At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente brahmadattassa putto brahmadattakum±ro n±ma purohitaputto ca kassapo n±ma dve sah±yak± hutv± ek±cariyakule sabbasipp±ni uggaºhi½su. Aparabh±ge brahmadattakum±ro pitu accayena rajje patiµµh±si. Kassapo cintesi “mayha½ sah±yo r±j± j±to, id±ni me mahanta½ issariya½ dassati, ki½ me issariyena, aha½ m±t±pitaro ca r±j±nañca ±pucchitv± pabbajiss±m²”ti. So r±j±nañca m±t±pitaro ca ±pucchitv± himavanta½ pavisitv± isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± sattame divase abhiññ± ca sam±pattiyo ca nibbattetv± uñch±cariy±ya y±pento vih±si. Pabbajita½ pana na½ “lomasakassapo”ti sañj±ni½su. So paramajitindriyo ghoratapo t±paso ahosi. Tassa tejena sakkassa bhavana½ kampi. Sakko ±vajjento ta½ disv± cintesi “aya½ t±paso ativiya uggatejo sakkabh±v±pi ma½ c±veyya, b±r±ºasiraññ± saddhi½ ekato hutv± tapamassa bhindiss±m²”ti. Bala½ vel± samuddass±ti mah±samuddassa uttaritu½ adatv± udaka½ ±varitv± vin±setu½ samatthat±ya vel± bala½ n±ma. Tassa rava½ sutv± ses±pi hatthi-assa-usabh±dayo maraºabhayatajjit± bhayena viravi½su. Mah±janopi viravi. Kassapo ta½ mah±virava½ sutv± sa½vegappatto hutv± attano jaµ±d²ni olokesi. Athassa jaµ±massukacchalom±ni p±kaµ±ni ahesu½. So vippaµis±r² hutv± “ananur³pa½ vata me p±pakamma½ katan”ti sa½vega½ pak±sento aµµhama½ g±tham±ha–
