Anavaµµhitacittass±ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± s±vatthiya½ viharanto cittahatthatthera½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Eko kira s±vatthiv±s² kulaputto naµµhagoºa½ pariyesanto arañña½ pavisitv± majjhanhike k±le goºa½ disv± goy³the vissajjetv±, “avassa½ ayy±na½ santike ±h±ramatta½ labhiss±m²”ti khuppip±s±p²¼ito vih±ra½ pavisitv± bhikkh³na½ santika½ gantv± vanditv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Tasmi½ kho pana samaye bhikkh³na½ avakk±rap±tiya½ bhutt±vasesaka½ bhatta½ hoti, te ta½ ch±takap²¼ita½ disv±, “ito bhatta½ gahetv± bhuñj±h²”ti vadi½su. Buddhak±le ca pana anekas³pabyañjana½ bhatta½ uppajjati, so tato y±panamatta½ gahetv± bhuñjitv± p±n²ya½ pivitv± hatthe dhovitv± bhikkh³ vanditv±, “ki½, bhante, ajja, ayy±, nimantanaµµh±na½ agama½s³”ti pucchi. “Natthi, up±saka, bhikkh³ imin±va n²h±rena nibaddha½ labhant²”ti. So “maya½ uµµh±ya samuµµh±ya rattindiva½ nibaddha½ kamma½ karont±pi eva½ madhurabyañjana½ bhatta½ na labh±ma, ime kira nibaddha½ bhuñjanti, ki½ me gihibh±vena, bhikkhu bhaviss±m²”ti cintetv± bhikkh³ upasaªkamitv± pabbajja½ y±ci. Atha na½ bhikkh³ “s±dhu up±sak±”ti pabb±jesu½.
So laddh³pasampado sabbappak±ra½ vattapaµivatta½ ak±si. So buddh±na½ uppannena l±bhasakk±rena katip±haccayena th³lasar²ro ahosi. Tato cintesi– “ki½ me bhikkh±ya caritv± j²vitena, gih² bhaviss±m²”ti. So vibbhamitv± geha½ p±visi. Tassa gehe kamma½ karontassa katip±heneva sar²ra½ mil±yi. Tato “ki½ me imin± dukkhena, samaºo bhaviss±m²”ti cintetv± puna gantv± pabbaji. So katip±ha½ v²tin±metv± puna ukkaºµhitv± vibbhami, pabbajitak±le pana bhikkh³na½ upak±rako hoti. So katip±heneva punapi ukkaºµhitv±, “ki½ me gihibh±vena, pabbajiss±m²”ti gantv± bhikkh³ vanditv± pabbajja½ y±ci. Atha na½ bhikkh³ upak±ravasena puna pabb±jayi½su. Eva½ so imin± niy±meneva chakkhattu½ pabbajitv± uppabbajito. Tassa bhikkh³ “esa cittavasiko hutv± vicarat²”ti cittahatthattheroti n±ma½ kari½su.
Tasseva½ apar±para½ vicarantasseva bhariy± gabbhin² ahosi. So sattame v±re araññato kasibhaº¹am±d±ya geha½ gantv± bhaº¹aka½ µhapetv± “attano k±s±va½ gaºhiss±m²”ti gabbha½ p±visi Tasmi½ khaºe tassa bhariy± nipajjitv± nidd±yati. Tass± nivatthas±µako apagato hoti, mukhato ca l±l± paggharati, n±s± ghuraghur±yati, mukha½ vivaµµa½, danta½ gha½sati, s± tassa uddhum±takasar²ra½ viya upaµµh±si. So “anicca½ dukkha½ idan”ti sañña½ labhitv±, “aha½ ettaka½ k±la½ pabbajitv± ima½ niss±ya bhikkhubh±ve saºµh±tu½ n±sakkhin”ti k±s±yakoµiya½ gahetv± udare bandhitv± geh± nikkhami.
Athassa anantaragehe µhit± sassu ta½ tath± gacchanta½ disv±, “aya½ paµi-ukkaºµhito bhavissati, id±neva araññato ±gantv± k±s±va½ udare bandhitv±va geh± nikkhanto vih±r±bhimukho gacchati, ki½ nu kho”ti geha½ pavisitv± nidd±yam±na½ dh²tara½ passitv± “ima½ disv± so vippaµis±r² hutv± gato”ti ñatv± dh²tara½ paharitv± “uµµhehi k±¼akaººi, s±miko te ta½ nidd±yam±na½ disv± vippaµis±r² hutv± gato, natthi so ito paµµh±ya tuyhan”ti ±ha. “Apehi apehi, amma, kuto tassa gamana½ atthi, katip±heneva pun±gamissat²”ti ±ha. Sopi “anicca½ dukkhan”ti vatv± gacchanto gacchantova sot±pattiphala½ p±puºi. So gantv± bhikkh³ vanditv± pabbajja½ y±ci. “Na sakkhiss±ma ma½ya½ ta½ pabb±jetu½, kuto tuyha½ samaºabh±vo, satthakanis±nap±s±ºasadisa½ tava s²san”ti. “Bhante, id±ni ma½ anukamp±ya ekav±ra½ pabb±jeth±”ti. Te ta½ upak±ravasena pabb±jayi½su. So katip±heneva saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ p±puºi.
Tepi na½ ±ha½su– “±vuso cittahattha, tava gamanasamaya½ tvameva j±neyy±si, imasmi½ v±re te cir±yitan”ti. “Bhante, sa½saggassa atthibh±vak±le gatamh±, so no sa½saggo chinno, id±ni agamanadhamm± j±tamh±”ti. Bhikkh³ satthu santika½ gantv±, “bhante, aya½ bhikkhu amhehi eva½ vutto eva½ n±ma kathesi, añña½ by±karoti, abh³ta½ vadat²”ti ±ha½su. Satth± “±ma, bhikkhave, mama putto attano anavaµµhitacittak±le saddhamma½ aj±nanak±le gaman±gamana½ ak±si, id±nissa puññañca p±pañca pah²nan”ti vatv± im± dve g±th± ±ha–

puññap±papah²nassa, natthi j±garato bhayan”ti.
Tattha anavaµµhitacittass±ti citta½ n±meta½ kassaci nibaddha½ v± th±vara½ v± natthi. Yo pana puggalo assapiµµhe µhapitakumbhaº¹a½ viya ca thusar±simhi koµµitakh±ºuko viya ca khall±µas²se µhapitakadambapuppha½ viya ca na katthaci saºµh±ti, kad±ci buddhas±vako hoti, kad±ci ±j²vako, kad±ci nigaºµho, kad±ci t±paso. Evar³po puggalo anavaµµhitacitto n±ma. Tassa anavaµµhitacittassa. Saddhamma½ avij±natoti sattati½sabodhipakkhiyadhammabheda½ ima½ saddhamma½ avij±nantassa parittasaddhat±ya v± uplavasaddhat±ya v± pariplavapas±dassa k±m±vacarar³p±vacar±dibhed± paññ± na parip³rati. K±m±vacar±yapi aparip³rayam±n±ya kutova r³p±vacar±r³p±vacaralokuttarapaññ± parip³rissat²ti d²peti. Anavassutacittass±ti r±gena atintacittassa. Ananv±hatacetasoti “±hatacitto khilaj±to”ti (d². ni. 3.319; vibha. 941; ma. ni. 1.185) ±gataµµh±ne dosena cittassa pahatabh±vo vutto, idha pana dosena appaµihatacittass±ti attho. Puññap±papah²nass±ti catutthamaggena pah²napuññassa ceva pah²nap±passa ca kh²º±savassa. Natthi j±garato bhayanti kh²º±savassa j±garantasseva abhayabh±vo kathito viya. So pana saddh±d²hi pañcahi j±garadhammehi samann±gatatt± j±garo n±ma. Tasm± tassa j±garantass±pi aj±garantass±pi kilesabhaya½ natthi kiles±na½ apacch±vattanato. Na hi ta½ kiles± anubandhanti tena tena maggena pah²n±na½ kiles±na½ puna anupagamanato. Tenev±ha– “sot±pattimaggena ye kiles± pah²n±, te kilese na puneti na pacceti na pacc±gacchati, sakad±g±mi-an±g±mi-arahattamaggena ye kiles± pah²n±, te kilese na puneti na pacceti na pacc±gacchat²”ti (c³¼ani. mettag³m±ºavapucch±niddesa 27).

Satth± tesa½ ta½ kath±pavatti½ sutv± taªkhaº±nur³pena gamanena dhammasabha½ gantv± buddh±sane nisinno “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv±, “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte evameva, bhikkhave, kiles± n±ma bh±riy±, sace ete r³pino hutv± katthaci pakkhipitu½ sakk± bhaveyyu½, cakkav±¼a½ atisamb±dha½, brahmaloko atin²cakoti ok±so nesa½ na bhaveyya, m±disampi n±mete paññ±sampanna½ puris±j±neyya½ ±lo¼enti, avasesesu k± kath±? “Ahañhi a¹¹han±¼imatta½ varakacoraka½ kuºµhakud±lañca niss±ya cha v±re pabbajitv± uppabbajitapubbo”ti. “Kad±, bhante, kad± sugat±”ti? “Suºissatha, bhikkhave”ti. “¾ma, bhante”ti. “Tena hi suº±th±”ti at²ta½ ±hari–
At²te b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadatte rajja½ k±rente kud±lapaº¹ito n±ma b±hirakapabbajja½ pabbajitv± aµµha m±se himavante vasitv± vass±rattasamaye bh³miy± tint±ya “gehe me a¹¹han±¼imatto varakacorako ca kuºµhakud±lako ca atthi, varakacorakab²ja½ m± nass²”ti uppabbajitv± eka½ µh±na½ kud±lena kasitv± ta½ b²ja½ vapitv± vati½ katv± pakkak±le uddharitv± n±¼imattab²ja½ µhapetv± sesa½ kh±di. So “ki½ me d±ni gehena, puna aµµha m±se pabbajiss±m²”ti cintetv± nikkhamitv± pabbaji. Imin±va n²h±rena n±¼imatta½ varakacorakañca kuºµhakud±lañca niss±ya sattav±re gih² hutv± sattav±re pabbajitv± sattame pana v±re cintesi– “aha½ cha v±re ima½ kuºµhakud±la½ niss±ya gih² hutv± pabbajito, katthacideva na½ cha¹¹ess±m²”ti. So gaªg±ya t²ra½ gantv±, “patitaµµh±na½ passanto otaritv± gaºheyya½, yath±ssa patitaµµh±na½ na pass±mi, tath± na½ cha¹¹ess±m²”ti cintetv± n±¼imatta½ b²ja½ pilotik±ya bandhitv± pilotika½ kud±laphalake bandhitv± kud±la½ aggadaº¹ake gahetv± gaªg±ya t²re µhito akkh²ni nim²letv± uparis²se tikkhattu½ ±vijjhitv± gaªg±ya½ khipitv± nivattitv± olokento patitaµµh±na½ adisv± “jita½ me, jita½ me”ti tikkhattu½ saddamak±si.
Tasmi½ khaºe b±r±ºasir±j± paccanta½ v³pasametv± ±gantv± nad²t²re khandh±v±ra½ niv±setv± nh±natth±ya nadi½ otiººo ta½ sadda½ assosi. R±j³nañca n±ma “jita½ me”ti saddo aman±po hoti, so tassa santika½ gantv±, “aha½ id±ni amittamaddana½ katv± ‘jita½ me’ti ±gato, tva½ pana ‘jita½ me, jita½ me’ti viravasi, ki½ n±metan”ti pucchi. Kud±lapaº¹ito “tva½ b±hirakacore jini, tay± jita½ puna avajitameva hoti, may± pana ajjhattiko lobhacoro jito, so puna ma½ na jinissati, tasseva jayo s±dh³”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
“Na ta½ jita½ s±dhu jita½, ya½ jita½ avaj²yati;
ta½ kho jita½ s±dhu jita½, ya½ jita½ n±vaj²yat²”ti. (J±. 1.1.70).
Ta½ khaºa½yeva ca gaªga½ olokento ±pokasiºa½ nibbattetv± adhigataviseso ±k±se pallaªkena nis²di. R±j± mah±purisassa dhammakatha½ sutv± vanditv± pabbajja½ y±citv± saddhi½ balak±yena pabbaji. Yojanamatt± paris± ahosi. Aparopi s±mantar±j± tassa pabbajitabh±va½ sutv±, “tassa rajja½ gaºhiss±m²”ti ±gantv± tath± samiddha½ nagara½ suñña½ disv±, “evar³pa½ nagara½ cha¹¹etv± pabbajito r±j± orake µh±ne na pabbajissati, may±pi pabbajitu½ vaµµat²”ti cintetv± tattha gantv± mah±purisa½ upasaªkamitv± pabbajja½ y±citv± sapariv±ro pabbaji. Eteneva n²h±rena satta r±j±no pabbaji½su. Sattayojaniko assamo ahosi. Satta r±j±no bhoge cha¹¹etv± ettaka½ jana½ gahetv± pabbaji½su. Mah±puriso brahmacariyav±sa½ vasitv± brahmalok³pago ahosi.
Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv±, “aha½, bhikkhave, tad± kud±lapaº¹ito ahosi½, kiles± n±mete eva½ bh±riy±”ti ±ha.
