Eko kira s±vatthiv±s² kulaputto satthu santike dhamma½ sutv± s±sane ura½ datv± pabbajito, so laddh³pasampado tissatthero n±ma ahosi. Gacchante gacchante k±le tassa sar²re rogo udap±di. S±sapamattiyo pi¼ak± uµµhahi½su. T± anupubbena muggamatt± kal±yamatt± kolaµµhimatt± ±malakamatt± be¼uvasal±µumatt± be¼uvamatt± hutv± pabhijji½su, sakalasar²ra½ chidd±vachidda½ ahosi. P³tigattatissattherotvevassa n±ma½ udap±di. Athassa aparabh±ge aµµh²ni bhijji½su. So appaµijaggiyo ahosi. Niv±sanap±rupana½ pubbalohitamakkhita½ j±lap³vasadisa½ ahosi. Saddhivih±rik±dayo paµijaggitu½ asakkont± cha¹¹ayi½su. So an±tho hutv± nipajji.
Buddh±nañca n±ma dve v±re lokavolokana½ avijahita½ hoti. Pacc³sak±le loka½ volokent± cakkav±¼amukhavaµµito paµµh±ya gandhakuµi-abhimukha½ ñ±ºa½ katv± olokenti, s±ya½ olokent± gandhakuµito paµµh±ya b±hir±bhimukha½ ñ±ºa½ katv± olokenti. Tasmi½ pana samaye bhagavato ñ±ºaj±lassa anto p³tigattatissatthero paññ±yi. Satth± tassa bhikkhuno arahattassa upanissaya½ disv±, “aya½ saddhivih±rik±d²hi cha¹¹ito, id±nissa ma½ µhapetv± añña½ paµisaraºa½ natth²”ti gandhakuµito nikkhamitv± vih±rac±rika½ caram±no viya aggis±la½ gantv± ukkhali½ dhovitv± udaka½ datv± uddhana½ ±ropetv± udakassa tattabh±va½ ±gamayam±no aggis±l±yameva aµµh±si. Tattabh±va½ j±nitv± gantv± tassa bhikkhuno nipannamañcakoµiya½ gaºhi, tad± bhikkh³ “apetha, bhante, maya½ gaºhiss±m±”ti mañcaka½ gahetv± aggis±la½ ±nayi½su. Satth± ambaºa½ ±har±petv± uºhodaka½ ±siñcitv± tehi bhikkh³hi tassa p±rupana½ g±h±petv± uºhodake madd±petv± mand±tape vissajj±pesi. Athassa santike µhatv± sar²ra½ uºhodakena temetv± gha½sitv± nh±pesi, tassa nah±napariyos±ne p±rupana½ sukkhi. Atha na½ ta½ niv±s±petv± nivatthak±s±va½ udake madd±petv± ±tape vissajj±pesi. Athassa gatte udake chinnamatte tampi sukkhi. So eka½ k±s±va½ niv±setv± eka½ p±rupitv± sallahukasar²ro ekaggacitto mañcake nipajji. Satth± tassa uss²sake µhatv±, “bhikkhu aya½ tava k±yo apetaviññ±ºo nirupak±ro hutv± kaliªgara½ viya pathaviya½ sessat²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
41. “Acira½ vataya½ k±yo, pathavi½ adhisessati;
chuddho apetaviññ±ºo, nirattha½va kaliªgaran”ti.
Tattha acira½ vat±ti bhikkhu na cirasseva aya½ k±yo pathavi½ adhisessati, imiss± pakatisayanena sayit±ya pathaviy± upari sayissati Chuddhoti apaviddho, apagataviññ±ºat±ya tuccho hutv± sessat²ti dasseti. Yath± ki½? Nirattha½va kaliªgara½ nirupak±ra½ niratthaka½ kaµµhakhaº¹a½ viya. Dabbasambh±ratthik± hi manuss± arañña½ pavisitv± ujuka½ ujukasaºµh±nena vaªka½ vaªkasaºµh±nena chinditv± dabbasambh±ra½ gaºhanti, avasesa½ pana susirañca p³tikañca as±rakañca gaºµhij±tañca chinditv± tattheva cha¹¹enti. Aññe dabbasambh±ratthik± ±gantv± ta½ gahet±ro n±ma natthi, oloketv± attano upak±rakameva gaºhanti, itara½ pathav²gatameva hoti. Ta½ pana tena tena up±yena mañcapaµip±daka½ v± p±dakathalika½ v± phalakap²µha½ v± k±tu½ sakk±pi bhaveyya. Imasmi½ pana attabh±ve dvatti½s±ya koµµh±sesu ekakoµµh±sopi mañcapaµip±dak±divasena aññena v± upak±ramukhena gayh³pago n±ma natthi, kevala½ nirattha½va kaliªgara½ aya½ k±yo apagataviññ±ºo katip±heneva pathaviya½ sessat²ti.
Desan±vas±ne p³tigattatissatthero saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ p±puºi, aññepi bah³ sot±pann±dayo ahesu½. Theropi arahatta½ patv±va parinibb±yi. Satth± tassa sar²rakicca½ k±r±petv± dh±tuyo gahetv± cetiya½ k±r±pesi. Bhikkh³ satth±ra½ pucchi½su– “bhante, p³tigattatissatthero kuhi½ nibbatto”ti. “Parinibbuto, bhikkhave”ti. “Bhante, evar³passa pana arahatt³panissayasampannassa bhikkhuno ki½ k±raº± gatta½ putika½ j±ta½, ki½ k±raº± aµµh²ni bhinn±ni, kimassa k±raºa½ arahattassa upanissayabh±va½ pattan”ti? “Bhikkhave, sabbameta½ etassa attan± katakammeneva nibbattan”ti. “Ki½ pana tena, bhante, katan”ti? “Tena hi, bhikkhave, suº±th±”ti at²ta½ ±hari–
Aya½ kassapasamm±sambuddhak±le s±kuºiko hutv± bah³ sakuºe vadhitv± issarajana½ upaµµhahi. Tesa½ dinn±vasese vikkiº±ti, “vikkit±vases± m±retv± µhapit± p³tik± bhavissant²”ti yath± uppatitu½ na sakkonti, tath± tesa½ jaªghaµµh²ni ca pakkhaµµh²ni ca bhinditv± r±si½ katv± µhapeti, te punadivase vikkiº±ti. Atibah³na½ pana laddhak±le attanopi atth±ya pac±peti. Tassekadivasa½ rasabhojane pakke eko kh²º±savo piº¹±ya caranto gehadv±re aµµh±si. So thera½ disv± citta½ pas±detv±, “may± bah³ p±º± m±retv± kh±dit±, ayyo ca me gehadv±re µhito, antogehe ca rasabhojana½ sa½vijjati, piº¹ap±tamassa dass±m²”ti tassa patta½ ±d±ya p³retv± rasapiº¹ap±ta½ datv± thera½ pañcapatiµµhitena vanditv±, “bhante, tumhehi diµµhadhammassa matthaka½ p±puºeyyan”ti ±ha. Thero “eva½ hot³”ti anumodana½ ak±si. “Bhikkhave, tad± katakammavaseneta½ tissassa nipphanna½, sakuº±na½ aµµhibhedananissandena tissassa gattañca p³tika½ j±ta½, aµµh²ni ca bhinn±ni, kh²º±savassa rasapiº¹ap±tad±nanissandena arahatta½ patto”ti.
