Adassanena morass±ti ida½ satth± jetavane viharanto hatal±bhasakk±re titthiye ±rabbha kathesi. Titthiy± hi anuppanne buddhe l±bhino ahesu½, uppanne pana buddhe hatal±bhasakk±r± s³riyuggamane khajjopanak± viya j±t±. Tesa½ ta½ pavatti½ ±rabbha bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi y±va guºavant± na uppajjanti, t±va nigguº± l±bhaggayasaggappatt± ahesu½, guºavantesu pana uppannesu nigguº± hatal±bhasakk±r± j±t±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto morayoniya½ nibbattitv± vu¹¹himanv±ya sobhaggappatto araññe vicari. Tad± ekacce v±ºij± dis±k±ka½ gahetv± n±v±ya b±veruraµµha½ agama½su. Tasmi½ kira k±le b±veruraµµhe sakuº± n±ma natthi. ¾gat±gat± raµµhav±sino ta½ pañjare nisinna½ disv± “passathimassa chavivaººa½ galapariyos±na½ mukhatuº¹aka½ maºigu¼asadis±ni akkh²n²”ti k±kameva pasa½sitv± te v±ºijake ±ha½su “ima½, ayy±, sakuºa½ amh±ka½ detha, amh±ka½ imin± attho, tumhe attano raµµhe añña½ labhissath±”ti. “Tena hi m³lena gaºhath±”ti. “Kah±paºena no deth±”ti. “Na dem±”ti Anupubbena va¹¹hitv± “satena deth±”ti vutte “amh±ka½ esa bah³pak±ro, tumhehi saddhi½ metti hot³”ti kah±paºasata½ gahetv± ada½su. Te ta½ netv± suvaººapañjare pakkhipitv± n±nappak±rena macchama½sena ceva phal±phalena ca paµijaggi½su. Aññesa½ sakuº±na½ avijjam±naµµh±ne dasahi asaddhammehi samann±gato k±ko l±bhaggayasaggappatto ahosi.
Punav±re te v±ºij± eka½ morar±j±na½ gahetv± yath± accharasaddena vassati, p±ºippaharaºasaddena naccati, eva½ sikkh±petv± b±veruraµµha½ agama½su. So mah±jane sannipatite n±v±ya dhure µhatv± pakkhe vidhunitv± madhurassara½ nicch±retv± nacci. Manuss± ta½ disv± somanassaj±t± “eta½, ayy±, sobhaggappatta½ susikkhita½ sakuºar±j±na½ amh±ka½ deth±”ti ±ha½su. Amhehi paµhama½ k±ko ±n²to, ta½ gaºhittha, id±ni eka½ morar±j±na½ ±nayimh±, etampi y±catha, tumh±ka½ raµµhe sakuºa½ n±ma gahetv± ±gantu½ na sakk±ti. “Hotu, ayy±, attano raµµhe añña½ labhissatha, ima½ no deth±”ti m³la½ va¹¹hetv± sahassena gaºhi½su. Atha na½ sattaratanavicitte pañjare µhapetv± macchama½saphal±phalehi ceva madhul±jasakkarap±nak±d²hi ca paµijaggi½su, may³rar±j± l±bhaggayasaggappatto j±to, tass±gatak±lato paµµh±ya k±kassa l±bhasakk±ro parih±yi, koci na½ oloketumpi na icchi. K±ko kh±dan²yabhojan²ya½ alabham±no “k±k±”ti vassanto gantv± ukk±rabh³miya½ otaritv± gocara½ gaºhi.

156. “Yad± ca sarasampanno, buddho dhamma½ adesayi;
atha l±bho ca sakk±ro, titthiy±na½ ah±yath±”ti.
Tattha sikhinoti sikh±ya samann±gatassa. Mañjubh±ºinoti madhurassarassa. Ap³jesunti ap³jayi½su. Ma½sena ca phalena c±ti n±nappak±rena ma½sena phal±phalena ca. B±verum±gam±ti b±veruraµµha½ ±gato. “Bh±ver³”tipi p±µho. Ah±yath±ti parih²no. Dhammar±j±ti navahi lokuttaradhammehi parisa½ rañjet²ti dhammar±j±. Pabhaªkaroti sattaloka-ok±salokasaªkh±ralokesu ±lokassa katatt± pabhaªkaro. Sarasampannoti brahmassarena samann±gato. Dhamma½ adesay²ti catusaccadhamma½ pak±ses²ti.
Iti im± catasso g±th± bh±sitv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± k±ko nigaºµho n±µaputto ahosi, morar±j± pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
