So haµµho udaggo p²tivegena diguºuss±ho hutv± sota½ chindanto s²ghena javena bhagavanta½ parat²ra½ nesi. Bhagav± tassa cittappas±da½ oloketv± “aya½ ito cuto devaloke nibbattitv± tato paµµh±ya sugat²suyeva sa½saranto ito catunavute kappe amata½ p±puºissat²”ti by±karitv± pakk±mi.
So tath± sugat²suyeva paribbhamanto imasmi½ buddhupp±de s±vatthiya½ aññatarassa br±hmaºassa putto hutv± nibbatti uttiyo n±ma n±mena. So vayappatto “amata½ pariyesiss±m²”ti paribb±jako hutv± vicaranto ekadivasa½ bhagavanta½ upasaªkamitv± dhamma½ sutv± s±sane pabbajitv±pi s²l±d²na½ avisodhitatt± visesa½ nibbattetu½ asakkonto aññe bhikkh³ visesa½ nibbattetv± añña½ by±karonte disv± satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± saªkhepeneva ov±da½ y±ci. Satth±pi tassa “tasm±tiha tva½, uttiya, ±dimeva visodheh²”ti-±din± (sa½. ni. 5.369) saªkhepeneva ov±da½ ad±si. So tassa ov±de µhatv± vipassana½ ±rabhi. Tassa ±raddhavipassanassa ±b±dho uppajji. Uppanne pana ±b±dhe sañj±tasa½vego v²riy±rambhavatthu½ katv± vipassan±ya kamma½ karonto vipassana½ ussukk±petv± arahatta½ p±puºi. Tena vutta½ apad±ne (apa. thera 1.3.169-179)–
“Candabh±g±nad²t²re, susum±ro aha½ tad±;
sagocarapasutoha½, naditittha½ agacchaha½.
“Siddhattho tamhi samaye, sayambh³ aggapuggalo;

“Upagate ca sambuddhe, ahampi tatthup±gami½;
upagantv±na sambuddha½, ima½ v±ca½ ud²rayi½.

arahatta½ pana patv± attano samm± paµipattiy± paripuºº±k±ravibh±vanamukhena añña½ by±karonto “±b±dhe me samuppanne”ti g±tha½ abh±si;
30. tattha ±b±dhe me samuppanneti sar²rassa ±b±dhanato “±b±dho”ti laddhan±me visabh±gadh±tukkhobhahetuke roge mayha½ sañj±te; sati me udapajjath±ti “uppanno kho me ±b±dho, µh±na½ kho paneta½ vijjati, yadida½ ±b±dho va¹¹heyya; y±va pan±ya½ ±b±dho na va¹¹hati, hand±ha½ v²riya½ ±rabh±mi ‘appattassa pattiy± anadhigatassa adhigam±ya asacchikatassa sacchikiriy±y±”’ti v²riy±rambhavatthubh³t± sati tasseva ±b±dhassa vasena dukkh±ya vedan±ya p²¼iyam±nassa mayha½ udap±di; ten±ha “±bodho me samuppanno, k±lo me nappamajjitun”ti; eva½ uppannañhi sati½ aªkusa½ katv± aya½ thero arahatta½ pattoti;
