Amittahatthatthagat±ti ida½ satth± jetavane viharanto paññ±p±rami½ ±rabbha kathesi. Tad± hi satth± “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi tath±gato paññav± up±yakusaloyev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto g±make kuµumbikakule nibbattitv±ti sabba½ purimaj±takaniy±meneva kathetabba½. Idha pana vejje mate g±mav±sino manuss± “manussam±rak±”ti te d±rake kudaº¹akehi bandhitv± “rañño dassess±m±”ti b±r±ºasi½ nayi½su. Bodhisatto antar±maggeyeva sesad±rak±na½ ov±da½ ad±si “tumhe m± bh±yatha, r±j±na½ disv±pi abh²t± tuµµhindriy± bhaveyy±tha, r±j± amhehi saddhi½ paµhamatara½ kathessati, tato paµµh±ya aha½ j±niss±m²”ti. Te “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± tath± kari½su. R±j± te abh²te tuµµhindriye disv± “ime ‘manussam±rak±’ti kudaº¹akabaddh± ±n²t±, evar³pa½ dukkha½ patt±pi na bh±yanti, tuµµhindriy±yeva, ki½ nu kho etesa½ asocanak±raºa½, pucchiss±mi ne”ti pucchanto paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
95. “Amittahatthatthagat±, tacas±rasamappit±;
pasannamukhavaºº±ttha, kasm± tumhe na socath±”ti.
Tattha amittahatthatthagat±ti kudaº¹akehi g²v±ya½ bandhitv± ±nent±na½ amitt±na½ hatthagat±. Tacas±rasamappit±ti ve¼udaº¹akehi baddhatt± evam±ha. Kasm±ti “evar³pa½ byasana½ patt±pi tumhe ki½k±raº± na socath±”ti pucchati.

96. “Na socan±ya paridevan±ya, atthova labbho api appakopi;
socantamena½ dukhita½ viditv±, paccatthik± attaman± bhavanti.
97. “Yato ca kho paº¹ito ±pad±su, na vedhat² atthavinicchayaññ³;
paccatthik±ssa dukhit± bhavanti, disv± mukha½ avik±ra½ pur±ºa½.
98. “Jappena mantena subh±sitena, anuppad±nena paveºiy± v±;
yath± yath± yattha labhetha attha½, tath± tath± tattha parakkameyya.
99. “Yato ca j±neyya alabbhaneyyo, may±va aññena v± esa attho;
asocam±no adhiv±sayeyya, kamma½ da¼ha½ kinti karomi d±n²”ti.
Tattha atthoti vu¹¹hi. Paccatthik± attaman±ti eta½ purisa½ socanta½ dukkhita½ viditv± pacc±mitt± tuµµhacitt± honti. Tesa½ tussanak±raºa½ n±ma paº¹itena k±tu½ na vaµµat²ti d²peti Yatoti yad±. Na vedhat²ti cittutr±sabhayena na kampati. Atthavinicchayaññ³ti tassa tassa atthassa vinicchayakusalo.
Jappen±ti mantaparijappanena. Manten±ti paº¹itehi saddhi½ mantaggahaºena. Subh±siten±ti piyavacanena. Anuppad±nen±ti lañjad±nena. Paveºiy±ti kulava½sena. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– mah±r±ja, paº¹itena n±ma ±pad±su uppann±su na socitabba½ na kilamitabba½, imesu pana pañcasu k±raºesu aññataravasena pacc±mitt± jinitabb±. Sace hi sakkoti, manta½ parijappitv± mukhabandhana½ katv±pi te jinitabb±, tath± asakkontena paº¹itehi saddhi½ mantetv± eka½ up±ya½ sallakkhetv± jinitabb±, piyavacana½ vattu½ sakkontena piya½ vatv±pi te jinitabb±, tath± asakkontena vinicchay±macc±na½ lañja½ datv±pi jinitabb±, tath± asakkontena kulava½sa½ kathetv± “maya½ asukapaveºiy± ±gat±, tumh±kañca amh±kañca ekova pubbapuriso”ti eva½ vijjam±nañ±tikoµi½ ghaµetv±pi jinitabb± ev±ti. Yath± yath±ti etesu pañcasu k±raºesu yena yena k±raºena yattha yattha attano vu¹¹hi½ labheyya. Tath± tath±ti tena tena k±raºena tattha tattha parakkameyya, parakkama½ katv± paccatthike jineyy±ti adhipp±yo.
Yato ca j±neyy±ti yad± pana j±neyya, may± v± aññena v± esa attho alabbhaneyyo n±nappak±rena v±yamitv±pi na sakk± laddhu½, tad± paº¹ito puriso asocam±no akilamam±no “may± pubbe katakamma½ da¼ha½ thira½ na sakk± paµib±hitu½, id±ni ki½ sakk± k±tun”ti adhiv±sayeyy±ti.
R±j± bodhisattassa dhammakatha½ sutv± kamma½ sodhetv± niddosabh±va½ ñatv± kudaº¹ake har±petv± mah±sattassa mahanta½ yasa½ datv± attano atthadhamma-anus±saka½ amaccaratana½ ak±si, sesad±rak±nampi yasa½ datv± µh±nantar±ni ad±si.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi “tad± b±r±ºasir±j± ±nando ahosi, d±rak± ther±nuther±, paº¹itad±rako pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
