Iti, mah±r±ja, so bako jighacch±p²¼ito saddamak±si. Sacepi ta½ jighacch±to mocetuk±mo, ta½ uyy±na½ sodh±petv± pokkharaºi½ udakassa p³reh²ti. R±j± tath± k±retu½ eka½ amacca½ ±º±pesi.

“P±s±dakaººik±ya pana te, mah±r±ja, eko ghuºap±ºako vasati. So tattha pheggu½ kh±ditv± tasmi½ kh²ºe s±ra½ kh±ditu½ n±sakkhi, so bhakkha½ alabhitv± nikkhamitumpi asakkonto paridevam±no tatiya½ saddamak±si, tatopi te bhaya½ natth²”ti vatv± tassa kiriya½ attano ñ±ºena paricchinditv± tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
12. “Sabb± parikkhat± pheggu, y±va tass± gat² ahu;
kh²ºabhakkho mah±r±ja, s±re na ramat² ghuºo”ti.
Tattha y±va tass± gat² ah³ti y±va tass± phegguy± nipphatti ahosi, s± sabb± kh±dit±. Na ramat²ti “mah±r±ja, so p±ºako tato nikkhamitv± gamanaµµh±nampi apassanto paridevati, n²har±pehi nan”ti ±ha. R±j± eka½ purisa½ ±º±petv± up±yena na½ n²har±pesi.

Tattha dumas±khaniketin²ti supupphit±su rukkhas±kh±su sakaniket± hutv±. Evañca pana vatv± “ukkaºµhit±, mah±r±ja, s± kokil±, vissajjehi nan”ti ±ha. R±j± tath± k±resi.
“Nivesane pana te, mah±r±ja, eko pos±vaniyo migo atth²”ti? “Atthi, bhante”ti. “Mah±r±ja, so eko y³thapati attano migi½ anussaritv± kilesavasena ukkaºµhito pañcama½ saddamak±si, tatopi te bhaya½ natth²”ti vatv± pañcama½ g±tham±ha–

aggodak±ni piss±mi, y³thassa purato vajan”ti.
Tattha aggodak±n²ti agga-udak±ni, aññehi migehi paµhamatara½ ap²t±ni anucchiµµhodak±ni y³thassa purato gacchanto kad± nu kho piviss±m²ti.
Mah±satto tampi miga½ vissajj±petv± “nivesane pana te, mah±r±ja, pos±vaniyo makkaµo atth²”ti pucchi. “Atthi, bhante”ti vutte “sopi, mah±r±ja, himavantapadese y³thapati makkaµ²hi saddhi½ k±magiddho hutv± vicaranto bharatena n±ma luddena idha ±n²to, id±ni ukkaºµhitv± tattheva gantuk±mo chaµµha½ saddamak±si, tatopi te bhaya½ natth²”ti vatv± chaµµha½ g±tham±ha–
15. “Ta½ ma½ k±mehi sammatta½, ratta½ k±mesu mucchita½;
±nay² bharato luddo, b±hiko bhaddamatthu te”ti.
Tattha b±hikoti b±hikaraµµhav±s². Bhaddamatthu teti imamattha½ so v±naro ±ha, tuyha½ pana bhaddamatthu, vissajjehi nanti.
Mah±satto ta½ v±nara½ vissajj±petv± “nivesane pana te, mah±r±ja, pos±vaniyo kinnaro atth²”ti pucchitv± “atth²”ti vutte “so, mah±r±ja, attano kinnariy± kataguºa½ anussaritv± kiles±turo saddamak±si. So hi t±ya saddhi½ ekadivasa½ tuªgapabbatasikhara½ ±ruhi. Te tattha vaººagandharasasampann±ni n±n±pupph±ni ocinant± pi¼andhant± s³riya½ atthaªgata½ na sallakkhesu½, atthaªgate s³riye otarant±na½ andhak±ro ahosi. Tattha andhak±ratimis±yanti andhabh±vak±rake tame. Tuªgeti tikhiºe. Saºhena mudun±ti maµµhena mudukena vacanena. M± p±da½ khali yasman²ti ya-k±ro byañjanasandhivasena gahito.
