Na te p²µhamad±yimh±ti ida½ satth± jetavane viharanto ańńatara½ bhikkhu½ ±rabbha kathesi. So kira janapadato jetavana½ gantv± pattac²vara½ paµis±metv± satth±ra½ vanditv± s±maŗeradahare pucchi “±vuso, s±vatthiya½ ±gantukabhikkh³na½ ke upak±rak±”ti “¾vuso, an±thapiŗ¹iko n±ma mah±seµµhi, vis±kh± n±ma mah±-up±sik± ete bhikkhusaŖghassa upak±rak± m±t±pituµµh±niy±”ti. So “s±dh³”ti punadivase p±tova ekabhikkhussapi apaviµµhak±le an±thapiŗ¹ikassa gharadv±ra½ agam±si. Ta½ avel±ya gatatt± koci na olokesi So tato kińci alabhitv± vis±kh±ya gharadv±ra½ gato. Tatr±pi atip±tova gatatt± kińci na labhi. So tattha tattha vicaritv± pun±gacchanto y±guy± niµµhit±ya gato, punapi tattha tattha vicaritv± bhatte niµµhite gato. So vih±ra½ gantv± “dvepi kul±ni assaddh±ni appasann±ni eva, ime bhikkh³ pana ‘saddh±ni pasann±n²’ti kathent²”ti t±ni kul±ni paribhavanto carati.
Athekadivasa½ dhammasabh±ya½ bhikkh³ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½– “±vuso, asuko kira j±napado bhikkhu atik±lasseva kuladv±ra½ gato bhikkha½ alabhitv± kul±ni paribhavanto carat²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte ta½ bhikkhu½ pakkos±petv± “sacca½ kira bhikkh³”ti pucchitv± “sacca½, bhante”ti vutte “kasm± tva½ bhikkhu kujjhasi, pubbe anuppanne buddhe t±pas±pi t±va kuladv±ra½ gantv± bhikkha½ alabhitv± na kujjhi½s³”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ŗasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto br±hmaŗakule nibbattitv± vayappatto takkasil±ya½ sabbasipp±ni uggaŗhitv± aparabh±ge t±pasapabbajja½ pabbajitv± himavante cira½ vasitv± loŗambilasevanatth±ya b±r±ŗasi½ patv± uyy±ne vasitv± punadivase nagara½ bhikkh±ya p±visi. Tad± b±r±ŗasiseµµhi saddho hoti pasanno. Bodhisatto “katara½ kulaghara½ saddhan”ti pucchitv± “seµµhigharan”ti sutv± seµµhino gharadv±ra½ agam±si. Tasmi½ khaŗe seµµhi r±jupaµµh±na½ gato, manuss±pi na½ na passi½su, so nivattitv± gacchati. Atha na½ seµµhi r±jakulato nivattanto disv± vanditv± bhikkh±bh±jana½ gahetv± ghara½ netv± nis²d±petv± p±dadhovanatelamakkhanay±gukhajjak±d²hi santappetv± antar±bhatte kińci k±raŗa½ apucchitv± katabhattakicca½ vanditv± ekamanta½ nisinno “bhante, amh±ka½ gharadv±ra½ ±gat± n±ma y±cak± v± dhammikasamaŗabr±hmaŗ± v± sakk±rasamm±na½ alabhitv± gatapubb± n±ma natthi, tumhe pana ajja amh±ka½ d±rakehi adiµµhatt± ±sana½ v± p±n²ya½ v± p±dadhovana½ v± y±gubhatta½ v± alabhitv±va gat±, aya½ amh±ka½ doso, ta½ no khamitu½ vaµµat²”ti vatv± paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
145. “Na te p²µhamad±yimh±, na p±na½ napi bhojana½;
brahmac±ri khamassu me, eta½ pass±mi accayan”ti.

Ta½ sutv± bodhisatto dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
146. “Nev±bhisajj±mi na c±pi kuppe, na c±pi me appiyam±si kińci;
athopi me ±si manovitakko, et±diso n³na kulassa dhammo”ti.
Tattha nev±bhisajj±m²ti neva lagg±mi. Et±disoti “imassa kulassa et±diso n³na sabh±vo, ad±yakava½so esa bhavissat²”ti eva½ me manovitakko uppanno.
Ta½ sutv± seµµhi itar± dve g±th± abh±si–
147. “Esasm±ka½ kule dhammo, pitupit±maho sad±;
±sana½ udaka½ pajja½, sabbeta½ nipad±mase.
148. “Esasm±ka½ kule dhammo, pitupit±maho sad±;
sakkacca½ upatiµµh±ma, uttama½ viya ń±takan”ti.
Tattha dhammoti sabh±vo. Pitupit±mahoti pit³nańca pit±mah±nańca santako. Udakanti p±dadhovana-udaka½. Pajjanti p±damakkhanatela½. Sabbetanti sabba½ eta½. Nipad±maseti nik±rapak±r± upasagg±, d±maseti attho, dad±m±ti vutta½ hoti. Imin± y±va sattam± kulaparivaµµ± d±yakava½so amh±ka½ va½soti dasseti. Uttama½ viya ń±takanti m±tara½ viya pitara½ viya ca maya½ dhammika½ samaŗa½ v± br±hmaŗa½ v± disv± sakkacca½ sahatthena upaµµhah±m±ti attho.
Bodhisatto pana katip±ha½ b±r±ŗasiseµµhino dhamma½ desento tattha vasitv± puna himavantameva gantv± abhińń± ca sam±pattiyo ca nibbattetv± brahmalokapar±yaŗo ahosi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± sacc±ni pak±setv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi, saccapariyos±ne so bhikkhu sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi. Tad± b±r±ŗasiseµµhi ±nando ahosi, t±paso pana ahameva ahosinti.
