Vikkama re harip±d±ti ida½ satth± jetavane viharanto s±vatthiya½ eka½ kuladh²tara½ ±rabbha kathesi. S± kira s±vatthiya½ dvinna½ aggas±vak±na½ upaµµh±kakulassa dh²t± saddh± pasann± buddham±mak± dhammam±mak± saªgham±mak± ±c±rasampann± paº¹it± d±n±dipuññ±bhirat±. Ta½ añña½ s±vatthiyameva sam±naj±tika½ micch±diµµhikakula½ v±resi. Athass± m±t±pitaro “amh±ka½ dh²t± saddh± pasann± t²ºi ratan±ni mam±yati d±n±dipuññ±bhirat±, tumhe micch±diµµhik± imiss±pi yath±ruciy± d±na½ v± d±tu½ dhamma½ v± sotu½ vih±ra½ v± gantu½ s²la½ v± rakkhitu½ uposathakamma½ v± k±tu½ na dassatha, na maya½ tumh±ka½ dema, attan± sadisa½ micch±diµµhikakul±va kum±rika½ gaºhath±”ti ±ha½su. S± ekadivasa½ s±mika½ ±ha– “icch±maha½, ayyaputta, amh±ka½ kul³pakatther±na½ d±na½ d±tun”ti. S±dhu, bhadde, yath±jjh±sayena d±na½ deh²ti. S± there nimant±petv± mahanta½ sakk±ra½ katv± paº²tabhojana½ bhojetv± ekamanta½ nis²ditv± “bhante, ima½ kula½ micch±diµµhika½ assaddha½ tiººa½ ratan±na½ guºa½ na j±n±ti, s±dhu, ayy±, y±va ima½ kula½ tiººa½ ratan±na½ guºa½ j±n±ti, t±va idheva bhikkha½ gaºhath±”ti ±ha. Ther± adhiv±setv± tattha nibaddha½ bhuñjanti. Puna s±mika½ ±ha “ayyaputta, ther± idha nibaddha½ ±gacchanti, ki½k±raº± tumhe na passath±”ti. “S±dhu, passiss±m²”ti. S± punadivase ther±na½ bhattakiccapariyos±ne tassa ±rocesi So upasaªkamitv± therehi saddhi½ paµisanth±ra½ katv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Athassa dhammasen±pati dhammakatha½ kathesi. So therassa dhammakath±ya ca iriy±pathesu ca pas²ditv± tato paµµh±ya ther±na½ ±sana½ paññapeti, p±n²ya½ pariss±veti, antar±bhatte dhammakatha½ suº±ti, tassa aparabh±ge micch±diµµhi bhijji.
Athekadivasa½ thero dvinnampi dhammakatha½ kathento sacc±ni pak±sesi, saccapariyos±ne ubhopi jayampatik± sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi½su. Tato paµµh±ya tassa m±t±pitaro ±di½ katv± antamaso d±sakammakar±pi sabbe micch±diµµhi½ bhinditv± buddhadhammasaªgham±mak±yeva j±t±. Athekadivasa½ d±rik± s±mika½ ±ha– “ayyaputta, ki½ me ghar±v±sena, icch±maha½ pabbajitun”ti. So “s±dhu bhadde, ahampi pabbajiss±m²”ti mahantena pariv±rena ta½ bhikkhunupassaya½ netv± pabb±jetv± sayampi satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± pabbajja½ y±ci. Ta½ satth± pabb±jesi. Ubhopi vipassana½ va¹¹hetv± na cirasseva arahatta½ p±puºi½su. Athekadivasa½ bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½ “±vuso, asuk± n±ma daharabhikkhun² attano ceva paccay± j±t± s±mikassa ca, attan±pi pabbajitv± arahatta½ patv± tampi p±pes²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva t±va es± s±mika½ r±gap±s± mocesi, pubbepes± por±ºakapaº¹ite pana maraºap±s± moces²”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto migayoniya½ nibbattitv± vayappatto abhir³po ahosi p±s±diko dassan²yo suvaººavaººo l±kh±rasaparikammakatehi viya hatthap±dehi rajatad±masadisehi vis±ºehi maºigu¼ikapaµibh±gehi akkh²hi rattakambalageº¹usadisena mukhena samann±gato. Bhariy±pissa taruºamig² abhir³p± ahosi dassan²y±. Te samaggav±sa½ vasi½su, as²tisahassacitramig± bodhisatta½ upaµµhahi½su. Tad± luddak± migav²th²su p±se o¹¹esu½. Athekadivasa½ bodhisatto mig±na½ purato gacchanto p±de p±sena bajjhitv± “chindiss±mi nan”ti ±ka¹¹hi, camma½ chijji, puna ±ka¹¹hantassa ma½sa½ chijji, puna nh±ru chijji, p±so aµµhim±hacca aµµh±si. So p±sa½ chinditu½ asakkonto maraºabhayatajjito baddharava½ ravi. Ta½ sutv± bh²to migagaºo pal±yi. Bhariy± panassa pal±yitv± mig±na½ antare olokent² ta½ adisv± “ida½ bhaya½ mayha½ piyas±mikassa uppanna½ bhavissat²”ti vegena tassa santika½ gantv± assumukh² rodam±n± “s±mi tva½ mahabbalo, ki½ eta½ p±sa½ sandh±retu½ na sakkhissasi, vega½ janetv± chind±hi nan”ti tassa uss±ha½ janent² paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
50. “Vikkama re harip±da, vikkama re mah±miga;
chinda v±rattika½ p±sa½, n±ha½ ek± vane rame”ti.

Sace y±can±ya na sakkhiss±mi, mama j²vitampi datv± tava j²vita½ ±hariss±m²”ti mah±satta½ ass±setv± lohitalitta½ bodhisatta½ pariggahetv± aµµh±si. Luddakopi asiñca sattiñca gahetv± kappuµµh±naggi viya ±gacchati. S± ta½ disv± “s±mi, luddako ±gacchati, aha½ attano bala½ kariss±mi, tva½ m± bh±y²”ti miga½ ass±setv± luddakassa paµipatha½ gantv± paµikkamitv± ekamanta½ µhit± ta½ vanditv± “s±mi, mama s±miko suvaººavaººo s²l±c±rasampanno, as²tisahass±na½ mig±na½ r±j±”ti bodhisattassa guºa½ kathetv± migar±je µhiteyeva attano vadha½ y±cant² tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
52. “Attharassu pal±s±ni, asi½ nibb±ha luddaka;
paµhama½ ma½ vadhitv±na, hana pacch± mah±migan”ti.
Tattha pal±s±n²ti ma½saµµhapanattha½ pal±sapaºº±ni attharassu. Asi½ nibb±h±ti asi½ kosato n²hara.
Ta½ sutv± luddako “manussabh³t± t±va s±mikassa atth±ya attano j²vita½ na pariccajanti, aya½ tiracch±nagat± j²vita½ pariccajati, manussabh±s±ya ca madhurena sarena katheti, ajja imiss± ca patino cass± j²vita½ dass±m²”ti pasannacitto catuttha½ g±tham±ha–
53. “Na me suta½ v± diµµha½ v±, bh±santi½ m±nusi½ migi½;
tvañca bhadde sukh² hohi, eso c±pi mah±migo”ti.
Tattha suta½ v± diµµha½ v±ti may± ito pubbe evar³pa½ diµµha½ v± suta½ v± natthi. Bh±santi½ m±nusi½ miginti ahañhi ito pubbe m±nusi½ v±ca½ bh±santi½ migi½ neva addasa½ na assosi½. Yesa½ pana “na me sut± v± diµµh± v±, bh±sant² m±nus² mig²”ti p±¼i, tesa½ yath±p±¼imeva attho dissati. Bhaddeti bhaddake paº¹ike up±yakusale. Iti ta½ ±lapitv± puna “tvañca eso c±pi mah±migoti dvepi jan± sukh² niddukkh± hoth±”ti ta½ samass±setv± luddako bodhisattassa santika½ gantv± v±siy± cammap±sa½ chinditv± p±de laggap±saka½ saºika½ n²haritv± nh±run± nh±ru½, ma½sena ma½sa½, cammena camma½ paµip±µetv± p±da½ hatthena parimajji. Taªkhaºaññeva mah±sattassa p³ritap±ramit±nubh±vena luddakassa ca mettacitt±nubh±vena migiy± ca mettadhamm±nubh±vena nh±ruma½sacamm±ni nh±ruma½sacammehi ghaµayi½su. Bodhisatto pana sukh² niddukkho aµµh±si.
Mig² bodhisatta½ sukhita½ disv± somanassaj±t± luddakassa anumodana½ karont² pañcama½ g±tham±ha–
54. “Eva½ luddaka nandassu, saha sabbehi ñ±tibhi;
yath±hamajja nand±mi, mutta½ disv± mah±migan”ti.
Tattha luddak±ti d±ruºakammakiriy±ya laddhan±mavasena ±lapati.
Bodhisatto “aya½ luddo mayha½ avassayo j±to, may±pissa avassayeneva bhavitu½ vaµat²”ti gocarabh³miya½ diµµha½ eka½ maºikkhandha½ tassa datv± “samma, ito paµµh±ya p±º±tip±t±d²ni m± kari, imin± kuµumba½ saºµhapetv± d±rake posento d±nas²l±d²ni puññ±ni karoh²”ti tassov±da½ datv± arañña½ p±visi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± luddako channo ahosi, mig² daharabhikkhun², migar±j± pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
