Phuµµho ¹a½seh²ti ±yasmato gahvarat²riyattherassa g±th±. K± uppatti? So kira purimabuddhesu kat±dhik±ro ito ekati½se kappe sikhissa bhagavato k±le migaluddo hutv± araññe vicaranto addasa sikhi½ bhagavanta½ aññatarasmi½ rukkham³le devan±gayakkh±na½ dhamma½ desenta½, disv± pana pasannam±naso “dhammo esa vuccat²”ti sare nimitta½ aggahesi. So tena cittappas±dena devaloke uppanno puna apar±para½ sugat²suyeva sa½saranto imasmi½ buddhupp±de s±vatthiya½ br±hmaºakule nibbattitv± “aggidatto”ti laddhan±mo vayappatto bhagavato yamakap±µih±riya½ disv± sañj±tappas±do s±sane pabbajitv± kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± gahvarat²re n±ma araññaµµh±ne vasati. Tenassa gahvarat²rayoti samaññ± ahosi. So vipassana½ va¹¹hetv± nacirasseva arahatta½ p±puºi. Tena vutta½ apad±ne (apa. thera 2.52.44-50)–
“Migaluddo pure ±si, araññe vipine aha½;
addasa½ viraja½ buddha½, devasaªghapurakkhata½.
“Catusacca½ pak±senta½, desenta½, amata½ pada½;
assosi½ madhura½ dhamma½, sikhino lokabandhuno.
“Ghose citta½ pas±desi½, asamappaµipuggale;
tattha citta½ pas±detv±, uttari½ duttara½ bhava½.
“Ekati½se ito kappe, ya½ saññamalabhi½ tad±;
duggati½ n±bhij±n±mi, ghosasaññ±yida½ phala½.
“Kiles± jh±pit± mayha½…pe… kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti;
arahatta½ pana patv± bhagavanta½ vanditv± s±vatthiya½ agam±si; tassa ±gatabh±va½ sutv± ñ±tak± upagantv± mah±d±na½ pavattesu½; so katipayadivase vasitv± araññameva gantuk±mo ahosi; ta½ ñ±tak±, “bhante, arañña½ n±ma ¹a½samakas±divasena bahuparissaya½, idheva vasath±”ti ±ha½su; ta½ sutv± thero “araññav±soyeva mayha½ ruccat²”ti vivek±bhiratikittanamukhena añña½ by±karonto “phuµµho ¹a½seh²”ti g±tha½ abh±si;
31. tattha phuµµho ¹a½sehi makaseh²ti ¹a½sanas²lat±ya “¹a½s±”ti laddhan±m±hi andhakamakkhik±hi, makasanaññitehi ca s³cimukhap±ºehi phussito daµµhoti attho; araññasminti “pañcadhanusatika½ pacchiman”ti (p±r±. 654) vutta-araññalakkhaºayogato araññe; brah±vaneti mah±rukkhagacchagahanat±ya mah±vane araññ±niya½; n±go saªg±mas²sev±ti saªg±m±vacaro hatthin±go viya saªg±mamuddhani parasen±sampah±ra½; “araññav±so n±ma buddh±d²hi vaººito thomito”ti uss±haj±to sato satim± hutv± tatra tasmi½ araññe, tasmi½ v± ¹a½s±disamphasse upaµµhite adhiv±saye adhiv±seyya saheyya, “¹a½s±dayo ma½ ±b±dhent²”ti araññav±sa½ na jaheyy±ti attho;
