So tena puññakammena t±vati½sesu nibbattitv± apar±para½ devamanussesu sa½saranto imasmi½ buddhupp±de kosalarañño g±mabhojakassa coravos±sakassa putto hutv± nibbatti, heraññak±n²tissa n±ma½ ahosi. So vayappatto pitu accayena raññ± tasmi½yeva g±mabhojakaµµh±ne µhapito jetavanapaµiggahaºe buddh±nubh±va½ disv± paµiladdhasaddho attano kaniµµhassa ta½ µh±nantara½ d±petv± r±j±na½ ±pucchitv± pabbajitv± vipassana½ paµµhapetv± nacirasseva arahatta½ p±puºi. “Tena kammena sukatena, cetan±paºidh²hi ca;

“Tetti½sakkhattu½ devindo, devarajjamak±rayi½;
sattasattatikkhattuñca, cakkavatt² ahosaha½.
“Padesarajja½ vipula½, gaºan±to asaªkhiya½;
upa¹¹hadussad±nena, mod±mi akutobhayo.
“Iccham±no caha½ ajja, sak±nana½ sapabbata½;
khomadussehi ch±deyya½, a¹¹hadussassida½ phala½.

Tattha accayant²ti atikkamanti, lahu½ lahu½ apagacchant²ti attho. Ahoratt±ti rattindiv±. J²vita½ uparujjhat²ti j²vitindriyañca khaºikanirodhavasena nirujjhati. Vuttañhi “khaºe khaºe, tva½ bhikkhu, j±yasi ca jiyyasi ca miyyasi ca cavasi ca upapajjasi c±”ti. ¾yu kh²yati macc±nanti maritabbasabh±vatt± macc±ti laddhan±m±na½ imesa½ satt±na½ ±yu “yo cira½ j²vati, so vassasata½ appa½ v± bhiyyo”ti (d². ni. 2.91; sa½. ni. 2.143; a. ni. 7.74) eva½ paricchinnak±laparam±yu kh²yati khayañca sambhedañca gacchati, yath± ki½? Kunnad²na½va odaka½ yath± n±ma kunnad²na½ pabbateyy±na½ khuddakanad²na½ udaka½ cira½ na tiµµhati, lahutara½ kh²yati, ±gatamatta½yeva vigacchati, eva½ satt±na½ ±yu lahutara½ kh²yati khaya½ gacchati. Ettha ca udakameva “odakan”ti vutta½, yath± manoyeva m±nasanti.
Atha p±p±ni kamm±ni, kara½ b±lo na bujjhat²ti eva½ sa½s±re aniccepi sam±ne b±lo lobhavasena v± kodhavasena v± p±p±ni kamm±ni karoti, karontopi na bujjhati, p±pa½ karonto ca “p±pa½ karom²”ti abujjhanako n±ma natthi, “imassa kammassa evar³po dukkho vip±ko”ti pana aj±nanato “na bujjhat²”ti vutta½.
