So tiººa½ sa½vacchar±na½ accayena bodhisatta½ upasaªkamitv± satan±mavasena “asuk± n±ma bhavissat²”ti pucchi. “Na j±n±si, mah±r±j±”ti. So “gamiss±ma d±ni mayan”ti bodhisatta½ vanditv± p±y±si. ¾saªk± kum±rik± ca puna phalikav±tap±na½ niss±ya µhit±va. R±j± ta½ disv± “tva½ accha, maya½ gamiss±m±”ti ±ha. “Kasm±, mah±r±j±”ti. “Tva½ ma½ vacaneneva santappesi, na ca k±maratiy±, tava madhuravacanena bajjhitv± vasantassa mama t²ºi sa½vacchar±ni atikkant±ni, id±ni gamiss±m²”ti im± g±th± ±ha–
29. “Sampesi kho ma½ v±c±ya, na ca sampesi kammun±;
m±l± sereyyakasseva, vaººavant± agandhik±.
30. “Aphala½ madhura½ v±ca½, yo mittesu pakubbati;
adada½ avissaja½ bhoga½, sandhi tenassa j²rati.
31. “Yañhi kayir± tañhi vade, ya½ na kayir± na ta½ vade;
akaronta½ bh±sam±na½, parij±nanti paº¹it±.
32. “Balañca vata me kh²ºa½, p±theyyañca na vijjati;
saªke p±º³parodh±ya, handa d±ni vaj±mahan”ti.
Tattha sampes²ti santappesi p²ºesi. Sereyyakass±ti suvaººakuraº¹akassa. Desan±s²sameveta½, ya½kiñci pana suvaººakuraº¹akajayasuman±dika½ aññampi puppha½ vaººasampanna½ agandhaka½, sabba½ ta½ sandh±yevam±ha. Vaººavant± agandhik±ti yath± sereyyak±d²na½ m±l± vaººavantat±ya dassanena tappeti, agandhat±ya gandhena na tappeti, eva½ tvampi dassanena piyavacanena ca santappesi, na kammun±ti d²peti. Adadanti bhadde, yo “ima½ n±ma vo bhoga½ dass±m²”ti madhuravacanena vatv± ta½ bhoga½ adadanto avissajjento kevala½ madhuravacanameva karoti, tena saddhi½ assa mittassa sandhi j²rati, mittasanthavo na ghaµ²yati. P±theyyañc±ti bhadde, mayha½ tava madhuravacanena bajjhitv± t²ºi sa½vacchar±ni vasantasseva hatthi-assarathapattisaªkh±ta½ balañca kh²ºa½, manuss±na½ bhattavetanasaªkh±ta½ p±theyyañca natthi. Saªke p±º³parodh±y±ti sv±ha½ idheva attano j²vitavin±sa½ ±saªk±mi, handa d±n±ha½ gacch±m²ti.
¾saªk± kum±rik± rañño vacana½ sutv± “mah±r±ja, tva½ mayha½ n±ma½ j±n±si, tay± vuttameva mama n±ma½, ida½ me pitu kathetv± ma½ gaºhitv± y±h²”ti raññ± saddhi½ sallapant² ±ha–
33. “Etadeva hi me n±ma½, ya½n±masmi rathesabha;
±gamehi mah±r±ja, pitara½ ±mantay±mahan”ti.
Tassattho– ya½n±m± aha½ asmi, ta½ eta½ ±saªk±tveva mama n±manti.
Ta½ sutv± r±j± bodhisattassa santika½ gantv± “bhante, tumh±ka½ dh²t± ±saªk± n±m±”ti ±ha. “N±ma½ ñ±tak±lato paµµh±ya ta½ gahetv± gaccha, mah±r±j±”ti. So mah±satta½ vanditv± phalikavim±nadv±ra½ ±gantv± ±ha– “bhadde, pitar±pi te mayha½ dinn±, ehi d±ni gamiss±m±”ti. “¾gamehi, mah±r±ja, pitara½ ±mantay±mahan”ti p±s±d± otaritv± mah±satta½ vanditv± roditv± kham±petv± rañño santika½ ±gat±. R±j± ta½ gahetv± b±r±ºasi½ gantv± puttadh²t±hi va¹¹hanto piyasa½v±sa½ vasi. Bodhisatto aparih²najjh±no brahmaloke uppajji.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± sacc±ni pak±setv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi, saccapariyos±ne ukkaºµhitabhikkhu sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi. Tad± ±saªk± kum±rik± pur±ºadutiyik± ahosi, r±j± ukkaºµhitabhikkhu, t±paso pana ahameva ahosinti.
