Devadattena hi tath±gate aµµh±nakopa½ bandhitv± dhanuggahesu payojitesu n±¼±girivissajjanena tassa doso p±kaµo j±to. Athassa paµµhapit±ni dhuvabhatt±d²ni manusss± na kari½su, r±j±pi na½ na olokesi. So hatal±bhasakk±ro kulesu viññ±petv± bhuñjanto vicari. Bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½ “±vuso, devadatto ‘l±bhasakk±ra½ upp±dess±m²’ti uppannampi thira½ k±tu½ n±sakkh²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepesa hatal±bhasakk±ro ahos²”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.

Sakk±ro ca mah± ahosi, l±bhaggayasaggappatt± ahesu½. Atheko vanacarako k±¼ab±hu½ n±meka½ mah±k±¼amakkaµa½ ±netv± b±r±ºasirañño ad±si. Tassa pacch± ±gatatt± mahantataro l±bhasakk±ro ahosi, suk±na½ parih±yi. Bodhisatto t±dilakkhaºayogato na kiñci ±ha, kaniµµho panasssa t±dilakkhaº±bh±v± ta½ makkaµassa sakk±ra½ asahanto “bh±tika, pubbe imasmi½ r±jakule s±dhurasakh±dan²y±d²ni amh±kameva denti, id±ni pana maya½ na labh±ma, k±¼ab±humakkaµasseva denti. Maya½ dhanañjayarañño santik± l±bhasakk±ra½ alabhant± imasmi½ µh±ne ki½ kariss±ma, ehi araññameva gantv± vasiss±m±”ti tena saddhi½ sallapanto paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
113. “Ya½ annap±nassa pure labh±ma, ta½ d±ni s±khamigameva gacchati;
gacch±ma d±ni vanameva r±dha, asakkat± casma dhanañjay±y±”ti.
Tattha ya½ annap±nass±ti ya½ annap±na½ assa rañño santik±. Upayogatthe v± s±mivacana½. Dhanañjay±y±ti karaºatthe sampad±navacana½, dhanañjayena. Asakkat± casm±ti annap±na½ na labh±ma, imin± ca na sakkatamh±ti attho.

114. “L±bho al±bho yaso ayaso ca, nind± pasa½s± ca sukhañca dukkha½;
ete anicc± manujesu dhamm±, m± soci ki½ socasi poµµhap±d±”ti.
Tattha yasoti issariyapariv±ro. Ayasoti tass±bh±vo. Eteti ete aµµha lokadhamm± manujesu anicc±, l±bhaggayasaggappatt± hutv±pi aparena samayena appal±bh± appasakk±r± honti, niccal±bhino n±ma na honti. Yas±d²supi eseva nayo.

Tattha katha½ n³ti kena nu kho up±yena. Dakkhis±m±ti dakkhiss±ma. Niddh±vitanti nivuµµh±pita½ nikka¹¹h±pita½. Jammanti l±maka½.

116. “C±leti kaººa½ bhakuµi½ karoti, muhu½ muhu½ bh±yayate kum±re;
sayameva ta½ k±hati k±¼ab±hu, yen±rak± µhassati annap±n±”ti.
Tattha bh±yayate kum±reti r±jakum±re utr±seti. Yen±rak± µhassati annap±n±ti yena k±raºena imamh± annap±n± d³re µhassati, sayameva ta½ k±raºa½ karissati, m± tva½ etassa cintay²ti attho.
K±¼ab±hupi katip±heneva r±jakum±r±na½ purato µhatv± kaººacalan±d²ni karonto kum±re bh±y±pesi. Te bh²tatasit± vissaramaka½su. R±j± “ki½ etan”ti pucchitv± tamattha½ sutv± “nikka¹¹hatha nan”ti makkaµa½ nikka¹¹h±pesi. Suk±na½ l±bhasakk±ro puna p±katiko ahosi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± k±¼ab±hu devadatto ahosi, poµµhap±do ±nando, r±dho pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
