Paµiggahesi bhagav± anukampa½ up±d±ya So bhikkhusaªghe ca abhippasanno sal±kabhatta½ paµµhapetv± saªghuddesavasena tiººa½ bhikkh³na½ y±vat±yuka½ kh²rabhatta½ ad±si. So tehi puññakammehi apar±para½ devamanussesu sampatti½ anubhavanto ekad± manussayoniya½ nibbatto ekassa paccekabuddhassa kh²rabhatta½ ad±si. Eva½ tattha tattha puññ±ni katv± sugat²su eva paribbhamanto imasmi½ buddhupp±de purimakammanissandena s±vatthiya½ aññatar±ya duggatitthiy± kucchimhi paµisandhi½ gaºhi. Tassa m±t± dasa m±se kucchin± pariharitv± paripakke gabbhe vij±yanak±le vij±yitu½ asakkont² muccha½ ±pajjitv± bahuvela½ mat± viya nipajji. Ta½ ñ±tak± “mat±”ti saññ±ya sus±na½ netv± citaka½ ±ropetv± devat±nubh±vena v±tavuµµhiy± uµµhit±ya aggi½ adatv± pakkami½su. D±rako pacchimabh±vikatt± devat±nubh±vena m±tukucchito arogo nikkhami. M±t± pana k±lamak±si. Devat± ta½ gahetv± manussar³pena sus±nagopakassa gehe µhapetv± katipayak±la½ patir³pena ±h±rena posesi. Tato para½ sus±nagopako ca na½ attano putta½ katv± va¹¹heti. Athekadivasa½ sattavassika½ ta½ bhagav± pacc³savel±ya ñ±ºaj±la½ pattharitv± veneyyabandhave oloketv± ñ±ºajalantogadha½ disv± sus±naµµh±na½ agam±si. D±rako pubbahetun± codiyam±no pasannam±naso satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± vanditv± aµµh±si. Satth± tassa dhamma½ kathesi. So dhamma½ sutv± pabbajja½ y±citv± “pitar± anuññ±tos²”ti vutto pitara½ satthu santika½ nesi. Tassa pit± satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± vanditv± “bhante, ima½ d±raka½ pabb±jeth±”ti anuj±ni. Satth± ta½ pabb±jetv± mett±bh±van±ya niyojesi. So mett±kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± sus±ne viharanto ca cirasseva mett±jh±na½ nibbattetv± jh±na½ p±daka½ katv± vipassana½ va¹¹hetv± arahatta½ sacch±k±si. Tena vutta½ apad±ne (apa. thera 2.45.1-7)–
“Kakusandho mah±v²ro, sabbadhamm±na p±rag³;
gaºamh± v³pakaµµho so, agam±si vanantara½.
“B²jamiñja½ gahetv±na, lat±ya ±vuºi½ aha½;
bhagav± tamhi samaye, jh±yate pabbatantare.
“Disv±naha½ devadeva½, vippasannena cetas±;
dakkhiºeyyassa v²rassa, b²jamiñjamad±saha½.
“Imasmi½yeva kappamhi, ya½ miñjamadadi½ tad±;
duggati½ n±bhij±n±mi, b²jamiñjassida½ phala½.
“Kiles± jh±pit± mayha½…pe… kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti;
arah± hutv± pana aññesa½ sos±nikabhikkh³na½ mett±bh±van±vidhi½ dassento “yath±pi ekaputtasmin”ti g±tha½ abh±si;
33. tattha yath±ti opammatthe nip±to; ekaputtasminti pun±ti ca kulava½sa½ t±yati c±ti putto, atraj±dibhedo putto; eko putto ekaputto, tasmi½ ekaputtasmi½; visaye ceta½ bhummavacana½; piyasminti piy±yitabbat±ya ceva ekaputtat±ya ca r³pas²l±c±r±d²hi ca pemakaraºaµµh±nabh³te; kusal²ti kusala½ vuccati khema½ sotthibh±vo, ta½ labhitabba½ etassa atth²ti kusal², satt±na½ hites² mettajjh±sayo; sabbesu p±ºes³ti sabbesu sattesu; sabbatth±ti sabb±su dis±su sabbesu v± bhav±d²su, sabb±su v± avatth±su; ida½ vutta½ hoti– yath± ekaputtake piye man±pe m±t±pit± kusal² ekantahites² bhaveyya, eva½ puratthim±dibhed±su sabb±su dis±su, k±mabhav±dibhedesu sabbesu bhavesu dahar±dibhed±su sabb±su avatth±su ca µhitesu sabbesu sattesu ekantahitesit±ya kusal² bhaveyya, “mitto ud±s²no pañcatthiko”ti s²ma½ akatv± s²m±sambhedavasena sabbattha ekarasa½ metta½ bh±veyy±ti; ima½ pana g±tha½ vatv± “sace tumhe ±yasmanto eva½ mett±bh±vana½ anuyuñjeyy±tha, ye te bhagavat± ‘sukha½ supat²’ti-±din± (a. ni. 11.15) ek±dasa mett±nisa½s± vutt±, eka½sena tesa½ bh±gino bhavath±”ti ov±damad±si;
