So kira b±lo ahosi aññ±ºo, neva so buddh±d²na½ ratan±na½, na aññesa½ puggal±na½ guºa½ j±n±ti, caº¹o pharuso s±hasiko. Atheko j±napado bhikkhu “buddhupaµµh±na½ kariss±m²”ti ±gacchanto s±ya½ aciravat²tittha½ patv± ta½ evam±ha “up±saka, parat²ra½ gamiss±mi, n±va½ me deh²”ti. “Bhante, id±ni ak±lo, ekasmi½ µh±ne vasass³”ti. “Up±saka, idha kuhi½ vasiss±mi, ma½ gaºhitv± gacch±”ti. So kujjhitv± “ehi re samaºa, vah±m²”ti thera½ n±va½ ±ropetv± ujuka½ agantv± heµµh± n±va½ netv± ullo¼a½ katv± tassa pattac²vara½ temetv± kilametv± t²ra½ patv± andhak±ravel±ya½ uyyojesi. Atha so vih±ra½ gantv± ta½ divasa½ buddhupaµµh±nassa ok±sa½ alabhitv± punadivase satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± vanditv± ekamanta½ nis²ditv± satth±r± katapaµisanth±ro “kad± ±gatos²”ti vutte “hiyyo, bhante”ti vatv± “atha kasm± ajja buddhupaµµh±na½ ±gatos²”ti vutte tamattha½ ±rocesi. Ta½ sutv± satth± “na kho bhikkhu id±neva, pubbepesa caº¹o pharuso s±hasiko, id±ni pana tena tva½ kilamito, pubbepesa paº¹ite kilames²”ti vatv± tena y±cito at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto br±hmaºakule nibbattitv± vayappatto takkasil±ya½ sabbasipp±ni uggaºhitv± isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± d²ghamaddh±na½ himavante phal±phalena y±petv± loºambilasevanatth±ya b±r±ºasi½ patv± r±juyy±ne vasitv± punadivase nagara½ bhikkh±ya p±visi. Atha na½ r±jaªgaºappatta½ r±j± disv± tassa iriy±pathe pas²ditv± antepura½ ±netv± bhojetv± paµiñña½ gahetv± r±juyy±ne vas±pesi, devasika½ upaµµh±na½ agam±si. Tamena½ bodhisatto “raññ± n±ma, mah±r±ja, catt±ri agatigaman±ni vajjetv± appamattena khantimett±nuddayasampannena hutv± dhammena rajja½ k±retabban”ti vatv± devasika½ ovadanto–
1. “M±su kujjha bh³mipati, m±su kujjha rathesabha;
kuddha½ appaµikujjhanto, r±j± raµµhassa p³jito.
2. “G±me v± yadi v±raññe, ninne v± yadi v± thale;
sabbattha anus±s±mi, m±su kujjha rathesabh±”ti.– Dve g±th± abh±si.
Tattha raµµhassa p³jitoti evar³po r±j± raµµhassa p³jan²yo hot²ti attho. Sabbattha anus±s±m²ti etesu g±m±d²su yattha katthaci vasantop±ha½ mah±r±ja, im±ya eva anusiµµhiy± tamanus±s±mi, etesu v± g±m±d²su yattha katthaci ekasmimpi ekasattepi anus±s±mi. M±su kujjha rathesabh±ti evamev±ha½ ta½ anus±s±mi, raññ± n±ma kujjhatu½ na vaµµati. Ki½k±raº±? R±j±no n±ma v±c±vudh±, tesa½ kuddh±na½ vacanamatteneva bah³ j²vitakkhaya½ p±puºant²ti.
Eva½ bodhisatto rañño ±gat±gatadivase im± dve g±th± abh±si. R±j± anusiµµhiy± pasannacitto mah±sattassa satasahassuµµh±naka½ eka½ g±mavara½ ad±si, bodhisatto paµikkhipi. Iti so tattheva dv±dasasa½vacchara½ vasitv± “aticira½ nivutthomhi, janapadac±rika½ t±va caritv± ±gamiss±m²”ti rañño akathetv±va uyy±nap±la½ ±mantetv± “t±ta, ukkaºµhitar³posmi, janapada½ caritv± ±gamiss±mi, tva½ rañño katheyy±s²”ti vatv± pakkanto gaªg±ya n±v±tittha½ p±puºi. Tattha av±riyapit± n±ma n±viko ahosi. So b±lo neva guºavant±na½ guºa½ j±n±ti, na attano ±y±p±ya½ j±n±ti, so gaªga½ tarituk±ma½ jana½ paµhama½ t±retv± pacch± vetana½ y±cati, vetana½ adentehi saddhi½ kalaha½ karonto akkosappah±reyeva bah³ labhati, appa½ l±bha½, evar³po andhab±lo. Ta½ sandh±ya satth± abhisambuddho hutv± tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
3. “Av±riyapit± n±ma, ahu gaªg±ya n±viko;
pubbe jana½ t±retv±na, pacch± y±cati vetana½;
tenassa bhaº¹ana½ hoti, na ca bhogehi va¹¹hat²”ti.
Tattha av±riyapit± n±m±ti av±riy± n±ma tassa dh²t±, tass± vasena av±riyapit± n±ma j±to. Tenassa bhaº¹ananti tena k±raºena, tena v± pacch± y±ciyam±nena janena saddhi½ tassa bhaº¹ana½ hoti.
Bodhisatto ta½ n±vika½ upasaªkamitv± “±vuso, parat²ra½ ma½ neh²”ti ±ha. Ta½ sutv± so ±ha “samaºa, ki½ me n±v±vetana½ dassas²”ti? “¾vuso, aha½ bhogava¹¹hi½ atthava¹¹hi½ dhammava¹¹hi½ n±ma te kathess±m²”ti. Ta½ sutv± n±viko “dhuva½ esa mayha½ kiñci dassat²”ti ta½ parat²ra½ netv± “dehi me n±v±ya vetanan”ti ±ha. So tassa “s±dhu, ±vuso”ti paµhama½ bhogava¹¹hi½ kathento–
4. “Atiººa½yeva y±cassu, ap±ra½ t±ta n±vika;
añño hi tiººassa mano, añño hoti p±resino”ti.– G±tham±ha.
Tattha ap±ranti t±ta, n±vika parat²ra½ atiººameva jana½ orimat²re µhitaññeva vetana½ y±cassu, tato laddhañca gahetv± guttaµµh±ne µhapetv± pacch± manusse parat²ra½ neyy±si, eva½ te bhogava¹¹hi bhavissati. Añño hi tiººassa manoti t±ta n±vika, parat²ra½ gatassa añño mano bhavati, adatv±va gantuk±mo hoti. Yo panesa p±res² n±ma parat²ra½ esati, parat²ra½ gantuk±mo hoti, so atirekampi datv± gantuk±mo hoti, iti p±resino añño mano hoti, tasm± tva½ atiººameva y±ceyy±si, aya½ t±va te bhog±na½ va¹¹hi n±m±ti.
Ta½ sutv± n±viko cintesi “aya½ t±va me ov±do bhavissati, id±ni panesa añña½ kiñci mayha½ dassat²”ti. Atha na½ bodhisatto “aya½ t±va te, ±vuso, bhogava¹¹hi, id±ni atthadhammava¹¹hi½ suº±h²”ti vatv± ovadanto–
5. “G±me v± yadi v±raññe, ninne v± yadi v± thale;
sabbattha anus±s±mi, m±su kujjhittha n±vik±”ti.– G±tham±ha.
Itissa im±ya g±th±ya atthadhammava¹¹hi½ kathetv± “aya½ te atthava¹¹hi ca dhammava¹¹hi c±”ti ±ha. So pana dandhapuriso ta½ ov±da½ na kiñci maññam±no “ida½, samaºa, tay± mayha½ dinna½ n±v±vetanan”ti ±ha. “¾m±vuso”ti. “Mayha½ imin± kamma½ natthi, añña½ me deh²”ti. “¾vuso, ida½ µhapetv± mayha½ añña½ natth²”ti. “Atha tva½ kasm± mama n±va½ ±ru¼hos²”ti t±pasa½ gaªg±t²re p±tetv± ure nis²ditv± mukhamevassa pothesi.
Satth± “iti so, bhikkhave, t±paso ya½ ov±da½ datv± rañño santik± g±mavara½ labhi, tameva ov±da½ andhab±lassa n±vikassa kathetv± mukhapothana½ p±puºi, tasm± ov±da½ dentena yuttajanasseva d±tabbo, na ayuttajanass±”ti vatv± abhisambuddho hutv± tadanantara½ g±tham±ha–
6. “Y±yev±nus±saniy±, r±j± g±mavara½ ad±;
t±yev±nus±saniy±, n±viko pahar² mukhan”ti.
Tassa ta½ paharantasseva bhariy± bhatta½ gahetv± ±gat± p±papurisa½ disv± “s±mi, aya½ t±paso n±ma r±jakul³pako, m± pahar²”ti ±ha. So kujjhitv± “tva½ me ima½ k³µat±pasa½ paharitu½ na des²”ti uµµh±ya ta½ paharitv± p±tesi. Atha bhattap±ti patitv± bhijji, tass± ca pana garugabbh±ya gabbho bh³miya½ pati. Atha na½ manuss± sampariv±retv± “purisagh±takacoro”ti gahetv± bandhitv± rañño dassesu½. R±j± vinicchinitv± tassa r±j±ºa½ k±resi. Satth± abhisambuddho hutv± tamattha½ pak±sento os±nag±tham±ha–
7. “Bhatta½ bhinna½ hat± bhariy±, gabbho ca patito cham±;
migova j±tar³pena, na tenattha½ abandhi s³”ti.
Tattha bhatta½ bhinnanti bhattap±ti bhinn±. Hat±ti pahat±. Cham±ti bh³miya½. Migova j±tar³pen±ti yath± migo suvaººa½ v± hirañña½ v± mutt±maºi-±d²ni v± madditv± gacchantopi attharitv± nipajjantopi tena j±tar³pena attano attha½ va¹¹hetu½ nibbattetu½ na sakkoti, evameva so andhab±lo paº¹itehi dinna½ ov±da½ sutv±pi attano attha½ va¹¹hetu½ nibbattetu½ n±sakkh²ti vutta½ hoti. Abandhi s³ti ettha abandhi soti evamattho daµµhabbo. Sa-o-iti imesa½ pad±nañhi s³ti sandhi hoti.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± sacc±ni pak±setv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi, saccapariyos±ne so bhikkhu sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi. Tad± n±viko id±ni n±vikova ahosi, r±j± ±nando, t±paso pana ahameva ahosinti.
