1. R±dhattheravatthu

Nidh²na½va pavatt±ranti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto ±yasmanta½ r±dhatthera½ ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira gihik±le s±vatthiya½ duggatabr±hmaºo ahosi. So “bhikkh³na½ santike j²viss±m²”ti cintetv± vih±ra½ gantv± appaharitaka½ karonto pariveºa½ sammajjanto mukhadhovan±d²ni dadanto antovih±reyeva vasi. Bhikkh³pi na½ saªgaºhi½su, pabb±jetu½ pana na icchanti. So pabbajja½ alabham±no kiso ahosi. Athekadivasa½ satth± pacc³sak±le loka½ volokento ta½ br±hmaºa½ disv± “ki½ nu kho”ti upadh±rento “arah± bhavissat²”ti ñatv± s±yanhasamaye vih±rac±rika½ caranto viya br±hmaºassa santika½ gantv±, “br±hmaºa, ki½ karonto vicaras²”ti ±ha. “Bhikkh³na½ vattapaµivatta½ karonto, bhante”ti “Labhasi nesa½ santik± saªgahan”ti? “¾ma, bhante, ±h±ramatta½ labh±mi, na pana ma½ pabb±jent²”ti. Satth± etasmi½ nid±ne bhikkhusaªgha½ sannip±t±petv± tamattha½ pucchitv±, “bhikkhave, atthi koci imassa br±hmaºassa adhik±ra½ sarat²”ti pucchi. S±riputtatthero “aha½, bhante, sar±mi, aya½ me r±jagahe piº¹±ya carantassa attano abhihaµa½ kaµacchubhikkha½ d±pesi, imamass±ha½ adhik±ra½ sar±m²”ti ±ha. So satth±r± “ki½ pana te, s±riputta, eva½ kat³pak±ra½ dukkhato mocetu½ na vaµµat²”ti vutte, “s±dhu, bhante, pabb±jess±m²”ti ta½ br±hmaºa½ pabb±jesi. Tassa bhattagge ±sanapariyante ±sana½ p±puº±ti, y±gubhatt±d²hipi kilamati. Thero ta½ ±d±ya c±rika½ pakk±mi, abhikkhaºañca na½ “ida½ te kattabba½, ida½ te na kattabban”ti ovadi anus±si. So suvaco ahosi padakkhiºagg±h². Tasm± yath±nusiµµha½ paµipajjam±no katip±heneva arahatta½ p±puºi.
Thero ta½ ±d±ya satthu santika½ gantv± vanditv± nis²di. Atha na½ satth± paµisanth±ra½ katv± ±ha– “suvaco nu kho, s±riputta, te antev±siko”ti “¾ma, bhante, ativiya suvaco, kismiñci dose vuccam±ne na kuddhapubbo”ti. “S±riputta evar³pe saddhivih±rike labhanto kittake gaºheyy±s²”ti? “Bhante, bahukepi gaºheyyamev±”ti. Athekadivasa½ dhammasabh±ya katha½ samuµµh±pesu½– “s±riputtatthero kira kataññ³ kataved², kaµacchubhikkh±matta½ upak±ra½ saritv± duggatabr±hmaºa½ pabb±jesi. Theropi ov±dakkhamo ov±dakkhamameva labh²”ti. Satth± tesa½ katha½ sutv± “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi s±riputto kataññ³ kataved²yev±”ti vatv± tamattha½ pak±setu½–
“Al²nacitta½ niss±ya, pahaµµh± mahat² cam³;
kosala½ sen±santuµµha½, j²vagg±ha½ ag±hayi.
“Eva½ nissayasampanno, bhikkhu ±raddhav²riyo;
bh±vaya½ kusala½ dhamma½, yogakkhemassa pattiy±;
p±puºe anupubbena, sabbasa½yojanakkhayan”ti. (J±. 1.2.11-12)–

Ima½ dukanip±te al²nacittaj±taka½ vitth±retv± kathesi. Tad± kira va¹¹hak²hi p±dassa arogakaraºabh±vena kaha½ attano upak±ra½ ñatv± sabbasetassa hatthipotakassa d±yako ekac±riko hatth² s±riputtatthero ahos²ti eva½ thera½ ±rabbha j±taka½ kathetv± r±dhatthera½ ±rabbha, “bhikkhave, bhikkhun± n±ma r±dhena viya suvacena bhavitabba½, dosa½ dassetv± ovadiyam±nenapi na kujjhitabba½, ov±dad±yako pana nidhi-±cikkhaºako viya daµµhabbo”ti vatv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–

76. “Nidh²na½va pavatt±ra½, ya½ passe vajjadassina½;
niggayhav±di½ medh±vi½, t±disa½ paº¹ita½ bhaje;
t±disa½ bhajam±nassa, seyyo hoti na p±piyo”ti.
Tattha nidh²nanti tattha tattha nidahitv± µhapit±na½ hiraññasuvaºº±dip³r±na½ nidhikumbh²na½. Pavatt±ranti kicchaj²vike duggatamanusse anukampa½ katv± “ehi, sukhena j²van³p±ya½ dassess±m²”ti nidhiµµh±na½ netv± hattha½ pas±retv± “ima½ gahetv± sukhena j²v±”ti ±cikkhit±ra½ viya. Vajjadassinanti dve vajjadassino “imin± na½ as±ruppena v± khalitena v± saªghamajjhe niggaºhiss±m²”ti randhagavesako ca, aññ±ta½ ñ±panatth±ya ñ±ta½ anuggahaºatth±ya s²l±d²namassa vuddhik±mat±ya ta½ ta½ vajja½ olokanena ullumpanasabh±vasaºµhito ca. Aya½ idha adhippeto. Yath± hi duggatamanusso “ima½ gaºh±h²”ti tajjetv±pi pothetv±pi nidhi½ dassente kopa½ na karoti, pamudito eva hoti, evameva evar³pe puggale as±ruppa½ v± khalita½ v± disv± ±cikkhante kopo na k±tabbo, tuµµheneva bhavitabba½, “bhante, mahanta½ vo kamma½ kata½ mayha½ ±cariyupajjh±yaµµh±ne µhatv± ovadantehi punapi ma½ vadeyy±th±”ti pav±retabbameva. Niggayhav±dinti ekacco hi saddhivih±rik±d²na½ as±ruppa½ v± khalita½ v± disv± “aya½ me mukhodakad±n±d²hi sakkacca½ upaµµhahati, sace na½ vakkh±mi, na ma½ upaµµhahissati, eva½ me parih±ni bhavissat²”ti vatthu½ avisahanto na niggayhav±d² n±ma hoti. So imasmi½ s±sane kacavara½ ±kirati. Yo pana tath±r³pa½ vajja½ disv± vajj±nur³pa½ tajjento paº±mento daº¹akamma½ karonto vih±r± ta½ n²haranto sikkh±peti, aya½ niggayhav±d² n±ma seyyath±pi samm±sambuddho. Vuttañheta½– “niggayha niggayh±ha½, ±nanda, vakkh±mi, pavayha pavayha, ±nanda, vakkh±mi, yo s±ro so µhassat²”ti (ma. ni. 3.196). Medh±vinti dhammojapaññ±ya samann±gata½. T±disanti evar³pa½ paº¹ita½ bhajeyya payirup±seyya. T±disañhi ±cariya½ bhajam±nassa antev±sikassa seyyo hoti, na p±piyo va¹¹hiyeva hoti, no parih±n²ti.
