So s±sana½ sutv± attano rajjapariyanteyeva aµµh±si. Assakopi attano rajjapariyante aµµh±si. Tad± bodhisatto isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± tesa½ dvinna½ rajj±na½ antare paººas±l±ya½ vasati. K±liªgo cintesi “samaº± n±ma kiñci j±nissanti, ko j±n±ti, ki½ bhavissati, kassa jayo v± par±jayo v± bhavissati, t±pasa½ pucchiss±m²”ti aññ±takavesena bodhisatta½ upasaªkamitv± vanditv± ekamanta½ nis²ditv± paµisanth±ra½ katv± “bhante, k±liªgo ca assako ca yujjhituk±m± attano attano rajjas²m±yameva µhit±, etesu kassa jayo bhavissati, kassa par±jayo”ti pucchi. Mah±puñña, aha½ “asukassa jayo, asukassa par±jayo”ti na j±n±mi, sakko pana devar±j± idh±gacchati, tamaha½ pucchitv± kathess±mi, sve ±gaccheyy±s²ti. Sakko bodhisattassa upaµµh±na½ ±gantv± nis²di, atha na½ bodhisatto tamattha½ pucchi. Bhante, k±liªgo jinissati, assako par±jissati, idañcidañca pubbanimitta½ paññ±yissat²ti.
K±liªgo punadivase ±gantv± pucchi, bodhisattopissa ±cikkhi. So “ki½ n±ma pubbanimitta½ bhavissat²”ti apucchitv±va “aha½ kira jiniss±m²”ti uµµh±ya tuµµhiy± pakk±mi. S± kath± vitth±rik± ahosi. Ta½ sutv± assako nandisena½ pakkos±petv± “k±liªgo kira jinissati½ maya½ par±jiss±ma, ki½ nu kho k±tabban”ti ±ha. So “ko eta½ j±n±ti mah±r±ja, kassa jayo v± par±jayo v±, tumhe m± cintayitth±”ti r±j±na½ ass±setv± bodhisatta½ upasaªkamitv± vanditv± ekamanta½ nisinno “bhante, ko jinissati, ko par±jissat²”ti pucchi. “K±liªgo jinissati, assako par±jissat²”ti? “Bhante, jinantassa pubbanimitta½ ki½ bhavissati, ki½ par±jinantass±”ti? “Mah±puñña, jinantassa ±rakkhadevat± sabbaseto usabho bhavissati, itarassa sabbak±¼ako, ubhinnampi ±rakkhadevat± yujjhitv± jayapar±jaya½ karissant²”ti. Nandiseno ta½ sutv± uµµh±ya gantv± rañño sah±ye sahassamatte mah±yodhe gahetv± avid³re pabbata½ abhiruyha “ambho, amh±ka½ rañño j²vita½ d±tu½ sakkhissath±”ti pucchi. “¾ma, sakkhiss±m±”ti. “Tena hi imasmi½ pap±te patath±”ti. Te patitu½ ±rabhi½su. Atha ne v±retv± “ala½ ettha patanena, amh±ka½ rañño j²vita½ d±tu½ suhaday± anivattino hutv± yujjhath±”ti ±ha. Te sampaµicchi½su½.
Atha saªg±me upaµµhite k±liªgo “aha½ kira jiniss±m²”ti vos±na½ ±pajji, balak±y±pissa “amh±ka½ kira jayo”ti vos±na½ ±pajjitv± sann±ha½ akatv± vaggavagg± hutv± yath±ruci pakkami½su, v²riyakaraºak±le v²riya½ na kari½su. Ubhopi r±j±no assa½ abhiruhitv± “yujjhiss±m±”ti aññamañña½ upasaªkamanti. Ubhinna½ ±rakkhadevat± purato gantv± k±liªgarañño ±rakkhadevat± sabbaseto usabho ahosi, itarassa sabbak±¼ako. T± devat±pi aññamañña½ yujjhan±k±ra½ dassent± upasaªkami½su. Te pana usabh± ubhinna½ r±j³na½yeva paññ±yanti, na aññesa½. Nandiseno assaka½ pucchi “paññ±yati te, mah±r±ja, ±rakkhadevat±”ti. “¾ma, paññ±yat²”ti. “Ken±k±ren±”ti. “K±liªgarañño ±rakkhadevat± sabbaseto usabho hutv± paññ±yati, amh±ka½ ±rakkhadevat± sabbak±¼ako kilamanto hutv± tiµµhat²”ti. “Mah±r±ja, tumhe m± bh±yatha, maya½ jiniss±ma, k±liªgo par±jissati, tumhe assapiµµhito otaritv± ima½ satti½ gahetv± susikkhitasindhava½ udarapasse v±mahatthena upp²¼etv± imin± purisasahassena saddhi½ vegena gantv± k±liªgarañño ±rakkhadevata½ sattippah±rena p±tetha, tato maya½ sahassamatt± sattisahassena pahariss±ma eva½ k±liªgassa ±rakkhadevat± nassissati, tato k±liªgo par±jissati, maya½ jiniss±m±”ti. 2. “Jayo kaliªg±namasayhas±hina½, par±jayo anayo assak±na½;
icceva te bh±sita½ brahmac±ri, na ujjubh³t± vitatha½ bhaºant²”ti.
Tattha asayhas±hinanti asayha½ dussaha½ sahitu½ samatth±na½. Icceva te bh±sitanti eva½ tay± k³µat±pasa lañja½ gahetv± par±jinakar±j±na½ jinissati, jinanar±j±nañca par±jissat²ti bh±sita½. Na ujjubh³t±ti ye k±yena v±c±ya manas± ca ujubh³t±, na te mus± bhaºant²ti.
Eva½ so t±pasa½ akkosanto pal±yanto attano nagarameva gato, nivattitv± oloketumpi n±sakkhi. Tato katip±haccayena sakko t±pasassa upaµµh±na½ agam±si. T±paso tena saddhi½ kathento tatiya½ g±tham±ha–
3. “Dev± mus±v±damup±tivatt±, sacca½ dhana½ parama½ tesu sakka;
ta½ te mus± bh±sita½ devar±ja, ki½ v± paµicca maghav± mahind±”ti.
Tattha ta½ te mus± bh±sitanti ya½ tay± mayha½ bh±sita½, ta½ atthabhañjanakamus±v±da½ kathentena tay± mus± bh±sita½, tay± ki½ k±raºa½ paµicca eva½ bh±sitanti?

4. “Nanu te suta½ br±hmaºa bhaññam±ne, dev± na issanti purisaparakkamassa;
damo sam±dhi manaso abhejjo, abyaggat± nikkamanañca k±le;
da¼hañca viriya½ purisaparakkamo ca, teneva ±si vijayo assak±nan”ti.
Tassattho– ki½ tay±, br±hmaºa, tattha tattha vacane bhaññam±ne ida½ na sutapubba½, ya½ dev± purisaparakkamassa na issanti na us³yanti, assakarañño v²riyakaraºavasena attadamanasaªkh±to damo, samaggabh±vena manaso abhejjo, abhejjasam±dhi, assakarañño sah±y±na½ v²riyakaraºak±le abyaggat± yath± k±liªgassa manuss± vaggavagg± hutv± osakki½su, eva½ anosakkana½ samaggabh±vena abhejjacitt±na½ v²riyañca purisaparakkamo ca thiro ahosi, teneva k±raºena assak±na½ jayo ahos²ti.
Pal±te ca pana k±liªge assakar±j± vilopa½ g±h±petv± attano nagara½ gato. Nandiseno k±liªgassa s±sana½ pesesi “im±sa½ catunna½ r±jakaññ±na½ d±yajjakoµµh±sa½ pesetu, sace na peseti, k±tabbamettha j±niss±m²”ti. So ta½ s±sana½ sutv± bh²tatasito t±hi laddhabbad±yajja½ pesesi, tato paµµh±ya samaggav±sa½ vasi½su.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv± j±taka½ samodh±nesi “tad± k±liªgarañño dh²taro im± daharabhikkhuniyo ahesu½, nandiseno s±riputto, t±paso pana ahameva ahosin”ti.
