So tena puññakammena devamanussesu sa½saranto imasmi½ buddhupp±de p±diyatthajanapade vibhavasampannassa br±hmaºassa putto hutv± nibbatti, jotid±sotissa n±ma½ ahosi. So viññuta½ patv± gharam±vasanto ekadivasa½ mah±kassapatthera½ attano g±me piº¹±ya caranta½ disv± pasannacitto bhojetv± therassa santike dhamma½ sutv± attano g±masam²pe pabbate mahanta½ vih±ra½ k±retv± thera½ tattha v±setv± cat³hi paccayehi upaµµhahanto therassa dhammadesan±ya paµiladdhasa½vego pabbajitv± vipassan±ya kamma½ karonto nacirasseva cha¼abhiñño ahosi. “Kaºik±ra½va jotanta½, nisinna½ pabbatantare;
addasa½ viraja½ buddha½, lokajeµµha½ nar±sabha½.
“Pasannacitto sumano, sire katv±na añjali½;
k±sum±rikam±d±ya, buddhaseµµhassad±saha½.
“Ekati½se ito kappe, ya½ phala½ adadi½ tad±;
duggati½ n±bhij±n±mi, phalad±nassida½ phala½.
“Kiles± jh±pit± mayha½…pe… kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti;
cha¼abhiñño pana hutv± t²ºi piµak±ni uggahetv± visesato vinayapiµake sukusalabh±va½ patv± dasavassiko parisupaµµh±ko ca hutv± bah³hi bhikkh³hi saddhi½ bhagavanta½ vanditu½ s±vatthi½ gacchanto antar±magge addh±naparissamavinodanattha½ titthiy±na½ ±r±ma½ pavisitv± ekamanta½ nisinno eka½ pañcatapa½ tapanta½ br±hmaºa½ disv±, “ki½, br±hmaºa, aññasmi½ tapan²ye añña½ tapat²”ti ±ha; ta½ sutv± br±hmaºo kupito, “bho, muº¹aka, ki½ añña½ tapan²yan”ti ±ha; thero tassa–

G±th±ya dhamma½ desesi. Ta½ sutv± so br±hmaºo tasmi½ titthiy±r±me sabbe aññatitthiy± ca therassa santike pabbaji½su. Thero tehi saddhi½ s±vatthi½ gantv± bhagavanta½ vanditv± katip±ha½ tattha vasitv± attano j±tibh³mi½yeva gato dassanattha½ upagatesu ñ±takesu n±n±laddhike yaññasuddhike ovadanto–

143. “Ye kho te veµhamissena, n±nattena ca kammun±;
manusse uparundhanti, pharus³pakkam± jan±;
tepi tattheva k²ranti, na hi kamma½ panassati.
144. “Ya½ karoti naro kamma½, kaly±ºa½ yadi p±paka½;
tassa tasseva d±y±do, ya½ ya½ kamma½ pakubbat²”ti.– G±th±dvaya½ abh±si.
Tattha yeti aniyamuddeso. Teti aniyamato eva paµiniddeso. Padadvayass±pi “jan±”ti imin± sambandho. Khoti nip±tamatta½. Veµhamissen±ti varattakhaº¹±din± s²s±d²su veµhad±nena. “Vedhamissen±”tipi p±¼i, so evattho. N±nattena ca kammun±ti hananagh±tanahatthap±d±dicchedanena khuddakase¼ad±n±din± ca n±n±vidhena par³pagh±takammena. Manusseti nidassanamatta½, tasm± ye keci satteti adhipp±yo. Uparundhant²ti vib±dhenti. Pharus³pakkam±ti d±ruºapayog±, kur³rakammant±ti attho. Jan±ti satt±. Tepi tattheva k²rant²ti te vuttappak±r± puggal± y±hi kammak±raº±hi aññe b±dhi½su. Tattheva t±suyeva k±raº±su sayampi k²ranti pakkhip²yanti, tath±r³pa½yeva dukkha½ anubhavant²ti attho. “Tatheva k²rant²”ti ca p±µho, yath± saya½ aññesa½ dukkha½ aka½su, tatheva aññehi kar²yanti, dukkha½ p±p²yant²ti attho, kasm±? Na hi kamma½ panassati kammañhi ekanta½ upacita½ vip±ka½ adatv± na vigacchati, avasesapaccayasamav±ye vipaccatev±ti adhipp±yo.
Id±ni “na hi kamma½ panassat²”ti saªkhepato vuttamattha½ vibhajitv± satt±na½ kammassakata½ vibh±vetu½ “ya½ karot²”ti g±tha½ abh±si. Tassattho ya½ kamma½ kaly±ºa½ kusala½, yadip±paka½ akusala½ satto karoti, karonto ca tattha ya½ kamma½ yath± phalad±nasamattha½ hoti, tath± pakubbati upacinoti. Tassa tasseva d±y±doti tassa tasseva kammaphalassa gaºhanato tena tena kammena d±tabbavip±kassa bh±g² hot²ti attho. Ten±ha bhagav±– “kammassak±, m±ºava, satt± kammad±y±d±”ti-±di (ma. ni. 3.289). Im± g±th± sutv± therassa ñ±tak± kammassakat±ya½ patiµµhahi½s³ti.
