Samm±sambuddhe s±vatthiya½ viharante soreyyanagare soreyyaseµµhiputto ekena sah±yakena saddhi½ sukhay±nake nis²ditv± mahantena pariv±rena nh±natth±ya nagar± nikkhami. Tasmi½ khaºe mah±kacc±yanatthero soreyyanagara½ piº¹±ya pavisituk±mo hutv± bahinagare saªgh±µi½ p±rupati. Therassa ca suvaººavaººa½ sar²ra½. Soreyyaseµµhiputto ta½ disv± cintesi– “aho vata aya½ v± thero mama bhariy± bhaveyya, mama v± bhariy±ya sar²ravaººo etassa sar²ravaººo viya bhaveyy±”ti.
