8. Eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± s±vatthiya½ viharati jetavane an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±me. Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± saªg±maji s±vatthi½ anuppatto hoti bhagavanta½ dassan±ya. Assosi kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik±– “ayyo kira saªg±maji s±vatthi½ anuppatto”ti. S± d±raka½ ±d±ya jetavana½ agam±si.
Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± saªg±maji aññatarasmi½ rukkham³le div±vih±ra½ nisinno hoti. Atha kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik± yen±yasm± saªg±maji tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ saªg±maji½ etadavoca– “khuddaputtañhi [khuddaputt±mhi (s².)], samaºa, posa man”ti. Eva½ vutte, ±yasm± saªg±maji tuºh² ahosi.
Dutiyampi kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik± ±yasmanta½ saªg±maji½ etadavoca– “khuddaputtañhi, samaºa, posa man”ti. Dutiyampi kho ±yasm± saªg±maji tuºh² ahosi.
Tatiyampi kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik± ±yasmanta½ saªg±maji½ etadavoca– “khuddaputtañhi, samaºa, posa man”ti. Tatiyampi kho ±yasm± saªg±maji tuºh² ahosi.
Atha kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik± ta½ d±raka½ ±yasmato saªg±majissa purato nikkhipitv± pakk±mi [pakkami (ka.) evamuparipi] – “eso [esa (s². ka.)] te, samaºa, putto; posa nan”ti.
Atha kho ±yasm± saªg±maji ta½ d±raka½ neva olokesi n±pi ±lapi. Atha kho ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik± avid³ra½ [avid³re (sy±. p².)] gantv± apalokent² addasa ±yasmanta½ saªg±maji½ ta½ d±raka½ neva olokenta½ n±pi ±lapanta½, disv±nass± etadahosi– “na c±ya½ samaºo puttenapi atthiko”ti. Tato paµinivattitv± d±raka½ ±d±ya pakk±mi. Addas± kho bhagav± dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena ±yasmato saªg±majissa pur±ºadutiyik±ya evar³pa½ vippak±ra½.
Atha kho bhagav± etamattha½ viditv± t±ya½ vel±ya½ ima½ ud±na½ ud±nesi–
“¾yanti½ n±bhinandati, pakkamanti½ na socati;
saªg± saªg±maji½ mutta½, tamaha½ br³mi br±hmaºan”ti. Aµµhama½.
