Kodha j±garata½ suttoti ida½ satth± jetavane viharanto aññatara½ up±saka½ ±rabbha kathesi. So hi sot±panno ariyas±vako s±vatthito sakaµasatthena saddhi½ kant±ramagga½ paµipajji. Satthav±ho tattha ekasmi½ udakaph±sukaµµh±ne pañca sakaµasat±ni mocetv± kh±dan²yabhojan²ya½ sa½vidahitv± v±sa½ upagacchi. Te manuss± tattha tattha nipajjitv± supi½su, up±sako pana satthav±hassa santike ekasmi½ rukkham³le caªkama½ adhiµµh±si. Atha na½ sattha½ vilumpituk±m± pañcasat± cor± n±n±vudh±ni gahetv± sattha½ pariv±retv± aµµha½su. Te ta½ up±saka½ caªkamanta½ disv± “imassa nidd±yanak±le vilumpiss±m±”ti tattha tattha aµµha½su, sopi tiy±maratti½ caªkamiyeva. Cor± pacc³sasamaye gahitagahit± p±s±ºamuggar±dayo cha¹¹etv± “bho satthav±ha, ima½ appam±dena jagganta½ purisa½ niss±ya j²vita½ labhitv± tava santakassa s±miko j±to, etassa sakk±ra½ kareyy±s²”ti vatv± pakkami½su. Manuss± k±lasseva vuµµh±ya tehi cha¹¹itap±s±ºamuggar±dayo disv± “ima½ niss±ya amhehi j²vita½ laddhan”ti up±sakassa sakk±ra½ aka½su. Up±sakopi icchitaµµh±na½ gantv± katakicco puna s±vatthi½ ±gantv± jetavana½ gantv± tath±gata½ p³jetv± vanditv± nisinno “ki½, up±saka, na paññ±yas²”ti vutte tamattha½ ±rocesi. Satth± “na kho, up±saka, tva½yeva anidd±yitv± jagganto visesa½ labhi, por±ºakapaº¹it±pi jaggant± visesa½ guºa½ labhi½s³”ti vatv± tena y±cito at²ta½ ±hari.

ko mameta½ vij±n±ti, ko ta½ paµibhaº±ti me”ti.
Tattha kodh±ti ko idha. Ko mametanti ko mama eta½ pañha½ vij±n±ti. Ko ta½ paµibhaº±ti meti eta½ may± puµµha½ pañha½ mayha½ ko paµibhaº±ti, ko by±karitu½ sakkhissat²ti pucchati.

ahameta½ vij±n±mi, aha½ paµibhaº±mi te”ti.–

137. “Katha½ j±garata½ sutto, katha½ suttesu j±garo;
katha½ eta½ vij±n±si, katha½ paµibhaº±si me”ti.–

Ima½ g±tha½ puµµho tamattha½ by±karonto–

138. “Ye dhamma½ nappaj±nanti, sa½yamoti damoti ca;
tesu suppam±nesu, aha½ jagg±mi devate.
139. “Yesa½ r±go ca doso ca, avijj± ca vir±jit±;
tesu j±garam±nesu, aha½ suttosmi devate.
140. “Eva½ j±garata½ sutto, eva½ suttesu j±garo;
evameta½ vij±n±mi, eva½ paµibhaº±mi te”ti.– Im± g±th± ±ha.
Tattha katha½ j±garata½ suttoti katha½ tva½ j±garata½ satt±na½ antare sutto n±ma hosi. Esa nayo sabbattha. Ye dhammanti ye satt± navavidha½ lokuttaradhamma½ na paj±nanti. Sa½yamoti damoti c±ti “aya½ sa½yamo, aya½ damo”ti evañca ye maggena ±gata½ s²lañceva indriyasa½varañca na j±nanti. Indriyasa½varo hi manacchaµµh±na½ indriy±na½ damanato “damo”ti vuccati. Tesu suppam±nes³ti tesu kilesanidd±vasena supantesu sattesu aha½ appam±davasena jagg±mi.
“Yesa½ r±go c±”ti g±th±ya yesa½ mah±kh²º±sav±na½ padasatena niddiµµhadiya¹¹hasahassataºh±lobhasaªkh±to r±go ca nava-±gh±tavatthusamuµµh±no doso ca dukkh±d²su aµµhasu vatth³su aññ±ºabh³t± avijj± c±ti ime kiles± vir±jit± pah²n±, tesu ariyesu sabb±k±rena j±garam±nesu te up±d±ya aha½ sutto n±ma devateti attho. Eva½ j±garatanti eva½ devate aha½ imin± k±raºena j±garata½ sutto n±m±ti. Esa nayo sabbapadesu.
Eva½ mah±sattena pañhe kathite tuµµh± devat± tassa thuti½ karont² os±nag±tham±ha–
141. “S±dhu j±garata½ sutto, s±dhu suttesu j±garo;
s±dhu meta½ vij±n±si, s±dhu paµibhaº±si me”ti.
Tattha s±dh³ti bhaddaka½ katv± tva½ ima½ pañha½ kathesi, mayampi na½ evameva kathem±ti. Eva½ s± bodhisattassa thuti½ katv± attano vim±nameva p±visi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± devadh²t± uppalavaºº± ahosi, t±paso pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
