Aparabh±ge kesavo te t±pase ±d±ya loºambilasevanatth±ya manussapatha½ gantv± b±r±ºasi½ patv± r±juyy±ne vasitv± punadivase nagara½ bhikkh±ya pavisitv± r±jadv±ra½ agam±si. R±j± isigaºa½ disv± pakkos±petv± antonivesane bhojetv± paµiñña½ gahetv± uyy±ne vas±pesi. Atha vass±ratte atikkante kesavo r±j±na½ ±pucchi. R±j± “bhante, tumhe mahallak±, amhe t±va upaniss±ya vasatha, daharat±pase himavanta½ peseth±”ti ±ha. So “s±dh³”ti jeµµhantev±sikena saddhi½ te himavanta½ pesetv± saya½ ekakova ohiyi. Kappo himavanta½ gantv± t±pasehi saddhi½ vasi.
Kesavo kappena vin± vasanto ukkaºµhitv± ta½ daµµhuk±mo hutv± nidda½ na labhati, tassa nidda½ alabhantassa samm± ±h±ro na pariº±ma½ gacchati, lohitapakkhandik± ahosi, b±¼h± vedan± vattanti. R±j± pañca vejjakul±ni gahetv± t±pasa½ paµijaggi, rogo na v³pasammati. Kesavo r±j±na½ ±ha “mah±r±ja, ki½ mayha½ maraºa½ icchatha, ud±hu arogabh±van”ti “Arogabh±va½, bhante”ti. “Tena hi ma½ himavanta½ peseth±”ti. “S±dhu, bhante”ti r±j± n±rada½ n±ma amacca½ pakk±s±petv± “n±rada, amh±ka½ bhadanta½ gahetv± vanacarakehi saddhi½ himavanta½ y±h²”ti pesesi. N±rado ta½ tattha netv± pacc±gam±si. Kesavassapi kappe diµµhamatteyeva cetasikarogo v³pasanto, ukkaºµh± paµippassambhi. Athassa kappo aloºakena adh³panena udakamattasittapaººena saddhi½ s±m±kan²v±ray±gu½ ad±si, tassa taªkhaºaññeva lohitapakkhandik± paµippassambhi.
Puna r±j± n±rada½ pesesi “gaccha kesavassa t±pasassa pavatti½ j±n±h²”ti. So gantv± ta½ aroga½ disv± “bhante, b±r±ºasir±j± pañca vejjakul±ni gahetv± paµijagganto tumhe aroge k±tu½ n±sakkhi, katha½ te kappo paµijagg²”ti vatv± paµhama½ g±tham±ha–

Tattha manussindanti manuss±na½ inda½ b±r±ºasir±j±na½. Katha½ nu bhagav± kes²ti kena nu kho up±yena aya½ amh±ka½ bhagav± kesavat±paso kappassa assame ramat²ti.
Eva½ aññehi saddhi½ sallapanto viya kesavassa abhiratik±raºa½ pucchi. Ta½ sutv± kesavo dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
178. “S±d³ni ramaº²y±ni, santi vakkh± manoram±;
subh±sit±ni kappassa, n±rada ramayanti man”ti.
Tattha vakkh±ti rukkh±. P±¼iya½ pana “rukkh±”tveva likhita½. Subh±sit±n²ti kappena kathit±ni subh±sit±ni ma½ ramayant²ti attho.
Evañca pana vatv± “eva½ ma½ abhiram±pento kappo aloºaka½ adh³pana½ udakasittapaººamissa½ s±m±kan²v±ray±gu½ p±yesi, t±ya me sar²re by±dhi v³pasamito, arogo j±tomh²”ti ±ha. Ta½ sutv± n±rado tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
179. “S±l²na½ odana½ bhuñje, suci½ ma½s³pasecana½;
katha½ s±m±kan²v±ra½, aloºa½ ch±dayanti tan”ti.
Tattha bhuñjeti bhuñjasi, ayameva v± p±µho. Ch±dayant²ti ch±dayati p²ºeti toseti. G±th±bandhasukhattha½ pana anun±siko kato. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yo tva½ suci½ ma½s³pasecana½ r±jakule r±j±raha½ s±libhatta½ bhuñjasi, ta½ kathamida½ s±m±kan²v±ra½ aloºa½ p²ºeti toseti, katha½ te eta½ ruccat²ti.

vissattho yattha bhuñjeyya, viss±saparam± ras±”ti.
Tattha yadi v±s±dunti yadi v± as±du½. Vissatthoti nir±saªko viss±sapatto hutv±. Yattha bhuñjeyy±ti yasmi½ nivesane eva½ bhuñjeyya, tattha eva½ bhutta½ ya½kiñci bhojana½ s±dumeva. Kasm±? Yasm± viss±saparam± ras±, viss±so paramo uttamo etesanti viss±saparam± ras±. Viss±sasadiso hi añño raso n±ma natthi. Aviss±sikena hi dinna½ catumadhurampi viss±sikena dinna½ ambilakañjiya½ na agghat²ti.
N±rado tassa vacana½ sutv± rañño santika½ gantv± “kesavo ida½ n±ma kathes²”ti ±cikkhi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± r±j± ±nando ahosi, n±rado s±riputto, kesavo bakabrahm±, kappo pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
