Tassa s²latejena sakkassa paº¹ukambalasil±sana½ uºh±k±ra½ dassesi. So ±vajjam±no ida½ k±raºa½ disv± “sasar±j±na½ v²ma½siss±m²”ti paµhama½ uddassa vasanaµµh±na½ gantv± br±hmaºavesena aµµh±si. “Br±hmaºa, kimattha½ µhitos²”ti vutte paº¹ita sace kiñci ±h±ra½ labheyya½, uposathiko hutv± vaseyyanti. Tattha thalamubbhat±ti udakato thale µhapit±, kevaµµena v± uddhaµ±. Eta½ bhutv±ti eta½ mama santaka½ macch±h±ra½ pacitv± bhuñjitv± samaºadhamma½ karonto ramaº²ye rukkham³le nisinno imasmi½ vane vas±ti.

Tattha dussa meti yo esa mama avid³re khettap±lo vasati, dussa amuss±ti attho. Ap±bhatanti ±bhata½ ±n²ta½. Ma½sas³l± ca dve godh±ti aªg±rapakk±ni dve ma½sas³l±ni ca ek± ca godh±. Dadhiv±rakanti dadhiv±rako. Idanti ida½ ettaka½ mama atthi, eta½ sabbampi yath±bhirucitena p±kena pacitv± paribhuñjitv± uposathiko hutv± ramaº²ye rukkham³le nis²ditv± samaºadhamma½ karonto imasmi½ vanasaº¹e vas±ti attho.

Tattha ambapakkanti madhura-ambaphala½. Daka½ s²tanti gaªg±ya udaka½ s²tala½. Eta½ bhutv± vane vas±ti br±hmaºa eta½ ambapakka½ paribhuñjitv± s²tala½ udaka½ pivitv± yath±bhirucite ramaº²ye rukkham³le nisinno samaºadhamma½ karonto imasmi½ vanasaº¹e vas±ti.

imin± aggin± pakka½, mama½ bhutv± vane vas±”ti.
Tattha mama½ bhutv±ti ya½ ta½ aha½ aggi½ karoh²ti vad±mi, imin± aggin± pakka½ ma½ bhuñjitv± imasmi½ vane vasa, ekassa sasassa sar²ra½ n±ma ekassa purisassa y±panamatta½ hot²ti.
Sakko tassa vacana½ sutv± attano ±nubh±vena eka½ aªg±rar±si½ m±petv± bodhisattassa ±rocesi. So dabbatiºasayanato uµµh±ya tattha gantv± “sace me lomantaresu p±ºak± atthi, te m± mari½s³”ti tikkhattu½ sar²ra½ vidhunitv± sakalasar²ra½ d±namukhe µhapetv± laªghitv± padumasare r±jaha½so viya pamuditacitto aªg±rar±simhi pati. So pana aggi bodhisattassa sar²re lomak³pamattampi uºha½ k±tu½ n±sakkhi, himagabbha½ paviµµho viya ahosi. Atha sakka½ ±mantetv± “br±hmaºa, tay± kato aggi atis²talo, mama sar²re lomak³pamattampi uºha½ k±tu½ na sakkoti, ki½ n±metan”ti ±ha. “Sasapaº¹ita, n±ha½ br±hmaºo, sakkohamasmi, tava v²ma½sanatth±ya ±gatomh²”ti. “Sakka, tva½ t±va tiµµha, sakalopi ce lokasanniv±so ma½ d±nena v²ma½seyya, neva me ad±tuk±mata½ passeyy±”ti bodhisatto s²han±da½ nadi. Atha na½ sakko “sasapaº¹ita, tava guºo sakalakappa½ p±kaµo hot³”ti pabbata½ p²¼etv± pabbatarasa½ ±d±ya candamaº¹ale sasalakkhaºa½ likhitv± bodhisatta½ ±netv± tasmi½ vanasaº¹e tasmi½yeva vanagumbe taruºadabbatiºapiµµhe nipajj±petv± attano vasanaµµh±nameva gato. Tepi catt±ro paº¹it± samagg± sammodam±n± s²la½ p³retv± d±na½ datv± uposathakamma½ katv± yath±kamma½ gat±.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± sacc±ni pak±setv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi, saccapariyos±ne sabbaparikkh±rad±nad±yako gahapati sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi.
Tad± uddo ±nando ahosi, siªg±lo moggall±no, makkaµo s±riputto, sakko anuruddho, sasapaº¹ito pana ahameva ahosinti.
