Mahallako tasmi½ k±lakate rodanto paridevanto vicarati. Ta½ disv± bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½ “±vuso, asukamahallako s±maºerassa k±lakiriy±ya rodanto paridevanto vicarati, maraºassatikammaµµh±narahito maññe”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepesa imasmi½ mate rodiyev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente bodhisatto t±vati½sabhavane sakkatta½ k±resi. Atheko k±sig±mav±s² br±hmaºamah±s±lo k±me pah±ya himavanta½ pavisitv± isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± uñch±cariy±ya vanam³laphal±phalehi y±pento v±sa½ kappesi. Ekadivasa½ phal±phalatth±ya gato eka½ hatthich±pa½ disv± attano assama½ ±netv± puttaµµh±ne µhapetv± somadattotissa n±ma½ katv± tiºapaºº±ni kh±d±pento paµijaggi. So vayappatto mah±sar²ro hutv± ekadivasa½ bahu½ bhojana½ gahetv± aj²rakena dubbalo ahosi. T±paso ta½ assamapade katv± phal±phalatth±ya gato, tasmi½ an±gateyeva hatthipotako k±lamak±si. T±paso phal±phala½ gahetv± ±gacchanto “aññesu divasesu me putto paccuggamana½ karoti, ajja na dissati, kaha½ nu kho gato”ti paridevanto paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
105. “Yo ma½ pure paccu¹¹eti, araññe d³ram±yato;
so na dissati m±taªgo, somadatto kuhi½ gato”ti.
Tattha pureti ito pure. Paccu¹¹et²ti paccuggacchati. Araññe d³ranti imasmi½ nimmanusse araññe ma½ d³ra½ paccu¹¹eti. ¾yatoti ±y±masampanno.

Tattha aya½ v±ti vibh±vanatthe v±-saddo. Ayameva so, na aññoti ta½ vibh±vento evam±ha. Allasiªganti m±luvalat±ya aggapav±la½. Vacchitoti chinno, gimhak±le majjhanhikasamaye tattav±lik±puline nakhena chinditv± p±tito m±luvalat±ya aªkuro viy±ti vutta½ hoti. Bh³my±ti bh³miya½. Amar± vat±ti mato vata, “amar²”tipi p±µho.
Tasmi½ khaºe sakko loka½ olokento ta½ disv± “aya½ t±paso puttad±ra½ pah±ya pabbajito, id±ni hatthipotake puttasañña½ katv± paridevati, sa½vejetv± na½ sati½ paµilabh±pess±m²”ti tassa assamapada½ ±gantv± ±k±se µhitova tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
107. “Anag±riyupetassa vippamuttassa te sato;
samaºassa na ta½ s±dhu, ya½ petamanusocas²”ti.

108. “Sa½v±sena have sakka, manussassa migassa v±;
hadaye j±yate pema½, ta½ na sakk± asocitun”ti.
Tattha migassa v±ti imasmi½ µh±ne sabbepi tiracch±n± “mig±”ti vutt±. Tanti piy±yita½ satta½.
Atha na½ ovadanto sakko dve g±th± abh±si–
109. “Mata½ marissa½ rodanti, ye rudanti lapanti ca;
tasm± tva½ isi m± rodi, rodita½ mogham±hu santo.
110. “Kanditena have brahme, mato peto samuµµhahe;
sabbe saªgamma rod±ma, aññamaññassa ñ±take”ti.
Tattha ye rudanti lapanti c±ti brahme ye satt± rodanti paridevanti ca, sabbe te mata½, yo ca marissati, ta½ rodanti, tesa½yeva eva½ rodant±na½ assusukkhanak±lo natthi, tasm± tva½ isi m± rodi. Ki½k±raº±? Rodita½ mogham±hu santo, paº¹it± hi “rodita½ nipphalan”ti vadanti. Mato petoti yadi esa petoti saªkhya½ gato mato roditena samuµµhaheyya, eva½ sante sabbepi maya½ sam±gantv± aññamaññassa ñ±take rod±ma, ki½ nikkamm± acch±m±ti.

yo me sokaparetassa, puttasoka½ ap±nudi.
113. “Soha½ abb³¼hasallosmi, v²tasoko an±vilo;
na soc±mi na rod±mi, tava sutv±na v±sav±”ti.

Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± hatthipotako s±maºero ahosi, t±paso mahallako, sakko pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
