Heµµh³papattiko kiresa brahm± pubbe jh±na½ bh±vetv± vehapphalesu nibbatto, tattha pañcakappasataparim±ºa½ ±yu½ khepetv± subhakiºhesu nibbattitv± catusaµµhikappa½ khepetv± tato cuto aµµhakapp±yukesu ±bhassaresu nibbatti, tatrassa es± diµµhi uppajji. So hi neva uparibrahmalokato cuti½, na tattha upapatti½ anussari, tadubhayampi apassanto eva½ diµµhi½ gaºhi. Bhagav± tassa cetas± cetoparivitakkamaññ±ya seyyath±pi n±ma balav± puriso samiñjita½ v± b±ha½ pas±reyya, pas±rita½ v± b±ha½ samiñjeyya, evameva jetavane antarahito tasmi½ brahmaloke p±turahosi. Atha brahm± bhagavanta½ disv± “ehi kho, m±risa, sv±gata½ m±risa, cirassa½ kho, m±risa, ima½ pariy±yamak±si, yadida½ idh±gaman±ya. Idañhi m±risa, nicca½ ida½ dhuva½ ida½ sassata½ ida½ kevala½ ida½ acavanadhamma½, idañhi na ca j±yati na j²yati na m²yati na cavati na upapajjati, ito ca panañña½ uttari nissaraºa½ natth²”ti ±ha.
Eva½ vutte bhagav± baka½ brahm±na½ etadavoca “avijj±gato vata bho bako brahm±, avijj±gato vata bho bako brahm±, yatra hi n±ma aniccaññeva sam±na½ niccanti vakkhati…pe… santañca panañña½ uttari nissaraºa½, natthañña½ uttari nissaraºanti vakkhat²”ti (sa½. ni. 1.175). Ta½ sutv± brahm± “tva½ eva½ kathesi, tva½ eva½ kathesi, iti ma½ esa anuyuñjanto anubandhat²”ti cintetv± yath± n±ma dubbalo coro katipaye pah±re labhitv± “ki½ ahameva coro, asukopi coro asukopi coro”ti sabbepi sah±yake ±cikkhati, tatheva bhagavato anuyogabhayena bh²to aññepi attano sah±yake ±cikkhanto paµhama½ g±tham±ha–
68. “Dv±sattati gotama puññakamm±, vasavattino j±tijara½ at²t±;
ayamantim± vedag³ brahmapatti, asm±bhijappanti jan± anek±”ti. (Sa½. ni. 1.175).
Tattha dv±sattat²ti na kevala½ bho gotama, ahameva, atha kho imasmi½ brahmaloke maya½ dv±sattati jan± puññakamm± aññesa½ upari atthano vasa½ vattanena vasavattino j±tiñca jarañca at²t±, aya½ no vedehi gatatt± vedag³, aya½ bho gotama antim± brahmapatti, pacchimakoµippatti seµµhabh±vappatti. Asm±bhijappanti jan± anek±ti amhe aññe bah³ jan± pañjalik± hutv±– “aya½ kho bhava½ brahm± mah±brahm±”ti-±d²ni vadant± namassanti patthenti pihayanti, “aho vata mayampi evar³p± bhaveyy±m±”ti icchant²ti attho.
Tassa vacana½ sutv± satth± dutiya½ g±tham±ha–
69. “Appa½ hi eta½ na hi d²gham±yu, ya½ tva½ baka maññasi d²gham±yu½;
sata½ sahass±ni nirabbud±na½, ±yu½ paj±n±mi tav±ha brahme”ti. (Sa½. ni. 1.175).
Tattha sata½ sahass±ni nirabbud±nanti nirabbudasaªkh±t±na½ gaºan±na½ satasahass±ni. Vass±nañhi dasadasaka½ sata½, dasa sat±na½ sahassa½, sata½ sahass±na½ satasahassa½, sata½ satasahass±na½ koµi n±ma, sata½ koµisatasahass±na½ pakoµi n±ma, sata½ pakoµisatasahass±na½ koµipakoµi n±ma, sata½ koµipakoµisatasahass±na½ eka½ nahuta½ n±ma, sata½ nahutasatasahass±na½ eka½ ninnahuta½ n±ma. Cheko gaºako ettaka½ gaºetu½ sakkoti, tato para½ gaºan± n±ma buddh±nameva visayo. Tattha sata½ ninnahutasatasahass±na½ eka½ abbuda½, v²sati abbud±ni eka½ nirabbuda½, tesa½ nirabbudasatasahass±na½ eka½ ahaha½ n±ma, ettaka½ bakassa brahmuno tasmi½ bhave avasiµµha½ ±yu, ta½ sandh±ya bhagav± evam±ha.
Ta½ sutv± bako tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
70. “Anantadass² bhagav±hamasmi, j±tijjara½ sokamup±tivatto;
ki½ me pur±ºa½ vatas²lavatta½, ±cikkha me ta½ yamaha½ vijaññan”ti. (Sa½. ni. 1.175).
Tattha bhagav±ti bhagav± tumhe “±yu½ paj±n±mi tav±han”ti vadant± “aha½ anantadass² j±tijarañca sokañca up±tivattosm²”ti vadatha. Vatas²lavattanti vatasam±d±nañca s²lavattañca. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yadi tumhe sabbaññubuddh±, eva½ sante ki½ mayha½ pur±ºa½ vatañca s²lavattañca, ±cikkha me ta½, yamaha½ tay± ±cikkhita½ y±th±vasarasato vij±neyyanti.

71. “Ya½ tva½ ap±yesi bah³ manusse, pip±site ghammani samparete;
ta½ te pur±ºa½ vatas²lavatta½, suttappabuddhova anussar±mi.
72. “Ya½ eºik³lasmi jana½ gah²ta½, amocay² gayhaka n²yam±na½;
ta½ te pur±ºa½ vatas²lavatta½, suttappabuddhova anussar±mi.
73. “Gaªg±ya sotasmi½ gah²tan±va½, luddena n±gena manussakapp±;
amocayi tva½ balas± pasayha, ta½ te pur±ºa½ vatas²lavatta½;
suttappabuddhova anussar±mi.
74. “Kappo ca te baddhacaro ahosi½, sambuddhimanta½ vatina½ amañña½;
ta½ te pur±ºa½ vatas²lavatta½, suttappabuddhova anussar±m²”ti. (Sa½. ni. 1.175).

So kira bakabrahm± ekasmi½ kappe t±paso hutv± marukant±re vasanto bah³na½ kant±rapaµipann±na½ p±n²ya½ ±haritv± ad±si. Athekadivasa½ eko satthav±ho pañcahi sakaµasatehi marukant±ra½ paµipajji. Manuss± dis± vavatthapetu½ asakkont± satta divas±ni ±hiº¹itv± kh²ºad±rudak± nir±h±r± uºh±bhibh³t± “id±ni no j²vita½ natth²”ti sakaµe parivattetv± goºe mocetv± heµµh±sakaµesu nipajji½su. Tad± t±paso ±vajjento te disv± “mayi passante m± nassi½s³”ti cintetv± attano iddh±nubh±vena gaªg±sota½ ubbattetv± satthav±h±bhimukha½ ak±si, avid³re ca eka½ vanasaº¹a½ m±pesi. Manuss± p±n²ya½ pivitv± nhatv± goºe santappetv± vanasaº¹ato tiºa½ l±yitv± d±r³ni gahetv± disa½ sallakkhetv± arog± kant±ra½ atikkami½su, ta½ sandh±yeta½ vutta½.

Tad± manuss± dve tayo n±v±saªgh±µe bandhitv± saªgh±µamatthake pupphamaº¹apa½ k±retv± saªgh±µe nis²ditv± kh±dant± pivant± sambandhakula½ gacchanti. Te p²t±vasesa½ sura½ bhuttakh±dit±vases±ni bhattamacchama½satambul±d²ni gaªg±yameva p±tenti. Gaªgeyyo n±gar±j± “ime ucchiµµhaka½ mama upari khipant²”ti kujjhitv± “sabbe te jane gahetv± gaªg±ya os²d±pess±m²”ti mahanta½ ekadoºikan±vappam±ºa½ attabh±va½ m±petv± udaka½ bhinditv± phaºa½ dh±rayam±no tesa½ abhimukho p±y±si. Te n±gar±j±na½ disv± maraºabhayatajjit± ekappah±reneva mah±sadda½ kari½su. T±paso tesa½ paridevitasadda½ sutv± n±gar±jassa ca kuddhabh±va½ ñatv± “mayi passante m± nassi½s³”ti khippanisantiy± attano ±nubh±vena khippa½ supaººavaººa½ att±na½ m±petv± agam±si N±gar±j± ta½ disv± maraºabhayatajjito udake nimujji. Manuss± sotthibh±va½ patv± agama½su, ta½ sandh±yeta½ vutta½.
Baddhacaroti antev±siko. Sambuddhimanta½ vatina½ amaññanti buddhisampanno ceva vatasampanno ca t±pasoti ta½ maññam±no. Imin± ki½ dasseti? Mah±brahme aha½ at²te tava kesavat±pasak±le kappo n±ma antev±siko veyy±vaccakaro hutv± tuyha½ n±radena n±ma amaccena b±r±ºasito himavanta½ ±n²tassa roga½ v³pasamesi½. Atha na½ n±rado dutiyav±re ±gantv± niroga½ disv± ima½ g±tha½ abh±si–
“Manussinda½ jahitv±na, sabbak±masamiddhina½;
katha½ nu bhagav± kesi, kappassa ramati assame”ti. (J±. 1.4.181).

Tamena½ tva½ etadavoca–

“S±d³ni ramaº²y±ni, santi vakkh± manoram±;
subh±sit±ni kappassa, n±rada ramayanti man”ti. (J±. 1.4.182).

Itissa bhagav± ima½ attan± antev±sikena hutv± rogassa v³pasamitabh±va½ d²pento evam±ha. Tañca pana brahmun± manussaloke katakamma½ sabba½ mah±brahm±na½ sallakkh±pentova kathesi.

So satthu vacanena attan± katakamma½ saritv± tath±gatassa thuti½ karonto os±nag±tham±ha–
75. “Addh± paj±n±si mametam±yu½, aññampi j±n±si tath± hi buddho;
tath± hi t±ya½ jalit±nubh±vo, obh±saya½ tiµµhati brahmalokan”ti.
Tattha tath± hi buddhoti tath± hi tva½ buddho. Buddh±nañhi aññ±ta½ n±ma natthi, sabbadhamm±na½ buddhatt±yeva hi te buddh± n±m±ti dasseti. Tath± hi t±yanti buddhatt±yeva ca pana tava aya½ jalito sar²rappabh±nubh±vo. Obh±saya½ tiµµhat²ti ima½ sakalampi brahmaloka½ obh±sento tiµµhati.
Eva½ satth± attano buddhaguºa½ j±n±pento dhamma½ desetv± sacc±ni pak±sesi, saccapariyos±ne sampatt±na½ dasamatt±na½ brahmasahass±na½ anup±d±ya ±savehi citt±ni vimucci½su. Iti bhagav± bah³na½ brahm±na½ avassayo hutv± brahmalok± jetavana½ ±gantv± tattha kathitaniy±meneva ta½ dhammadesana½ bhikkh³na½ kathetv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi– “tad± kesavat±paso bakabrahm± ahosi, kappam±ºavo pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
