So tena puññakammena devamanussesu sa½saranto imasmi½ buddhupp±de b±r±ºasiya½ khattiyakule nibbattitv± me¼ajinoti laddhan±mo vijj±sippesu nipphatti½ gato paº¹ito byatto dis±su p±kaµo ahosi. So bhagavati b±r±ºasiya½ isipatane viharante vih±ra½ gantv± satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± dhamma½ sutv± paµiladdhasaddho pabbajitv± vipassana½ paµµhapetv± tadaheva arahatta½ p±puºi. “Sahassara½s² bhagav±, sayambh³ apar±jito;
vivek± vuµµhahitv±na, gocar±y±bhinikkhami.
“Phalahattho aha½ disv±, upagacchi½ nar±sabha½;
pasannacitto sumano, avaµa½ adadi½ phala½.
“Catunnavutito kappe, ya½ phala½ adadi½ tad±;
duggati½ n±bhij±n±mi, phalad±nassida½ phala½.
“Kiles± jh±pit± mayha½…pe… kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti;
arahatta½ pana patv± aparabh±ge bhikkh³hi, “±vuso, ki½ tay± uttarimanussadhammo adhigato”ti puµµho s²han±da½ nadanto–

Tattha yad±ti yasmi½ k±le. Ahanti att±na½ niddisati. Dhammanti catusaccadhamma½. Assosinti suºi½. Satthunoti diµµhadhammik±di-atthehi veneyy±na½ s±sanaµµhena satthuno. Kaªkhanti sa½saya½. Saªkhatamasaªkhatañca anavasesato j±nanaµµhena sabbaññ³. Kutocipi par±jit± bh±vena apar±jite. Veneyyasatt±na½ sa½s±rakant±rato nibb±na½ paµiv±hanaµµhena satthav±he. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yato pabhuti aha½ satthuno dhamma½ desentassa catusaccadhamma½ assosi½ sotadv±r±nus±rena upadh±resi½ upalabhi½, tato paµµh±ya anavasesasaªkhat±saªkhatasammutidhamm±na½ sayambh³ñ±ºena j±nanato sabbaññ³ an±varaºadass±vimhi, pañcannampi m±r±na½ abhibhavanato tehi apar±jitatt± sadevake loke appaµihatadhammacakkatt± ca apar±jite, veneyyasatt±na½ lobhakant±r±dito v±hanaµµhena satthav±he, mah±vikkantat±ya mah±v²re, aññehi duddam±na½ purisadamm±na½ saraºato accantikena damathena damanato s±rath²na½ pavarabh³te uttame samm±sambuddhe “buddho nu kho no nu kho”ti kaªkha½ n±bhij±n±mi aparappaccayabh±vato.
