Na hi p±pa½ kata½ kammanti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± ve¼uvane viharanto aññatara½ ahipeta½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Ekasmiñhi divase jaµilasahassassa abbhantaro ±yasm± lakkhaºatthero ca mah±moggall±natthero ca “r±jagahe piº¹±ya cariss±m±”ti gijjhak³µato otaranti. Tesu ±yasm± mah±moggall±natthero eka½ ahipeta½ disv± sita½ p±tv±k±si. Atha na½ lakkhaºatthero “kasm±, ±vuso, sita½ p±tukaros²”ti sitak±raºa½ pucchi. “Ak±lo, ±vuso lakkhaºa, imassa pañhassa, bhagavato santike ma½ puccheyy±s²”ti thero ±ha. Tesu r±jagahe piº¹±ya caritv± bhagavato santika½ gantv± nisinnesu lakkhaºatthero pucchi, “±vuso, moggall±na½ tva½ gijjhak³µ± otaranto sita½ p±tukaritv± may± sitak±raºa½ puµµho ‘bhagavato santike ma½ puccheyy±s²’ti avaca, kathehi id±ni ta½ k±raºan”ti. Thero ±ha– “aha½, ±vuso, eka½ peta½ disv± sita½ p±tv±k±si½. Tassa evar³po attabh±vo– manussas²sa½ viya assa s²sa½, ahissa viya seso attabh±vo, ahipeto n±mesa pam±ºato pañcav²satiyojaniko, tassa s²sato uµµhit± aggij±l± y±va naªguµµh± gacchanti, naªguµµhato uµµhit± aggij±l± y±va s²s±, majjhes²sato uµµhit± dve pass±ni gacchanti, dv²hi passehi uµµhit± majjhe otarant²”ti Dvinna½yeva kira pet±na½ attabh±vo pañcav²satiyojaniko, avases±na½ tig±vutappam±ºo. Imassa ceva ahipetassa k±kapetassa ca pañcav²satiyojaniko. Tesu aya½ t±va ahipeto. K±kapetampi mah±moggall±no gijjhak³µamatthake paccam±na½ disv± tassa pubbakamma½ pucchanto ima½ g±tham±ha–
“Pañcayojanik± jivh±, s²sa½ te navayojana½;
k±yo accuggato tuyha½, pañcav²satiyojana½;
ki½ nu kamma½ karitv±na, pattosi dukkham²disan”ti.
Athassa peto ±cikkhanto–
“Aha½ bhante moggall±na, kassapassa mahesino;
saªghassa ±bhata½ bhatta½, ±h±resi½ yadicchakan”ti.–

G±tha½ vatv± ±ha– “bhante, kassapabuddhak±le sambahul± bhikkh³ g±ma½ piº¹±ya pavisi½su,. Ta½ pana bhatta½ neva saªghassa santaka½, na saªghassa niyametv± dinna½, na bhikkh³hi gahit±vasesaka½. Attano attano geha½ netv± manussehi bhuñjitabbaka½, kevala½ saªgha½ uddissa abhihaµamattameva. Tato may± tayo kaba¼± gahit±, ettaka½ me pubbakamma½. Sv±ha½ k±la½ katv± tassa kammassa vip±kena av²cimhi paccitv± tattha pakk±vasesena id±ni gijjhak³µe k±kapeto hutv± nibbatto ima½ dukkha½ pacc±nubhom²”ti. Ida½ k±kapetassa vatthu.

Idha pana thero “ahipeta½ disv± sita½ p±tv±k±sin”ti ±ha. Athassa satth± sakkh² hutv±pi uµµh±ya “sacca½, bhikkhave, moggall±no ±ha. May±pesa sambodhipattadivaseyeva diµµho, apic±ha½ ‘ye me vacana½ na saddaheyyu½, tesa½ ahit±ya bhaveyy±’ti par±nudday±ya na kathesin”ti ±ha. Lakkhaºasa½yuttepi (sa½. ni. 2.202 ±dayo) hi mah±moggall±nena diµµhak±leyeva satth± tassa sakkh² hutv± vin²tavatth³ni kathesi, idampi tena tatheva kathita½. Ta½ sutv± bhikkh³ tassa pubbakamma½ pucchi½su. Satth±pi tesa½ kathesi–
At²te kira b±r±ºasi½ niss±ya nad²t²re paccekabuddhassa paººas±la½ kari½su. So tattha viharanto nibaddha½ nagare piº¹±ya carati. N±gar±pi s±ya½p±ta½ gandhapupph±dihatth± paccekabuddhass³paµµh±na½ gacchanti. Eko b±r±ºasiv±s² puriso ta½ magga½ niss±ya khetta½ kasi. Mah±jano s±ya½p±ta½ paccekabuddhass³paµµh±na½ gacchanto ta½ khetta½ maddanto gacchati. Kassako ca “m± me khetta½ maddath±”ti v±rentopi v±retu½ n±sakkhi. Athassa etadahosi– “sace imasmi½ µh±ne paccekabuddhassa paººas±l± na bhaveyya, na me khetta½ maddeyyun”ti. So paccekabuddhassa piº¹±ya paviµµhak±le paribhogabh±jan±ni bhinditv± paººas±la½ jh±pesi. Paccekabuddho ta½ jh±ma½ disv± yath±sukha½ pakk±mi. Mah±jano gandham±la½ ±d±ya ±gato jh±mapaººas±la½ disv± “kaha½ nu kho no ayyo gato”ti ±ha. Sopi mah±janeneva saddhi½ gato mah±janamajjhe µhitakova evam±ha– “may± tassa paººas±l± jh±pit±”ti. Atha na½ “gaºhatha, ima½ p±pima½ niss±ya maya½ paccekabuddha½ daµµhu½ na labhimh±”ti daº¹±d²hi pothetv± j²vitakkhaya½ p±pesu½. So av²cimhi nibbattitv± y±v±ya½ mah±pathav² yojanamatta½ ussann±, t±va niraye paccitv± pakk±vasesena gijjhak³µe ahipeto hutv± nibbatti. Satth± ida½ tassa pubbakamma½ kathetv±, “bhikkhave, p±pakamma½ n±meta½ kh²rasadisa½, yath± kh²ra½ duyham±nameva na pariºamati. Tath± kamma½ kayiram±nameva na vipaccati. Yad± pana vipaccati, tad± evar³pena dukkhena socat²”ti anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–
71. “Na hi p±pa½ kata½ kamma½, sajjukh²ra½va muccati;
¹ahanta½ b±lamanveti, bhasmacchannova p±vako”ti.
Tattha sajjukh²ra½ v±ti ta½ khaºa½yeva dhenuy± thanehi nikkhanta½ abbhuºha½ kh²ra½ na muccati na pariºamati. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yath± ida½ sajjukh²ra½ ta½ khaºaññeva na muccati na pariºamati na pakati½ vijahati. Yasmi½ pana bh±jane duhitv± gahita½ y±va tattha takk±di-ambila½ na pakkhipati, y±va dadhibh±jan±dika½ ambilabh±jana½ na p±puº±ti, t±va pakati½ avijahitv± pacch± jahati, evameva p±pakammampi kariyam±nameva na vipaccati. Yadi vipacceyya, na koci p±pakamma½ k±tu½ visaheyya. Y±va pana kusal±bhinibbatt± khandh± dharanti, t±va na½ te rakkhanti. Tesa½ bhed± ap±ye nibbattakkhandhesu vipaccati, vipaccam±nañca ¹ahanta½ b±lamanveti.“Ki½ viy±”ti? “Bhasmacchannova p±vako”ti. Yath± hi ch±rik±ya paµicchanno v²taccitaªg±ro akkantopi ch±rik±ya paµicchannatt± na t±va ¹ahati, ch±rika½ pana t±petv± camm±d²na½ ¹ahanavasena y±va matthaluªg± ¹ahanto gacchati, evameva p±pakammampi yena kata½ hoti, ta½ b±la½ dutiye v± tatiye v± attabh±ve niray±d²su nibbatta½ ¹ahanta½ anugacchat²ti.
Desan±vas±ne bah³ sot±pann±dayo ahesunti.
