Tassuppatti– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± s±vatthiya½ viharati jetavane an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±me. Tena kho pana samayena ±yasmato s±riputtattherassa upaµµh±ko aññataro suvaººak±raputto therassa santike pabbajito. Thero tassa “dahar±na½ asubha½ sapp±yan”ti mantv± r±gavigh±tattha½ asubhakammaµµh±na½ ad±si. Tassa tasmi½ ±sevanamattampi citta½ na labhati. So “anupak±ra½ mametan”ti therassa ±rocesi. Thero “dahar±nameta½ sapp±yan”ti mantv± punapi tadev±cikkhi. Eva½ catt±ro m±s± at²t±, so kiñcimattampi visesa½ na labhati. Tato na½ thero bhagavato santika½ nesi. Tattha rañjanavasena r±go, pañcak±maguºar±gasseta½ adhivacana½. Udacchid±ti ucchindati, bhañjati vin±seti. At²tak±lik±nampi hi chandasi vattam±navacana½ akkharacintak± icchanti. Asesanti s±nusaya½. Bhisapuppha½va saroruhanti sare vir³¼ha½ padumapuppha½ viya. Vigayh±ti ogayha, pavisitv±ti attho. Sesa½ pubbasadisameva. Ki½ vutta½ hoti? Tattha tassat²ti taºh±. Visayehi titti½ na upet²ti attho. K±mabhavavibhavataºh±nameta½ adhivacana½. Saritanti gata½ pavatta½, y±va bhavagg± ajjhottharitv± µhitanti vutta½ hoti. S²ghasaranti s²ghag±mini½, sandiµµhikasampar±yika½ ±d²nava½ agaºetv± muhutteneva paracakkav±¼ampi bhavaggampi samp±puºitu½ samatthanti vutta½ hoti. Evameta½ sarita½ s²ghasara½ sabbappak±rampi taºha½–

4. Yo m±namudabbadh²ti k± uppatti? Bhagav± s±vatthiya½ viharati. Aññataro bhikkhu gaªg±ya t²re viharanto gimhak±le appodake sote kata½ na¼asetu½ pacch± ±gatena mahoghena vuyham±na½ disv± “anicc± saªkh±r±”ti sa½viggo aµµh±si. Tassajjh±saya½ viditv± bhagav± ima½ obh±sag±tha½ abh±si.
Tattha m±noti j±ti-±divatthuko cetaso uºº±mo. So “seyyohamasm²”ti m±no, “sadisohamasm²”ti m±no, “h²nohamasm²”ti m±noti eva½ tividho hoti. Puna “seyyassa seyyohamasm²ti, seyyassa sadiso, seyyassa h²no, sadisassa seyyo, sadisassa sadiso, sadisassa h²no, h²nassa seyyo, h²nassa sadiso, h²nassa h²nohamasm²”ti m±noti eva½ navavidho hoti. Tena kho pana samayena aññataro br±hmaºo attano dh²tuy± v±reyye paccupaµµhite cintesi– “kenaci vasalena aparibhuttapubbehi pupphehi d±rika½ alaªkaritv± patikula½ pesess±m²”ti. So santarab±hira½ s±vatthi½ vicinanto kiñci tiºapupphampi aparibhuttapubba½ n±ddasa. Atha sambahule dhuttakaj±tike br±hmaºad±rake sannipatite disv± “ete pucchiss±mi, avassa½ sambahulesu koci j±nissat²”ti upasaªkamitv± pucchi. Te ta½ br±hmaºa½ uppaº¹ent± ±ha½su– “udumbarapuppha½ n±ma, br±hmaºa, loke na kenaci paribhuttapubba½. Tena dh²tara½ alaªkaritv± deh²”ti. So dutiyadivase k±lasseva vuµµh±ya bhattavissagga½ katv± aciravatiy± nadiy± t²re udumbaravana½ gantv± ekameka½ rukkha½ vicinanto pupphassa vaºµamattampi n±ddasa. Atha v²tivatte majjhanhike dutiyat²ra½ agam±si. Tattha ca aññataro bhikkhu aññatarasmi½ manuññe rukkham³le div±vih±ra½ nisinno kammaµµh±na½ manasi karoti. So tattha upasaªkamitv± amanasikaritv±, saki½ nis²ditv±, saki½ ukkuµiko hutv±, saki½ µhatv±, ta½ rukkha½ sabbas±kh±viµapapattantaresu vicinanto kilamati. Tato na½ so bhikkhu ±ha– “br±hmaºa, ki½ maggas²”ti? “Udumbarapuppha½, bho”ti. “Udumbarapuppha½ n±ma, br±hmaºa, loke natthi, mus± eta½ vacana½, m± kilam±”ti. Atha bhagav± tassa bhikkhuno ajjh±saya½ viditv± obh±sa½ muñcitv± samuppannasamann±h±rabahum±nassa im± obh±sag±th±yo abh±si “yo n±jjhagam± bhavesu s±ran”ti sabb± vattabb±.
Tattha paµhamag±th±ya t±va n±jjhagam±ti n±dhigacchi, n±dhigacchati v±. Bhaves³ti k±mar³p±r³pasaññ²-asaññ²nevasaññ²n±saññ²-ekavok±racatuvok±rapañcavok±rabhavesu. S±ranti niccabh±va½ attabh±va½ v±. Vicinanti paññ±ya gavesanto. Pupphamiva udumbares³ti yath± udumbararukkhesu puppha½ vicinanto esa br±hmaºo n±jjhagam±, eva½ yo yog±vacaropi paññ±ya vicinanto sabbabhavesu kiñci s±ra½ n±jjhagam±. Yassa vitakk±ti ettha pana yassa bhikkhuno tayo k±maby±p±davihi½s±vitakk±, tayo ñ±tijanapad±maravitakk±, tayo par±nuddayat±paµisa½yuttal±bhasakk±rasiloka-anavaññattipaµisa½yuttavitakk±ti ete nava vitakk± samantabhaddake vuttanayena tattha tattha ±d²nava½ paccavekkhitv± paµipakkhavavatth±nena tassa tassa pah±nasamatthehi t²hi heµµhimamaggehi ca vidh³pit± bhusa½ dh³pit± sant±pit± da¹¹h±ti attho. Eva½ vidh³petv± ca ajjhatta½ suvikappit± ases±, niyakajjhattabh³te attano khandhasant±ne ajjhattajjhattabh³te citte ca yath± na puna sambhavanti, eva½ arahattamaggena ases± chinn±. Chinnañhi kappitanti vuccati. Yath±ha “kappitakesamass³”ti (sa½. ni. 1.122; 4.365). Evamettha attho daµµhabbo.

9. Tadanantarag±th±ya pana sabba½ vitathamidanti ñatv± loketi ayameva viseso. Tassattho– sabbanti anavasesa½, sakalaman³nanti vutta½ hoti. Eva½ santepi pana vipassanupaga½ lokiyakhandh±yatanadh±tuppabheda½ saªkhatameva idh±dhippeta½. Vitathanti vigatatathabh±va½. Niccanti v± sukhanti v± subhanti v± att±ti v± yath± yath± kilesavasena b±lajanehi gayhati, tath±tath±bh±vato vitathanti vutta½ hoti. Idanti tameva sabba½ paccakkhabh±vena dassento ±ha. Ñatv±ti maggapaññ±ya j±nitv±, tañca pana asammohato, na visayato. Loketi ok±saloke sabba½ khandh±dibheda½ dhammaj±ta½ “vitathamidan”ti ñatv±ti sambandho.
10-13. Id±ni ito par±su cat³su g±th±su v²talobho v²tar±go v²tadoso v²tamohoti ete vises±. Ettha lubbhanavasena lobho. Sabbasaªg±hikameta½ paµhamassa akusalam³lassa adhivacana½, visamalobhassa v±. Yo so “appekad± m±tumatt²supi lobhadhamm± uppajjanti, bhaginimatt²supi lobhadhamm± uppajjanti, dh²tumatt²supi lobhadhamm± uppajjant²”ti (sa½. ni. 4.127) eva½ vutto. Rajjanavasena r±go, pañcak±maguºar±gasseta½ adhivacana½. Dussanavasena doso, pubbe vuttakodhasseta½ adhivacana½. Muyhanavasena moho, cat³su ariyasaccesu aññ±ºasseta½ adhivacana½. 14. Aya½ panettha atthavaººan±– appah²naµµhena sant±ne sayant²ti anusay± k±mar±gapaµigham±nadiµµhivicikicch±bhavar±g±vijj±na½ eta½ adhivacana½. Aµµhakath±cariy± pana “seti nip±to”ti vaººayanti. Ya½ ruccati, ta½ gahetabba½. Ettha pana “kiñc±pi so eva½vidho bhikkhu kh²º±savo hoti, kh²º±savo ca neva ±diyati, na pajahati, pajahitv± µhito”ti vutto. Tath±pi vattam±nasam²pe vattam±navacanalakkhaºena “jah±ti orap±ran”ti vuccati. Tattha kilesapaµip±µiy± maggapaµip±µiy± c±ti dvidh± anusay±na½ abh±vo veditabbo. Kilesapaµip±µiy± hi k±mar±g±nusayapaµigh±nusay±na½ tatiyamaggena abh±vo hoti, m±n±nusayassa catutthamaggena, diµµh±nusayavicikicch±nusay±na½ paµhamamaggena, bhavar±g±nusay±vijj±nusay±na½ catutthamaggeneva. Maggapaµip±µiy± pana paµhamamaggena diµµh±nusayavicikicch±nusay±na½ abh±vo hoti. Dutiyamaggena k±mar±g±nusayapaµigh±nusay±na½ tanubh±vo, tatiyamaggena sabbaso abh±vo, catutthamaggena m±n±nusayabhavar±g±nusay±vijj±nusay±na½ abh±vo hoti. Tattha yasm± na sabbe anusay± akusalam³l±; k±mar±gabhavar±g±nusay± eva hi lobh±kusalam³lena saªgaha½ gacchanti. Paµigh±nusay±vijj±nusay± ca “doso akusalam³la½, moho akusalam³la½” icceva saªkha½ gacchanti, diµµhim±navicikicch±nusay± pana na kiñci akusalam³la½ honti, yasm± v± anusay±bh±vavasena ca akusalam³lasamuggh±tavasena ca kilesappah±na½ paµµhapesi, tasm±–

16. Yassa vanathaj±ti etthapi darathaj± viya vanathaj± veditabb±. Vacanatthe pana aya½ viseso– vanute, vanot²ti v± vana½ y±cati sevati bhajat²ti attho. Taºh±yeta½ adhivacana½. S± hi visay±na½ patthanato sevanato ca “vanan”ti vuccati. Ta½ pariyuµµh±navasena vana½ tharati tanot²ti vanatho, taºh±nusayasseta½ adhivacana½. Vanath± j±t±ti vanathaj±ti. Katha½kath±ya tiººatt± tiººakatha½katho. Vigatasallatt± visallo. Ki½ vutta½ hoti?
